Chapter 418
Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father
S3 161. How Was Last Night?
âLouis, whatâs wrong with your eyes?â Abigail asked after saying good morning. While sitting next to Diana, she observed the boy. âYou look like an owl.â
âLouis couldnât sleep, Abi. He kept thinking about how a woman could get pregnant even though I told him to sleep and not think about it anymore.â
While Frank and Kara shook their heads, Abigail chuckled. âYou shouldnât sacrifice your sleep thinking about that, Louis. Your eyes are swollen, but you still canât find the answer. Look at Emily. Her face is radiant and fresh.â
âBut I ended up sleeping, after I agreed with Emily.â Louis looked to the side. âIt seems youâre right, Emily. Daddy planted the baby in Mommyâs belly through the navel. Last night, Uncle Philip must have been doing it too. Thatâs why Auntie was panting. She was amused because Uncle kept digging into her navel.â
Some of the adults looked down and laughed. Some were stunned.
âHow did you know Barbara was panting, Louis?â Susan inquired.
âLouis hijacked Mommyâs phone, Grandma. Then we called Auntie. We wanted to ask about her condition. We were worried because previously, Auntie called Mommy and sounded scared,â Emily reported with a serious expression.
âBut apparently, Auntie was fine. She could still answer our calls. She said it was just a little painful.â Louis pinched the air with his thumb and forefinger.
Susan looked straight at Kara. Blinking stiffly, Kara shrugged.
âI donât know when Louis took my phone.â
âWeâre sorry, Mom. Next time, we wonât be negligent again.â Frank nodded while grimacing meaningfully.
âI really donât understand. Why canât small kids know about that? And whatâs wrong with us calling Auntie last night?â Louis grumbled while scratching his temple.
âBecause itâs an invasion of privacy, Louis, and youâre not qualified.â
Everyone turned to the voice. Barbara entered, side by side with Philip.
âAuntie!â Emilyâs eyes lit up.
âGood morning, Everyone,â Philip said as he pulled out a chair for Barbara. âAre we late?â
âIn fact, youâre too early. Newlyweds shouldnât rush,â Melanie said, winking at her daughter. Barbara chuckled.
âHow was last night? Was it smooth?â
Kara quickly elbowed Frank, warning that the twins were listening.
âYeah, we did well.â Philip smiled as he sat next to his wife.
âSo, what qualifications did Auntie mean?â Louis had difficulty pronouncing the word that sounded strange to him.
âQualifications are requirements, Louis. Just like how you were able
to receive a scholarship before, there are conditions that must be met. Do you remember?â
Emily nodded quickly. âYes, thereâs a lot of documents to prepare. Then, Grandpa Rowan tested us with a few questions.â
âDo we need a requirement to know how someone gets pregnant?â Louisâ eyes narrowed.
âOf course. First, you have to be at least 17 years old.â
âNot 17, but 21 years old,â Kara interrupted quickly.
Barbara raised an eyebrow at the code. âYes, 21 years old.â
Louisâ mouth rounded. âThatâs still a long time!â
âYou shouldnât complain, Louis. Do you want to get old quickly? I donât. I want to enjoy my childhood as best as possible.â
Louisâ cheeks puffed up. âOkay. Then, what are the next conditions?â
âSecond, you must have a great sense of responsibility and be ready to build a family.â
âAnd third?â
âYou have to find the right partner,â Frank interjected, âlike Daddy and Mommy.â
âLike me and Philip too,â Barbara continued, coquettishly.
While Philip laughed faintly, Emily rounded her mouth. âOh, I
understand now.â
Everyone focused on her. âUnderstand what, Princess?â
âHow can people get pregnant even though theyâre not married. Like Mommy and Ava!â
âBecause they are 21 years old, have a sense of responsibility, and already have the right partner?â Louis continued with sparkling eyes. It was like he had found a treasure he had been looking for.
âYes!â Emily nodded confidently. She didnât realize that adults were intrigued by her idea.
Suddenly, Louis glanced at Abigail. âThat means Abi doesnât know how to get pregnant? Sheâs only 19 years old.â
The water that Abigail had just sipped almost spilled out. While wiping her mouth, she nodded. âYeah, I donât know either.â
âAbigail is only 19 years old?â Melanieâs eyes widened. âI think sheâs already in twenties.â
Chuckling dryly, Abigail scratched her neck. âIâve heard that often. Maybe because I work too much, my face looks old.â
âDonât be fooled, Grandma! Abigail is still young too! Donât tell her about how someone can get pregnant. She doesnât meet the
qualications yet.â Louis straightened one hand. His eyebrows arched.
in seriousness.
âQualifications, Louis,â Emily corrected.
âYes, thatâs what I mean.â
While the twins continued to chatter, Barbara glanced at the empty chairs. âSo, where are Ava and Jeremy? They didnât forget that we had breakfast together, right?â
âMaybe theyâre busy doing the test.â Frank shrugged.
âDoes it take long?â
Louisâ eyes narrowed at Barbaraâs question. âHow old are you actually, Auntie? Arenât you already past 21? Why donât you know about that?â
While the people at the dining table turned amused again, in another room, Jeremy sat in silence. His head bowed, his hands put together between his knees. As soon as Ava came out of the bathroom, he got up quickly.
âHow is it? Have you gotten the result?â
Ava smiled dryly. Itâs hard to guess whatâs in her mind. âYes.â
Jeremyâs eyes widened. His heart beat more violently. âSo?â
Taking a deep breath, Ava took out what she had hidden behind her waist. Seeing the two lines on the device, Jeremyâs eyebrows rose.
âWhat does it mean? Youâre pregnant? Youâre really pregnant?â
The curve of Avaâs lips turned into a faint laugh. Her head nodded as her eyes filled with tears.
âYouâre going to be a father.â
Jeremyâs laughter spread into the air. âWe will be parents soon?â
Ava nodded. âYes. Congratulations, Jeremy.â
While laughing louder, Jeremy pulled Ava into a hug. One of his hand rubbed her head, the other rubbed her back.
âThank you very much, My Lady. You gave me the most beautiful gift in the world. We will soon be a mother and father.â Jeremy kissed her repeatedly.
âWeâll be good parents, right?â Ava whispered before meeting his gaze.
âYeah,â Jeremy raised and lowered his chin. âI will help you take care of our baby. Every morning, we can bathe him together, give him breakfast, and play with him before going to work. Then in the evening, we can play longer, teach him many things, listen to his chatter. Our life will be full of laughter.â
âAnd the whining. Itâs impossible for a baby not to cry, Jer. And also clean the poop. And prepare your stamina because we will be sleep deprived for several weeks. But, before all that happens, I still have to be pregnant for nine months and give birth.â
Jeremy hurriedly cupped Avaâs cheek and shook his head faintly. âYou donât need to worry. During those times, I will always accompany you. I will not let you go through those nine months alone, and forever. I
will be by your side. Together, we will take care of our baby.â
Ava was lost in Jeremyâs warm gaze. Without realizing it, tears fell from her eyes. âThatâs so beautiful, Jer.â
âYes, it must be very beautiful.â
Once again, Jeremy closed the distance between them. As his warmth surrounded Ava, her eyes closed, soaking in happiness.
âNow, how about we share this good news with the others? They must be waiting for us.â
Ava nodded slightly. âYeah, letâs meet the others.â
