Chapter 355
Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father
S31 98. Jeremyâs Plan
Evaâs eyes sparkled when she saw the menu served on the dining table. She often went to restaurants with the men she dated. However, the dishes they ordered had never been so luxurious.
âWow, Iâm really honored. I just came to visit my mother. I didnât expect you to welcome me with this special dinner.â
The people around her exchanged glances. Even the twinsâ eyes widened to the maximum. Only Ava didnât dare to raise her head. She just focused on preparing food for her mother who was sitting next to
her.
âThis dinner is not to welcome you, Eva,â Louis said unexpectedly. This is to welcome Mrs. Connor.â
Several people could not help but smile. They thought Eva deserved those words. If Barbara had been there, she would have laughed and whispered with Philip.
âLouis, why did you talk like that?â Kara rebuked gently. âEva is Mrs. Connorâs daughter. If we welcome her mother, that means we
welcome her too.â
âBut Louis is right, Mommy. Weâre here to celebrate Mrs. Connorâs recovery, not to welcome Eva. We didnât even know she was coming.
In order to cover up her embarrassment, Eva faked a laugh. âYes, thatâs what I meant. I feel lucky to be invited to this dinner. Thank you for your generosity, Harper Family.â
Ava secretly glanced at her sister. She wondered if Evaâs veins had broken or what. How could she mention the Harper family with confidence? While in fact, there were Vivian and Melanie who did not have the last name Harper.

Not wanting the atmosphere to become stiff, Vivian spread her arms. âSince dinner time has arrived, letâs enjoy it. Who wants to lead the prayer?â
Louis raised his hands high. âI have prepared a special prayer for tonight. May I lead the prayer?â
Vivian chuckled. After Louis said a very sweet prayer, they ate
peacefully, at least, until Emily noticed the food on Avaâs plate wasnât decreasing. Ava was busier taking care of her mother.
âAva, donât forget your plate. You must eat too while feeding your mother.â
âIf not, do it alternately with Eva so you still have time to eat.â
Eva who was about to eat the last bite spontaneously froze. Noticing the glances from the others, she put her spoon back on the plate.
âSister, do you need help?â she asked in a sweet tone.
Ava wiped her motherâs mouth then prepared the next bite. âNo. You just eat.â
Eva put on a hurt look. âCome on, Sister. You donât have to always pay attention to Mom just because there are other people. Iâm the one who always takes care of her at home, remember?â
Everyone turned still. They peered at Ava with furrowed brows. Sh seemed to be holding back her breath. She had to be in shame and
pain.
âYou usually take care of Mrs. Connor?â Jeremy broke the silence.
Eva nodded gracefully. âYes, when she was still healthy, Ava was rarely at home. So, I cooked and took care of everything.â
âIf Iâm in good health, even Emily can take care of me,â Vivian said. casually, reaching for a glass. âIs that true, Emily?â

The little girl pursed her lips. âIf Mrs. Bell is in good health, what do I need to take care of? She can take care of herself. Eat, bathe, sleep.â
As Vivian chuckled, while Eva froze. However, instead of feeling insulted, the girl raised her chin.
âWe donât have servants like your family, Miss Harper. So, we have to do everything ourselves. Cooking, washing, cleaning. Only after that can I go to the boutique. After work, still have to take care of the house again. My daily life is really busy.â
Emily blinked innocently. âI think Mommy would have been much more tired. She had to work, take care of the house, and take care of baby Louis and me. Mommy was amazing!â
Ava is amazing too, Emily,â Louis said, raising his eyebrows. âShe has to look after Grandma Melanie, look after her own mother, and take care of her own needs. She takes care of three people at once! Not to mention when we give her missions. Sheâs also much more tired than Eva.â
âLittle Angels, itâs not good to compare like that,â Kara whispered, shaking her head faintly.
The twins pursed their mouths together. âSorry, Mommy.â
Seeing the two toddlers being reprimanded again, Ava let out a fair sigh. She knew they had become cynical to protect her.
âEveryone has their own busy schedule and priorities. Whatâs important is not how much they can do, but how much impact it has on their life and other people. So, whether you are busy working or taking care of the house, both are equally noble.â
Everyone was stunned to hear Avaâs words. The girl had never spoken so much and in such depth.
âAva is right. Thereâs no point in comparing who is busier. Louis, letâs

apologize to Eva.â
After one nod, the twins turned in the same direction. âWeâre sorry,
Eva.â
âWe donât mean to demean your busy life,â Louis added.
Eva smiled with satisfaction. âItâs okay. People have always liked to compare us.â
Suddenly, Mrs. Connorâs fingers moved slowly to grab Evaâs hand. Donât be sad. You are still my daughter,â she said softly.
Eva smiled. âThank you, Mom.â
Meanwhile, Ava looked down. Not wanting her awkwardness to be detected, she ate. The others could only look at her in pity.
âAva must be sad. Her mother plays favorite,â Louis whispered with his lips pursed.
âI hope Uncleâs order comes quickly. That way, we can prove to Ava that we love her.â
Louis nodded. âYes, even though her own mother doesnât really like
her.â
After a few minutes, a waiter finally came and whispered to Jerem Seeing his uncle nod twice, Louis started to act.
âUgh, Mommyâ¦. Looks like I have to go to the toilet.â Louis frowned while holding his stomach.
Kara stared wide eyed. âAre you alright?â
âDoes your stomach hurt?â Frank continued.
Louis nodded. âA little. But donât worry. I wonât be long. I will be back. soon for dessert. Donât throw away the food on my plate yet.â
Without wasting time, Louis got down from the chair. âEmily, come
accompany me.â
Emily put on a lazy look. âYou are so spoiled. You have to be accompanied to the toilet?â
Seeing that gesture, Kara finally understood. The twins were acting.
âDo you know Louis and Emilyâs plan?â Kara whispered to her
husband.
Frank shook his head. âIt must have something to do with the news Jeremy received. Letâs just wait.â
A few moments later, the twins came back singing a song. They walked sideways, holding a white tart cake decorated with
strawberries and a small candle. Kara and the others clapped their hands, singing along.
âHappy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you.â
Ava was stunned to see two toddlers walking towards her. When the cake arrived, her eyes filled with tears. Her smile was full of emotion.
âHappy birthday, happy birthday. Happy birthday, Ava.â
âCome on, Ava. Make a wish and blow out the candles.â
Ava put her hands together in front of her chest. After closing her eyes for a moment, she blew out the candles. Everyone applaude enthusiastically, except for two people-the woman who was possiblyâ still too weak and Eva who was unable to control her jealousy.
