Chapter 327
Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father
S31 70. Unrepeatable Moment
âYou finished assessing me?â
Ava blinked. âMe what?â
Jeremy turned his head. âHavenât you been judging me? You havenât stopped looking at me.â
âIâm not looking at you,â Ava shook her head stiffly.
âOkay, correction. You glanced at me.â
Ava snorted. However, before she could say any words, Jeremy said, â You donât have to think about it. Iâm used to being like this, and I feel
comfortable. I donât like attracting attention.â
Avaâs eyebrows rose faintly. Her eyes trembled as she watched him. Arenât you sad about being treated differently from your brother?â
Jeremy shrugged. âIs that any good?â
While Ava was astonished, he let out a faint sigh. âLetâs go. You s have to get medicine at the hospital, right?â
Seeing Jeremy walking first carefree, Ava fell silent. A strange feeli crept into her chest. She seemed to see herself in Jeremy.
âDo you want me to take your hand?
Ava gasped again. However, just as she was about to respond, Abigailâs voice caught their attention.
âJeremy! Wait!â The girl waved as she approached them. Her expression was serious, not as cheerful as usual.

Two minutes earlierâ¦.
When she turned towards the departure gate, Dianaâs eyebrows immediately furrowed. Her breathing was heavy, her steps a little. halting.
âGrandma, are you sure you donât want to talk to Jeremy?â
Diana gasped. âWhat are you talking about?â
âSince your first meeting at the farm until now, I have never seen you
two talking together. You seem to be closer to Frank. Youâre also close to Vivian Bell. But why not to Jeremy?â
Diana let out a long sigh. The burden in her heart felt heavier.
At the beginning of her meeting with Jeremy, she was carried away by emotions. She ignored him, just like the others.
However, when she realized that they were innocent, Diana was too busy making amends to Frank, Kara, and the twins. Jeremy really never got her attention.
âGrandma, theyâre starting to walk towards the parking lot,â Abigail whispered, looking back once more.
Diana stopped her steps. Taking a deep breath, she let consid occupy her focus.
âIf you want to talk to Jeremy, do it now, while you have the chal wouldnât be funny if we flew straight back when we landed. Even though Frank doesnât mind paying for the ticket, it could be considered a waste.â
Diana swallowed hard. She finally looked over her shoulder. Jerer just stopped in his track. He seemed to be talking to Ava about something.
âIs there still enough time?â
Abigailâs eyebrows arched high. âYes. Shall I call him?â
As soon as she got a nod from Diana, Abigail raised her hand. Jeremy! Wait!â
Diana could see the man was surprised to see Abigail running. However, he remained silent until Abigail arrived in front of him.
âJeremy,â while catching her breath, Abigail pointed at Diana,â Grandma wants to talk to you. Do you have time?â
Î
Jeremyâs eyebrows twitched. âGrandma⦠wants to talk to me?â He
sounded incredulous.
Abigail nodded. âGo see her. I can take care of check-in and you two can chat until itâs time to fly.â
Ava silently observed Jeremy. However, the manâs expression was too frozen. It was difficult for her to read Jeremyâs heart and mind. Even when he sat opposite Diana, his expression was still flat.
âYou said there was something you needed to discuss with me. What is it, Grandma?â
Diana cleared her throat. Her eyes didnât dare to look directly at Jeremy. âHow are you?â
Jeremyâs forehead frowned slightly. âGood.â
Diana almost cringed. She realized her question was stupid. How after rubbing her neck, she was finally able to control herself.
âAre you okay even though I seem cold to you?â
Jeremyâs lips pursed. âI donât think youâre being cold to me. Isnât th just your nature? Talking as needed and in moderation? Besides, donât really have a topic to talk about.â
Jeremyâs nod deepened Dianaâs guilt.
âIâm sorry that I only have time to tell you this now. But, Iâm very
grateful that you came with the others to my farm.â
Jeremy was silent for a moment, before muttering, âItâs a fun holiday. Iâd be missing out if I didnât go.â
Diana hissed. âActually, I accidentally overheard your conversation with that girl.â
Jeremyâs eyes twitched for a moment. âSophia?â
Diana smiled. âYes. Thatâs what made me change my mind. I felt guilty towards all of you and started to make amends. Butâ¦.â
Diana took a deep breath. âIâm too shy to face you. Itâs like you can read my whole heart.â
âFrank can read that too.â
âBut you were the one who made me realize. It was your words that hit me. Moreover,â Dianaâs eyes began to mist, âwhen she asked you why you didnât speak directly to me, you said I had never looked you in the eyes. You called my attitude cold and heartless. You said I always think badly of you guys.â
Another sigh escaped Dianaâs mouth. âThatâs what makes me awkward dealing with you. Maybe, Iâm afraid of being criticize again.â
While Diana looked down, Jeremy was pensive. A strange feelin tickled his heart. As the warmth spread, the corners of his lips faintly.
âYou donât need to be afraid anymore, Grandma. My opinion has changed. You have proven that your true nature is not like that.â
Diana raised her eyebrows. âReally?â
Jeremy widened his smile. âYes. You are warm and caring. You are patient in fulfilling your promise to the twins. Even though, you are
bit tired.â
âYou noticed that?â
Jeremy nodded. âThe others know too, but we donât want to ruin an unrepeatable moment. Besides, you enjoy it as a penance, right?â
Little by little, the corners of Dianaâs lips rose. Pride radiated from her eyes. âThe woman who becomes your wife will be truly lucky, Jeremy. You are not only caring, but also understanding.â
âYouâre the first person to judge me like that, Grandma.â
Diana chuckled. As she got up from her chair, she stretched out her arms. âCome here, Jeremy.â
Jeremy happily rounded the table, approaching Diana. Seeing the two people hugging, Ava was pensive from a distance.
âTheyâre close now? What actually happened between them?â
However, until they said goodbye a second time and returned to the car, Ava still hadnât found the answer.
âYou finished assessing me?â Jeremy asked as the car star
move.
Ava blinked. âWhat? I didnât glance at you.â She forced her ga stay straight ahead.
âI know you were watching us earlier.
Ava looked away out the window. Her lips were tightly pressed together. âWhoâs watching you? Please donât be too confident.â
Jeremy smiled slightly. âDonât be jealous.â
Avaâs nerves froze. The words stung her to the pit of her stoma What do you mean?â She glanced from under the furrowed brows.
âGetting more attention from people who usually ignore you ⦠itâs
as good as you imagine. Yes, it feels warmer. But if youâre not used to it, it feels strange. It feels more like a dream that can disappear in an instant.â
Ava froze. She wasnât sure whether Jeremy was being funny or entertaining. âWhy did you say that? You donât appreciate your grandmotherâs good intentions?â
âMaybe someday, youâll understand. Repairing an awkward relationship isnât that easy. One or two kind sentences donât immediately erase old impressions. Looks like I need a few more chats to get used to Dianaâs kind side.â
Avaâs furrowed brows now changed meaning. âDid you investigate my background?â
âMe? For what?â
âThen why do you think Iâm jealous of you? You also talk as if you
know my position.â
