Chapter 193
Pregnant With Alpha’s Genius Twins
#Chapter 193 â Family Reunion âNothingâs wrong,â Ian says, shrugging, drawing Alvinâs gaze back to him. âThat was just awesome.â
Alvin freezes for a moment and then both boys start to laugh. Brent crosses his arms, not joining in, pissed off to be under these kidsâ control.
âYou have to teach me how to do that!â Ian says, jumping down from the couch and running to take Alvinâs hand. âReally, what do you do? Is it hard?â
Alvin shrugs. âI donât know â you just get really bossy ââ
Suddenly, Brent lunges forward, reaching for him, and Alvin gasps â spinning and putting his hands up.
âSTOP!â Alvin screams and â inches from him â Brent freezes in place, loosing his balance and falling to the floor. But he doesnât move forward anymore.
Ian looks at Alvin again, scared and wide-eyed, and Alvin grimaces a little. âI guessâ¦Iâm still new to it. I canât do it from far away, not without a megaphone, and I guessâ¦I didnât realize you had to hold them to it, once you commanded it.â
Ian shrugs, considering. âI think you did a good job.â
âThanks,â Alvin says with a smile, pleased, as he moves forward to a tied-up Beta and takes a set of zip ties from his pocket. Then, he and Ian move over to Brent. âHands behind your back, please,â Alvin says, his voice light.
Scowling, the Beta complies, and the boys bind his hands, his feet, his legs, and his mouth.
Then, they run from the room, determined to find their parents.
Evelyn and Victor both turn their heads towards the stairs, hearing the pounding of feet coming down them â but they both frown when they realize that the feet donât soundâ¦quite right.
Not heavy enough.
Evelyn gasps as she realizes what is happening just before the twins come into view, a ring of keys dangling from Ianâs hand.
âHi mom!â Alvin says, rushing over to her bars. Ian goes directly to his fatherâs cell, peering in at him, his face worried.
âAlvin,â Evelyn says, reaching through the bars to take her sonâs face in her hands. âHow did you get down here?â
Ian appears next to his brother. âAlvin did it,â he says, shrugging. âHe learned how to do the Alpha command â itâs super useful â heâs going to teach me how to do it too ââ
Evelyn just shakes her head, staring at the two of them as Ian fiddles with the keys and works to find the right one for her lock.
âThank you, boys,â she says quietly, âbut Alvin â you have to be careful with the command â itâs not a toy, and should not be used lightly ââ
Alvin frowns at his mother as Ian twists the key in the lock, smiling to hear it click. âShould I not have done it, mommy?â Alvin asks, worried.
âNo, baby,â Evelyn says in a rush, pulling the door open and wrapping her boy in a hug. âYou did right â
itâs just ââ she glances over at Victorâs cell. âWell talk about it later â daddy now ââ
It hasnât passed her attention that Victor hasnât said a word since the boys came down the steps.
Ian nods, rushing over to his fatherâs cell, trying the same key. Luckily, the locks and mechanisms havenât been replaced in years, so the same ancient key works in Victorâs lock as well. The family spills inside.
The children rush to their father, but hesitate when their mother calls to them to be careful. Instead, they kneel down next to him, going pale when they see the puddle of blood in which Victor lies. Evelyn kneels at his head.
âPapa,â Alvin says, wrapping his hand around his fatherâs finger. Ian stays silent, but takes his fatherâs other hand.
âItâs all right, boys,â Victor says, working hard to smile at them. âYou did good â you did so well â Iâm=
proud of you.â
Victor closes his eyes then, exhausted. Evelyn bites her lip, working hard to hold herself together.
âWe need to get him out of here,â she says, looking to the boys. âWhatâs the situation upstairs?
Specifically â where are Joyce and my father?â
âWe tied them up,â Ian says, looking up into her eyes. âThem and four Betas, in the command room.â
Evelyn just blinks, shocked, at her boys. âSeriously?â she asks.
Alvin looks at her and nods in confirmation.
âOkay,â she says. âThen, itâs done.â She looks down at Victor. âWeâll go outside right now â get Rafe â
call a medical helicopter ââ
But Victor shakes his head, his eyes still closed. âThe house,â he says, his words slow and dragging between his breaths. âItâs stillâ¦under siege. Enough Betasâ¦still under Walshâs command.â
Evelyn frowns, trying to understand.
âWe wonât get out,â Alvin says quietly, putting the pieces together before she does. âThey donât know weâve got grandpapa locked up, and theyâll grab us, and I wonât be able to command them all to stop.â
Victor nods, confirming that Alvin is right.
Evelyn bites her lip, looking away from her family, trying to think. âWeâve got to find some way to end their command,â she says quietly. âTo walk out of this house without protest. Or to let our Betas in.â
Victor nods again, agreeing. Alvin and Ian look between them, waiting for a plan to form.
Evelyn closes her eyes, letting her mind race. She knows that the house is under siege, and that Victorâs Betas will eventually get in. But she knows that they donât have time to wait for that. So what they need, now, is for her fatherâs Betas to lay down their arms.
Her eyes fly open.
âAlvin,â she says, looking down at her boy. âHow did you talk to all of the Betas all at once? Out on the field? To command them?â
He blinks at her and then reaches out to tap the radio still attached to his fatherâs shoulder. Evelyn looks hard at it.
âAnd the cars with the speakers on top, attached to this,â Evelyn says, thinking aloud, âtheyâre around the house? Right now?â
Victor nods shallowly, confirming it. Theyâre all ringed around the house, part of the siege.
Evelyn stares at the radio.
It would be so easy. So easy, now, to have Alvin speak into those speakers. To command Walshâs Betas to let them pass.
But. She has a bigger plan. A better one.
But one that would take more time.
Would it be worth it?
âVictor,â she says, placing her hands on either side of his head. âWhat do you want me to do.â
His eyes flutter open as he looks at her.
âWe haveâ¦â she bites her lip, hesitating to even mention it. âWe have two options. We can leave right now, get you out. Orâ¦we can take out my father and Joyce first. Discredit them forever. Take their pack now, so we never have to do this ever again.â
Victorâs breath leaves him in a rush and he closes his eyes, thinking. Then he opens them again, looking at his boys.
Thinking, clearly, about their future. About what he would do, could do, for them.
âDo it,â he says, his voice quiet. âI can hold onâ¦I can hold on, a little longer, Evie. Letâs end this war now, if we can.â
âAll right,â she says, closing her eyes and leaning down to press a kiss to his forehead.
Then, determined, she opens her eyes and looks directly at her boys.
âI need the two of you to be very brave,â she says. âJust for a little bit longer today.â
They nod to her, ready to follow her to the end of the world, if need be.
âGood,â Evelyn says sharply. âWeâre going to move very, very fast. Alvin, take your fatherâs radio. Ian, I have a job for you too, as soon as we get upstairs.â
âUpstairs?â Ian asks, confused.
âYes,â Evelyn says, her eyes flint and steel. âWeâre going to go have one last chat with my father and my ex-husband.â
