Chapter 35
LOVE ME AGAIN MATE
Chapter 35
Ana.
âHoney, I want you to know that I will never put your life in danger. This is the only effective way I can think of right nowâ Dad quickly walks to us and places a k*ss on my temple.
âOkay, for our family,â I mumble, warily staring at the scary men surrounding us.
âBaby, look at meâ He grabs my face and directs my gaze back to him. I am sure everyone can hear my heartbeat right now. âIf you donât want to do this I will understand. I will look for another wayâ I stare in the green eyes that resemble mine and sigh:
âI want to meet herâ I whisper and mixed emotions cross his eyes. Dad pulls me in a tight hug that forces my mate to drop my hand.
âI love you, we will get herâ He whispers as he continuously k*sses my head, and I greedily breathe in his scent. I need to be calm.
âTake care of her, sonâhe hands me over to Jace who hugs me also. Since I was a kid, Jace has always shielded me from trouble. Even when the juniors in our pack were being taught self-defense before they could shift, he refused to let me join because he believed it was his job to watch
over me.
That made me lazy and I depended on him so much. If I knew my shift would be delayed, I would have disregarded his demand. Now Iâm nothing but a damsel in distress.
âIs everyone summoned?â Dad asks the man I learned to be his beta, and he nods in affirmation.
âNo one should suspect a thing. Make sure nothing happens-to my kidsâ He directs this statement to the scary men and they both nod in
submission.
We got it Your Highnessâ The leader of the group assures Dad, and he motions us to follow him.
âI wonât allow anything to happen to youâ Jace whispers and I gently squeeze his hand. I trust him.â I love you, okay?â he k*sses my temple and my nerves calm down a little bit. I can fool everyone else but not Jace. He can feel what Iâm feeling.
The men take us further in the woods until we approach a very old
building.
These are the cellsâ My mate whispers and I stare at the building in cringe. It looks scary before even stepping inside. It only has one large iron gate with very small windows. I can feel the smell of wolfbane, and silver from here and I wonder where and how Leo got the energy to pass through the gates.
We donât go through the gate though, the man leading the squad goes around the building where there is another door but with less smell of the poison.
The first room we enter is huge, and dark, and appears to be an old gym. Apart from the old workout equipment, there is no sign of occupancy. It appears like no one comes here anymore. The old peeling paint on the walls, the strong smell of moss, and the wet floor make me feel nauseated.
Why didnât they choose a better location for this?
The place stinks like shi t, and I will have to take a long bath if I came out of here alive.
âTo make it less suspicious, the king chose this place. I am sorry, sweetheart, I will make it up to you, okay?â Jace k*sses my head but his words stick in my mind. âTo make it less suspiciousâ
What if itâs a setup? Or what if Leo never left and will be among those guards? He will surely kill us.
Cra p. Leo adores his mother and there is no way he will leave without her. What if he is somewhere? What if we canât trust the men who brought us here?
The door bangs closed and I flinch almost shrieking. They locked Jace and me inside. This is not good. What if something happens to us for real? Who will take care of our baby?
I am here baby, just hold on to me tight, okay?â My mate whispers and I nod even though I know he canât see me. As he said, I tightly clinch to his b*dy because right now, my life depends on it.
Another door from inside opens and I stare at it in anticipation.
Silhouettes of men with guns start entering the room, and I am forced to take a fearful step backward.
âI am hereâ My mate reminds me and my hold on him tightens.
One shot, one killâ A voice calls from above the ceiling and the men
coc k s their guns in unison. How is this a test? I donât trust them.
What if they are working for Leo, and end up killing us for real?â I whisper in a shaky voice.
âI donât Trust them Jaceâ I fearfully whisper, and he quickly pushes me behind him.
âOn my count, oneâ the voice above us becomes louder and the room. becomes silent.
I min seared as shi t, My heart is beating wildly and Iâm afraid itâs about to burst out of my ribcage.
âTwoâ the man above us shouts and I take in deep breaths.
For the sake of my baby goddess.
Threeâ he shouts more louder and I tightly shut my eyes.
However, the men in the room donât do anything. They keep their guns aimed at us like they are waiting for another command.
âShi tâ the voice murmurs.
Something is up.
âHold on to me sweetheart, donât let go, okay? Something is not rightâ Jace murmurs securing his arms around me.
The door the men came from opens and a man enters. Unlike the rest, he is not armed. The man claps his hands as he approaches our forms
When he stands in front of us, he chuckles. A mocking sick laugh.
âHello, sonâ his deep voice murmurs.
