Chapter 28
Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father
In the afternoon, Kara sat at her work desk while supporting her head
with one hand. Her eyes closed occasionally. Only when the phone. rang did her back straighten.
âGood morning. Frank Harperâs office.â
âI pay you to work, not sleep.â
Kara looked at the mirror in front of her. The CEO must have been glaring at her from behind the glass.
âSorry, Sir. Itâs not my fault that Iâm sleepy. Youâre the one who drained. my energy. Donât you remember how I was panting and drenched in sweat this morning? I couldnât even walk.â
The guards exchanged glances. When they arrived at the mansion this morning, Frank and Kara were both taking a shower. If it was a usual day, their boss must be already in a neat condition. Frank Harper must have done something important with his secretary. Het was even willing to postpone his departure for that activity.
âMy friend will arrive soon. Hurry up and buy us lunch. No need to go. far. Just look for it at the cafe on the 5th floor.â
Kara walked lazily towards the elevator. She didnât realize that the guards smiled slightly every time they glanced at her tired face.
However, as the elevator doors opened, Karaâs eyes immediately opened wide. âMr. Wilson?â
That was the man who knew her status as a single mother of two!
âKara Martin?â Ben pointed his index finger and put on a surprised expression. After a moment of silence, he laughed briefly. âYou work. here?â
Kara smiled, but her heart wanted to cry.
âYouâre Frankâs secretary?â Ben guessed again.
Kara nodded stiffly. âYes, he just order me to buy lunch for a guest. Apparently, it was for you?â
âYou donât need to bother. Iâve brought two boxes of salad.â Bent carried his lunch bag higher. âSo, how are Louis and his beautiful
sister?â
Karaâs eyes almost left her head. Her mouth was open but she seemed to be having difficulty getting words out.
âAbout thatâ¦.â
Kara leaned closer, whispering with a grimace, âI know youâre Mr. Harperâs friend, but⦠can you help me? I faked my status when I applied for a job here.â
Benâs jaw dropped. âSo, Frank didnât know you were a single mother.
Kara widened her grin and nodded. âYou donât mind, do you?â
Ben shrugged his shoulders. âSure. Now, why donât you take me to
see Frank?â
âThank you for your wisdom, Sir.â
They had a small chat as they walked towards the CEOâs room. When Kara entered, Frank immediately glared at her with an annoyed look.
âDidnât I tell you to buy food?â
âYes, but Mr. Wilson has brought it himself.â
A second later, Ben slipped through the narrow gap behind the secretary. âKaraâs right. I brought our lunch.â
Hearing how Ben called Kara, Frankâs heart became more restless.
the glass. Now, the two people were openly showing intimacy?
âYou know each other?â
Ben and Kara glanced at each other. After a small smile, Ben answered, âYes. Your secretary once had dinner at my familyâs.
restaurant.â
âThatâs right. I came with my mother,â Kara added.
Frankâs eyes narrowed even more. âThere are many customers there. Itâs impossible you remember them all.â
âOf course not. Itâs just that Kara stands out too much compared to the others. She looked very beautiful and elegant that night.â
Frank snorted. âIs that so?â
âI was impressed with her and gave her my business card. But, until now, she hasnât contacted me. Who would have thought, we would meet here, in your office.â
Frankâs expression turned gloomy. He looked at Kara full of jealousy.
âKara, didnât you complain that you were tired because of what we did this morning? You said I made you breathless and sweaty. You even had difficulty walking,â Frank said in a provoking tone.
Ben raised an eyebrow. Secretly, he glanced at Kara.
Kara didnât look like she wanted to protest. Was it possible for such. an innocent girl to let someone as arrogant as Frank dominating her? Even in the morning?
âHow about you rest? Refresh your body and mind. And donât forget to treat the marks on your neck. You can use my ointment from.
yesterday.â
Ben lowered his gaze towards Karaâs neck. There was a plaster

âRemember,â Frank suddenly lowered his volume, âI donât want anyone else to see it. Just the two of us may know.â
Kara covered her neck and blushed. She didnât understand Frankâs purpose in saying something like that in front of Ben.
âOkay. Thank you, Sir. Now excuse me.â
As Kara left, Ben looked at Frank with a faint shake of his head. â Where did you find such a beautiful secretary? I want one too.â
âThereâs probably only one in the world. Sorry, Iâve already taken her.â
Casually, Ben put his lunch bag on the table. âYou two look close.â
Hearing that long-awaited sentence, Frank widened his smile and shrugged his shoulders. âSheâs actually not just my secretary, but also my servant. You understand what I mean, right?â
A sigh escaped Benâs mouth quickly. âI didnât expect you to finally open up to women. What about Isabela? Does she know that you choose a girl who is inferior to her?â
âDonât underestimate Kara, Ben. You donât know what sheâs capable. of.â Frank put his hands together then rested his elbows on the table. His expression looked relaxed, not like someone who was bragging.
âIs she that great?â
Frank nodded lightly. âYes.â
âIncluding the bed service? How is her performance?â
Frank smiled. He had to keep playing his part or his jerk friend would take Kara as his own.
âThatâs our privacy, Ben. I donât want you to use it for your pleasure.â
Ben snorted slightly. He had gathered information about Kara. He
âIf you canât explain, that means youâre lying.â He sat relaxed in a chair, crossing his arms in front of his chest. His chin lifted in defiance.
âItâs up to you to believe it or not. I just want to remind you that I really donât like it when mine is disturbed.â
Ben almost laughed. However, quickly, he curled his lips and nodded. â Then itâs a waste of me to give in to you.â
Frankâs eyebrows knitted together. âWhat do you mean?â
âIsabela.â
Frank laughed dryly at that answer. âDidnât I already tell you? You donât need to give in. Iâd be happy if you could keep that girl away from me.â
âYou gave up Isabela for me but not Kara?â Ben lowered his tone. He sounded dismissive. âSince when does Frank Harper like lower class girls? Are you sure your grandfather will agree?â
Frankâs jaw tightened at the attack. It reminded him that he still hadnât found a solution to avoid the arranged marriage.
Should he use Kara in his strategy? How could he get Rowan to accept her?
