Chapter 1029
The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 1029: SIDE STORY (ABBY): THE WINNER "You shouldnât be too close with those two orphans," Serafim Rose said in her usual monotonous voice.
Abby lifted her head from the book that she was reading, her expression didnât change. "Yes, Serafim Rose."
Even though that was her answer, but she didnât even try to cease down the frequency of her meeting with Liam and Cedric. She cherished both of them more than anything, because they were the only people, who truly cared to her.
"Is she trying to rebel?" Serafim Rose narrowed her eyes when she watched Abby walked out of the main buildings with Cedric and Liam, the two of them had been waiting for her to go somewhere. "She didnât listen at all."
"Donât push her too far. You are going to lose your grip on her," Elder Xarex said. Usually, he didnât talk much.
"She is too weak for that." Serafim Rose didnât like what he was trying to imply. "In this rate, she is going to make the two of them her personal knights."
"There is nothing wrong with that. Liam and Cedric were the best knights on their age." Elder Xarex then added. "Rei had known about it and he didnât have any disagreement if the two orphans became Abbyâs personal knights."
Rose gritted her teeth. She didnât like whenever Rei got involved, but she didnât have any real power to go against him.
In two weeks, the trial would be held, where all the knights would be selected. Five knights would be chosen to be Abbyâs personal knights.
However, people could see that the knights were not too enthusiastic with this upcoming trial, since Abby was well known as the weakest Serafim in the history. It was not an exciting to do to protect a weak person like her and dedicating their lives for her.
Abby knew about that and she didnât appear to care with that fact. In her heart, she already chose Liam and Cedric, the rest could be anyone, who interested enough to offer their lives for her.
She was sixteen right now and probably Elder Xarex was right when he said that Abby had slowly lost from Serafim Roseâs grip, because she did no longer care about having her as her mother.
Just like what Serafim Rose wanted, she dictated Abby to see her as her predecessor for this title and that was what Abby did right now.
"What if the elders didnât allow us to take part in the trial?" Cedric asked, he glanced at Abby, who was laying down on the grass, staring at the blue sky. She was more relax now, she didnât force herself to study to the point she fell sick.
But, Cedric knew, deep down, Abby was still long for Serafim Rose to treat her the way she treated her elder sister.
The contrast was very obvious. Gabriel was Roseâs daughter, while Abby was someone, who would fill her role as the Serafim one day.
"Donât worry. You two will be my personal knights and the three of us will be together forever." Abby loved how it sounded. She didnât know what future held, but the thought she would go through it with Cedric and Liam made her felt lighter.
"I like that sound." Liam nodded. He glanced at Abby sheepishly. "I hope we can be together until our hair turned grey and our backs are in pain."
Liam and Abby laughed, while Cedric only stared at the distance.
The day of the trial came and the rule was pretty simple. They looked for the best knights among them all, where all of the knights, who already came to age had to participate.
They didnât really anticipate this day and every fight, the knights werenât very excited.
Probably, only Cedric and Liam, who took this trial seriously, which made them met in the final. They had predicted this to happen.
Abby was happy to see the two of them became the finalist, but she was worried to see them fight against each other. She didnât want any of them to be hurt.
"Sit down properly," Serafim Rose said, as she pulled Abbyâs sleeve, so she could stop craning her neck to get a better look of the fight below the platform. "You will know, who will win this battle. There is no need to be so work up. You got them as your knights no matter who won this."
Abby was upset, but she didnât let her to see that, because Serafim Rose tended to make a big of deal out of it, especially when she was against Liam and Cedric to be her knights to begin with.
The fight went for more than half an hour, because Cedric and Liam really went all. This was the longest fight for today.
But in the end, Cedric won the fight because Liam broke his swords.
"Good fight," Liam said with a chuckle, though his body littered with wounds, so did Cedric.
Cedric smiled and stretched out his hand to help his friend stood up after he was announced as the winner.
Aside from Cedric and Liam, there were another three knights, who would be Abbyâs personal knights.
After everything was done and the five knights for the new Serafim was announced, Abby went to see Cedric and Liam.
"I will help you to heal your wound," Abby said, as she approached Liam.
"You shouldnât be here, Abby," Cedric reminded her that it was not appropriate for her to come to the knightâs quarter, but Abby brushed it off. She didnât want to be told what she could do and what she couldnât. She had heard about it a lot.
"Thank you, I feel very honored to be treated by the Serafimâs divine power," Liam said exaggeratedly and Abby slapped his shoulder, which made him winched.
"I didnât even hit you that hard, donât be a baby." After Abby was done with Liam, she went to Cedric. "Let me see your wound."
"Donât worry. I am fine. He didnât hurt me at all."
Liam scowled. "I am sure I stabbed you somewhere during the fight."
"Donât even dream about that." Cedric then stood up and left the two of them. He felt uncomfortable to see how in sync Liam and Abby were, as if he was only a nuisance whenever it was the three of them alone.
"Why he is in a bad mood when he is the winner?" Liam grumbled, he plopped sweet into his mouth, while Abby sat next to him. They chatted for hours after that. Abby even skipped her lesson because she didnât want to go back.
It was so stuffy there, she felt like she couldnât breathe properly every time she was there.
However, when Abby returned, she should have expected this from Serafim Rose when she personally came to her bedroom to tell her how wrong her action was. She only came here to talk about this kind of things, she had never really cared about her second daughter.
"If you skipped your lesson again, I will lock you up, until you learned your lesson."
Rose was so mad, if it was not for Rei, who had agreed to make Liam and Cedric as Abbyâs personal knight, she wouldnât have let Abby to associate herself with those orphans, even when her daughter threw a tantrum.
Unfortunately, Abby was also adamant to have Liam and Cedric.
"Yes, Serafim Rose," Abby replied, but like usual. She kept doing the same thing, to the point Serafim Rose reached her limit and locked her up in the attic for three days straight.
She only released her because Abby fell sick.
Because of that, Abby couldnât go out for a few ceremonies that supposed to be held for the new Serafim, but people always had something bad to say about her.

And like usual, unless it was time for meal and medicine, there was no one stood guard, which made it easy for Liam and Cedric to sneak in.
"We shouldnât have come here."
"Oh, shut up, Ced. No one will know. No one will come here." Liam was actually very angry with this fact.
And for two weeks Abby fell sick, the two of them would come every night to check on her condition or simply stay there until Abby was asleep.
"You should remember your place, Ced, she is the Serafim, you are only her personal knight," Cedric warned Cedric one day.
It had been three years since they became Abbyâs personal knight and Serafim Rose stepped down from her role as the Serafim.
"Whatâs wrong?" Liam frowned. "Itâs not like she will reciprocate my feeling."
Cedric glanced at Liam. Even a blind people could see that Abby felt the same like him and Cedric knew it was only a matter of time before they noticed each otherâs feeling.
In that front, Liam was wrong, because one day, Abby kissed him and that was the start of everything, where they became each other first and thing escalated beyond what they thought.
When they were younger, the three of them dreamed to stay together until they grew old, but unfortunately, dream was not reality, because in real life, such as forever didnât exist.
Years later, it was only Abby and Cedric. And the baby...
"Can you tell me again about my father, uncle?" The little girl asked Cedric. "Did my father really win against you in a fight?"
"Yes, he always won."
