Chapter 287
Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father
S31 30. Dianaâs Change
In the dining room, everyone turned as Frank came back with the broom and dustpan. âWhere should throw this?â
Abigail pointed her finger. âJust put it there. Iâll handle it later.â
Frank walked towards the corner. From his listless movements, everyone could guess what had happened.
âWhat were you talking about earlier?â Philip asked, cautiously.
Frank let out a faint sigh as he approached Kara. âNot much. Grandma wondered why I could hold a broom. She suspected me as always, and she didnât answer when I asked for her lenience for the children.â
Without waiting for orders, Kara put her arm around his waist. She didnât say a single word. However, Frank felt his burden suddenly lighten.
Rubbing Karaâs head, Frank turned to the twins. âKids, have you finished breakfast?â
The twins nodded.
âYes, Daddy.â
âNow itâs Daddyâs turn to have breakfast.â
Frank raised the corners of his lips. âThen how about you two play in the living room?â
Louisâ lips suddenly pursed. âOh, I know. Daddy wants to have a
conversation with the adults. Little kids like me and Emily should not
interfere.â
Emily chuckled. âYou protest too much, Louis. Letâs play in the living

room. Donât delay the adult meeting.
A second later, Emily jumped down from the bench. Louis followed with puffed cheeks. As the two toddlers left, Jeremy whispered,â Whatâs your solution?â
Unbeknownst to him, Louis and Emily didnât actually go into the living room. They stopped near the door, pressing their ears against the wall.
âIt seems that we have no hope. Grandmaâs hatred is really deep- rooted. Our presence in her life brings no benefit, while our departure does not give her a sense of loss.â
âI think Grandma will be very grateful and relieved if we leave the farm,
Barbara said lightly.
Philip nodded. âYeah, I also think so. Grandma even kicked me out. She couldnât stand the bad memories that haunt her anymore.â
âSorry,â Frank furrowed his brows. âBecause of our family, your relationship with Grandma was broken.â
Philip shrugged. âIâm sad and disappointed, but what can I do? I will marry Barbara, become part of your family, even though my last name is not Harper.â
While Barbara grabbed Philipâs fingers, Jeremy tapped on the table.â So, shall we go home early?â
Frank reluctantly nodded. âYes, but after I discuss it with Louis and Emily.â
âI really feel sorry for them. They were really looking forward to this. holiday.â Barbara sighed heavily.
Behind the wall, Louis and Emily exchanged glances. Their faces were equally gloomy. Their shoulders dropped.

âDo you mind if we donât go to the party?â Louis held Emilyâs shoulder.
The little girl shook her head. âItâs useless for us to join the party without feeling happy.â
A second later, Louis grabbed Emilyâs hand and pulled her towards the middle of the door. Standing up straight, he said, âDaddy, itâs okay for Emily and I to go home now. The important thing is that Grandma isnât sad anymore.â
Instead of smiling proudly, Frank stared wide-eyed. The people around him also showed the same expression. âGrandmaâ¦.â
The twins also widened their eyes. They just realized there was someone behind their backs. When they turned their heads, their shoulders immediately rise, pinching their necks.
âH-hello, Grandma. Are you hungry?â Louis remembered that Abigail had said that. Diana would look for food when she was hungry.
Diana cleared her throat. Lifting her chin and glancing away, she muttered, âIâm hungry.â
Frank quickly pulled a chair for Diana. âPlease sit down, Grandma.â
The twins tiptoed towards the living room, while Kara got up from the dining table.
âStay where you are,â Diana said.
Karaâs eyebrows arched high. âMe?â
âHmm, and you guys,â Diana glanced at the twins, âgo back to the dining table. I have something to talk about.â
The two toddlersâ lips immediately pursed. However, without asking any questions, they returned to the bench, sitting between Frank and
Kara.

In an instant, the atmosphere turned awkward. Karaâs hands went back and forth. She wanted to serve Diana, but remembered that she
was forbidden from touching any equipment.
âBarbara,â she called, whispering.
âNo need to tell other people. Just do it yourself.â
Karaâs back straightened. Without saying much else, she took two
sandwiches for Diana.
âYou still donât know my portion, hmm?â
Kara blinked stiffly. âSorry.â Swiftly, she returned a piece of sandwich.
Diana cleared her throat. âThank you.â
Everyone was stunned.
âDid I hear it correctly?â Philip whispered.
âGrandma did say thank you.â Barbara elbowed him so he wouldnât get too close.
âThatâs huge progress.â
Diana heard the whisper. All her nerves turned stiff. âI heard you guys will be leaving soon.â
Frank nodded. âI think thatâs whatâs best for all of us.â
âThatâs a shame. In fact, I was just about to invite Louis and Emily to the party.â
The twinsâ mouths spontaneously opened wide. Their eyes sparkled brightly. âGrandma invites us?â
âYes.â Diana bit her sandwich without expression.
âIs that okay? Donât you hate us, Grandma?â Emilyâs sweet voice came

again.
âThe children at the orphanage need new friends. If you can be good friends to them, maybe I can reconsider my opinion of you.â
In an instant, the twinsâ faces turned cheerful. While looking at Kara, they let out laughter.
âMommy, Grandma Diana doesnât hate us anymore.â
Kara nodded, half hesitant, half moved. âYes, Little Bee.â
The twinsâ excitement spread in the air. âThank you, Grandma. We are very happy to have this opportunity.â
Dianaâs heart warmed. She couldnât deny that she was happy to see that smile. However, just as she was about to show a little
friendliness, Sophia appeared at the door.
âHi! It turns out you guys havenât finished breakfast? Is there anything left? Iâm hungry.â
Sophia smiled as if nothing was wrong. Her steps were light, her movements were relaxed. She didnât even mention Diana no longer refusing breakfast. Only her eye bags looked a little thicker.
Seeing Sophia walking towards her, Kara spontaneously got up from the bench. âThereâs still plenty of bread. Sit down.â
However, before she had time to move, Diana grabbed her hand. âWhy are you standing?â
Karaâs brain froze a little. âDoesnât Sophia want breakfast?â Her finger pointed downwards, indicating that that was where Sophia usually
was.
Dianaâs heart hurt seeing that. Unconsciously, her gaze turned pity.
âI said I wanted to talk about something. How dare you leave? I havenât finished eating either. Is it polite for you to leave the dining

table while an old woman is still sitting?â
Karaâs jaw dropped. Confusion had clogged her mind. Only when Emily took her hand did she flinch.
âMommy, just sit down. Abigailâs chair is empty. Sophia can sit there.â
Kara looked at the others. She still couldnât believe that Diana didnât mind her presence there.
âSit down, Kara. Grandma doesnât seem to mind. Nobodyâs going to throw you out now.â
Dianaâs breathing suddenly became heavy. She knew Frank just
wanted to calm Kara down. However, her heart considered it as satire.
Same with Sophia, she secretly clenched her jaw. âDamn. Why did Grandma let Kara stay here? What really got into her?â she cursed inside her heart.
