Chapter 281
Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father
S31 24. Set a Strategy
âIâm a little curious,â Jeremy folded his arms in detective-style. âHow could Sophia ask you two to talk?â
âShe said she overheard Auntieâs words.â
âMe?â Barbara stared wide eyed, pointing at herself.
Louis nodded. âAbout Auntieâs regret if Philip fails to claim his prize. Sophia thinks that if our relationship with Grandma is bad, Philipâs mission could be hampered. Auntie will be sad if that happens.â
âSophia also said that she could help us if she knew more clearly about the mission,â Emily added.
Frank took a deep breath, and so did the people by his side.
âEverything is clear now. She must have deliberately provoked the children to talk so that Grandma would misunderstand,â Philip said in
a low tone.
âDoes it mean Sophia is evil? Sheâs our enemy?â Emily pressed her forehead with her eyebrows.
Louisâ cheeks puffed up. âShe claimed to be a friend, but it turns out, she trapped us. I should have not trusted her. Should we give her a lesson, Daddy?â
âLouis?â Kara stroked her sonâs head. âYour words are not nice.â
Louis bit his lip. âSorry, Mommy. But Iâm annoyed.â
âBut Louis has a point. We do need to teach her a lesson, but not now. It seems she has information that we donât know.â Frank shrugged.
âYes, we donât know yet what makes Grandma so sensitive, especially

towards Kara. Luckily my sister-in-law is the most patient person,â Barbara grumbled.
âSo, what should we do, Daddy?â Emily blinked tensely.
âAnd what about Grandma? She has kicked Philip out. Can we still stay here?â Louis pointed his finger at the floor.
Frank considered it for a moment. Then, he turned slightly. âPhilip, do you want to leave now?â
Philip shook his head. âI donât want to leave before clearing up her misunderstanding.â
Frank nodded. âKids, can you neglect this problem for a while? Letâs just say, you donât know anything.â
âIs that mean we still have to be friends with Sophia? But sheâs mean, Daddy.â Louis widened his eyes.
âYou donât have to be close friends. Just saying hello or having a brief chat is fine. The important thing is that she doesnât suspect that her crime has been revealed.â
âSophia has promised to teach Louis to ride when the equipment arrives. Should Louis cancel that plan?â
Louis glanced at Emily in horror. âOf course I have to cancel it. Sophiaâs words canât be trusted. She said horse riding was safe, but something undesirable could happen.â
âBut if you cancel it, she might get suspicious.âEmilyâs whisper sounded shrill.
âThen, I will play an act. When she tells me to get on the horse, Iâll pretend to be scared.â Louis shrank his body until his back arched.
Frank smiled at his sonâs behavior. Thatâs fine too. Do what you can, Kids. Now, how about you have breakfast? Mommy will accompany
you.â
Kara nodded and took the twinsâ hands. âYou canât be late for
breakfast.â
âDaddy and the others arenât coming?â Emily furrowed her brows.
âDaddy still has something to discuss, Princess.â
âOh, I know,â Louis said in a lazy tone. âThat must be an adultâs business. The children shouldnât hear, so Daddy asked us to hurry up and have breakfast.â
Emily elbowed her brotherâs arm. âWhy did you sound like youâre not happy, Louis? Remember, this problem could have happened because of us. Weâre not allowed to interfere in adult matters anymore.â
Emilyâs scolding broke the tension. She made everyone laugh, including Louis.
âOkay,â the boy smiled mischievously and put his arm around his younger sisterâs shoulders, âno need to frown like that. Letâs have breakfast. We need a lot of energy to be secret agents. Mommy, come on!â
While Kara accompanied the twins, Frank smiled wryly. In his heart, he felt both annoyed and pitiful.
âHow dare Sophia use my children in her evil plans,â he muttered faintly.
âShe really doesnât have a heart,â Barbara said, folding her arms across her chest.
âThen whatâs your plan, Frank?â
Frank glanced at Jeremy. âLetâs start by getting information about her. Once we have the ace card, then we can determine which
scenario to carry out.â

An hour passed, Diana finally fell asleep. Sophia got up from the edge of the bed. Carrying the empty glass and plate, she left the room.
âThey want to rely on Philip?â
Remembering how angry Diana had been, she sneered.
âIâve warned you, Iâm the only person who can help. You donât believe me, Frank. Now letâs see whether you will still refuse my help or not.â
Smiling in victory, Sophia went into the dining room. Her stomach had been churning
However, seeing Frank on the back porch, ever s
she stopped.
âWhat is he doing there?â
Sophia moved closer to the window pane. Apparently, Frank was busy reading documents on his tablet.
âHeâs working? Alone?â
Little by little, Sophiaâs smile curved perfectly. Wasting no time, sh
put the plate into the sink then brewed tea for him.
âHey, where are the others?â Sophia passed through the door while stirring the tea in a cup.
Frank lowered the tablet onto the table. âIn the stable. How is
Grandma?â His expression was serious.
Sophia took the seat next to Frank. âBetter. Her blood pressure has improved. Sheâs sleeping now.â
âThank God,â Frank sighed, raising the eyebrows. âI really donât
understand what made her so angry. We are lucky that you are here for her.â
Sophia tried to control her expression. However, the corners of her

âIâm glad I could help. And yes, weâre lucky that Grandma opened up to
me.â
Frank nodded. Gazing off into the distance, he let the silence hang.
âBy the way, would you like some tea? I havenât drunk it yet because itâs too hot. Or do you want me to make you some more?â
Frank blinked firmly. Even though he was playing a role, he still didnât like receiving Sophiaâs attention. âKara is the one who likes tea, not
me.â
The curve of Sophiaâs lips froze for a moment. With stiff movements, she placed the cup on the table. âDo you prefer coffee? Shall I make
it?â
Before Frank could answer, Sophia had moved from her chair. In just a few moments, she returned with another cup.
âHere is special coffee for you, Mr. Harper.â
Frank did his best to suppress the furrow of his brows. âThank you.
âYouâre welcome.â Pride radiated clearly from Sophiaâs eyes. âSo, how is Philip? Grandma scolded him too hard earlier.â
Frank almost snorted. âPhilip⦠heâs a tough guy. Things like that wonât bother him. Heâs just curious about why Grandma was so sensitive about the apartment. You already know the problem, right?â
Sophia nodded innocently. âYes, Grandma told me that over and over again.â
âSo you also know the reason?â
Sophia bit her lip. Her face was worried. âYes.â
âCan you tell me?â

Sophiaâs brows furrowed deeper. âSorry, Frank. I have no right to tell you. I can only mediate-â
âThat wouldnât work if I didnât know her point of view. So, please⦠tell
me.â
Frank looked at Sophia closely. The woman was stunned to see his gray beads.
âSorry, Frank. I didnât dare.â
âPlease, Sophia. Only you understand this.â
Sophia gaped, frozen in doubt. âIâ¦.â
âIf you are willing to help me, I will make whatever your wishes come
true.â
