Chapter 282
Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father
S31 25. A Trap for Sophia
Sophiaâs eyebrows rose. Her heart tingled. âI donât expect anything in return from you, Frank.â She grimaced.
âThere must be something I can do for you to get the information?â
Sophia exhaled a long breath, her shoulders lowered. âOkay if you insist. Today, my package will arrive. I want to make it a surprise for Grandma. So, I need your help to sneak it into the stable tonight.â
Frank frowned. He thought Sophia would immediately reveal the secret. Why did she even make a request?
âThatâs the reward you need from me?â
Sophia nodded. âAnd Iâll tell you everything there.â
Frankâs hopes crumbled. âWhy not now?â
âI promised Grandma to keep it a secret in this house. So, I donât want to break it here. It might sound strange but I hope you understand my
reason.â
Frankâs lips pursed. âOkay. Just call me when the package comes.
Sophia had difficulty holding back a smile. Rubbing her nose, she stood up. âWell then, see you tonight. I have something to do now.â
âOkay.â
Sophia went inside like a shy girl. At that moment, Philip poked his head out from the side of the house, Frank blinked at him.
âSince when were you there?â he whispered stiffly.
Barbara appeared beside Philip. âIs it safe?â
Blinking in surprise, Frank peered inside. Sophia was no longer visible.
1.6.
âSafe.â
Philip and Barbara rushed around him.
âWill she tell the truth tonight?â Barbara still whispered.
âI think itâs a trap,â Philip continued.
Frank pursed his lips tightly. âYeah, it was definitely a trap.â
âWhat will you do then? Do you want to keep going?â
Frank spontaneously turned to where Philip appeared before. Jeremy was raising an eyebrow there, waiting for the answer to his question. Frank could not help but laugh amusedly.
âAre you stupid or overprotective?â
âBoth. Kara doesnât want you be alone with that girl. I just help her.â Jeremy shrugged his shoulders lightly.
âGuys, how about we move somewhere else? I donât feel safe here.â Barbara glanced in.
Frank took the coffee cup and stood up. âRight, letâs move.â
âAre you sure you want to drink that?â Jeremy pointed at the coffe She put something in there earlier.â
âI know.â After walking a few steps, Frank poured the black liquid onto the snow. âI want her to think I drank it. Now letâs make a plan.â
In the evening, after feeding Diana, Sophia approached Frank on the back porch. âI want to accompany Grandma to sleep. After that, weâll leave.â
Frank almost shuddered at the whisper. However, as much as possible, he controlled his expression. âOkay.â
âWhat are you talking about?â Kara suddenly appeared in the doorway.

Seeing her displeased expression, Sophia smiled. âNothing.â
She straightened up and patted on the sleeve of Frankâs sweater. âI just told Frank thereâs a bug stuck to his sweater.â
Then, Sophia walked over coquettishly. âExcuse me.â
Kara glanced at her cynically. When she returned his gaze to Frank, her husband was giving her two thumbs up.
âYour acting is good,â he whispered.
With a sullen face, Kara approached Frank. âIt wasnât an act. I was really annoyed. There is no bug in winter. Itâs clearly an excuse.â
While cleaning Sophiaâs trace from Frankâs sweater, Kara pursed her lips. âSo, you guys will go to the stable?â
âAre you worried?â Frank put his chin to her chest.
As Kara nodded, Frank smiled. âDonât worry. Iâm with Jeremy.â
âBut you still have to be careful.â
âYeah, I will return in a good shape.â
Kara smiled bitterly. After kissing his forehead, she whispered, âI will sue her if she dares to mess with you.â
Frank laughed slightly. âIt wonât happen. I wonât let her touch me.â
Later, Frank met Sophia with no expression. âSo, these are what we need to take to the stable?â Frank pointed to four different sized boxes. Two large, two medium.
âYes,â Sophia nodded while putting her hands on her hips. âI bought helmets, riding vests, boots and gloves. Can you bring the big ones?â
Sophia took the top two boxes. At that moment, Frankâs eyes fell on the wet surface of the box.

âOf course.â Frank changed the position of the box he was carrying. Sophiaâs smile suddenly disappeared.
âIsnât the box wet? Why did you put it at the bottom? Youâll ruin it.â
âI donât want my chin to get wet. Besides, wonât we open this box
later?â
Sophia blinked. âYes.â She looked like she was still looking for an
excuse.
âThen letâs hurry. Donât let grandma see us.â
Without waiting for an answer, Frank led the way. Sophia couldnât help but follow his steps.
âSo, what did Grandma tell you?â Frank asked when Sophia caught up.
Sophia exhaled a long breath. She had actually prepared a diversion of focus for Frank. However, she wasnât quick enough to ask. âDo you know her past with your grandfather?â
âNo need to ask. Just tell me.
âBut, do you know what kind of person your grandmother was in th past?â
âI said just tell me,â Frank sounded firm even though his tone was flat.
Sophia grimaced slightly. She had no other choice, especially since Frankâs steps were starting to slow down. He might become suspicious if she avoided answering.
Sophia started telling the story. About how Diana loved Rowan, about how Rowanâs attitude was unfair, about how they separated.
âSo, Grandma is hurt and holds a grudge against my grandfather?â Frank stopped in his track for the umpteenth time.
Sophia nodded. âShe also hates your family. To her, people with the

Harper are evil. Thatâs the story. Now, how about we
continue walking? Iâm starting to get cold.â
âWait a minute. I still donât understand. If it was just because of hurt and hatred, Grandma wouldnât have reacted this badly. Is there
anything else you havenât told me?â
However, Sophia continued walking. Frank was forced to match her
pace.
âGrandma cursed at your grandfather. She hoped that he would live a miserable life, not feel love and never be happy.â
Frankâs brow furrowed. âSo, our arrival made her feel defeated? Her
curse failed?â
âMaybe so. Thatâs why she thinks your familyâs happiness is fake. Thatâs her way of comforting herself.â
At that moment, they arrived at the stable door. Sophia placed her boxes on top of Frankâs, then opened the lock. Frank no longer noticed that she was in a hurry. He was busy contemplating, while occasionally taking deep breaths.
âOkay, that explains why Grandma didnât like our presence and
misunderstood Philipâs inheritance. But what about Kara? What made Grandma so sensitive about her?â
While pulling the chain, Sophia shrugged. âI donât know about that either. Maybe Grandma feels jealous. Her fate and Karaâs are very different. While in fact, they are both Mrs. Harper. But that is my personal analysis, not Grandmaâs confession.â
As soon as the sentence ended, Sophia opened the door. âFinally⦠Letâs go in.â
Sophia entered into the darkness, looking for the light switch. However, when she pressed it, not a single ray of light appeared.

âHmm?â Sophia fiddled with the switch over and over again. âWhy doesnât it turn on?â
She sighed worriedly. However, realizing that the condition could support her mission, she smiled.
âFrank, the lights are broken. Come in.â Secretly, she sprayed something on her wrist.
