Chapter 356
The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 356: CANEâS ENDEARMENT GESTURE Before Iris went to the capital city, she followed Cane to the black market as well while Jace would always be left behind to take care of the pack every time the Alpha went away. As such, the time he spent with Iris had always been very limited. They were at most at the point of being courteous with each other, but he had not yet reached the point of trusting her completely.
Unlike Ethan, Jace was still thinking of Iris as a member of the Blue Moon pack and not one of them.
He also always thought Cane treated Iris considerately because he needed her, since he had to get a grip of the Blue Moon pack and the whole magic stone mine. Moreover, she held some of Caneâs secrets and the fact her presence eased Caneâs transformation during the new moon justified his need to take her whenever he went away.
However, what Jace witnessed just now was simply too shocking to be believable.
He kissed her! He kissed the tip of her nose!?
Cane only did such endearment gestures to the people that were dear to him! He did that to his previous mate and his twin siblings! It was something that not many people realized, but of course, as his beta, he knew this much.
And now, he kissed her that way?! Did he even realize it?! Or was this some kind of ruse again? He didnât do anything casually. Ever since they managed to escape from their slavery, he became a calculative person.
Yet, from the way Jace looked at it, Cane did it very naturally. He probably didnât even think about it.
"Who is that person?" Cane asked all of a sudden when Jace just stood in his place. He was in daze, his expression complicated.
Jace snapped back to reality and shook his head. "I donât know, I lost him..." He walked over to approach them. "He suddenly disappeared and I canât find him, there is no trace whatsoever and his scent also vanished all of a sudden."
"His scent too?" Caneâs expression hardened. He rested his hand on Irisâ waist, as he talked to Jace. His tone became cold.
"Yes. I donât know how." Jace glanced at Caneâs hand on Irisâ waist. He was not seeing things.
A lot of things happened in the span of less than an hour that Cane was away and on top of the plan they had to work on, he needed to prioritize what he should do next.
"Let Arthur know about this matter and ask someone else to look into this matter. We will proceed with the plan tonight." Cane was well aware, there would be nothing much he could find about this mysterious man, since they didnât know where to start gathering information about him, but he needed to alert his men about his appearance at least.
"What about the sorcerer?" Jace asked. He finally shifted his attention away from Caneâs hand.
"Haco will arrive tonight."
And with that, the plan was in motion, while Cane was still trying to figure out the mysterious manâs identity, who had shown Iris the ability of this little lizard. He had never heard something like this, but probably it was because Cane was too ignorant about the matters surrounding magic and the Holy Kingdom and the rare creatures of the Serafim.
But, after he heard what Haco said about the lycan and the attachment of the cursed beast to Iris, also the salamander, which was no other than a creature that belonged to Serafim, he wanted to get more information about the Holy Kingdom. However, it was only next an impossible thing for him to get such information even if he went to the Andelus continent, as the Holy Kingdom was not a place for a shifter like him.
More so, he had a way to make them come here instead...
==============================
"Master, are you sure it is wise to help that alpha?" Sabian asked his master. He stared at the flying hawk Lou set to fly across the ocean to reach the Holy Kingdom, carrying Alanâs handwritten missive, in which he spilled the beans about what happened in this continent along with the appearance of the lycan and black magic. "It is so dangerous to get involved with the Holy Kingdom..." The old man looked worried for his masterâs sake.
As far as he knew, it was actually Lou who wanted to take advantage of Cane and use this alpha for his own benefit. However, it was completely the other way around from the way he looked at things right now.
His master was smart, but how did the Alpha convince him to take this risk?
"Why not? Why do you think it is dangerous?" Lou asked nonchalantly, as he stared at the flying hawk, which looked so tiny in the vast night sky.
"Master!" Sabian felt so helpless with his masterâs recklessness. Before, he caused trouble within the palace with the sudden monster attacks that almost cost him his life, because he couldnât control the portal, but right now, he actually poked his head into the problem between the Ogregon continent and the Holy Kingdom.
"Nah." Lou waved his hand casually. "You are worrying too much. I just sent the letter, but it is in Alanâs handwriting and itâs also him who spilled the beans about what happened here, though his father tried his hardest to conceal it." Stupid people were amusing, at least, as long as they didnât drag him down with their stupidity. "I have nothing to do with it. They canât track me down, even if Alan confessed, I just need to deny it."
"Master! Itâs not easy to deny such a thing! You met with him in person inside his bedroom."
"Thatâs right. The room is locked and there are guards at every corner, how can I enter the room? I was not there in the first place." Lou shrugged his shoulders and walked away, whistling happily.
But little did Lou realize, if they couldnât even connect his involvement with suggesting such a thing to Alan, it would be even more impossible for them to trace this all back to Cane.
A week had passed since Lou sent the letter to the Holy Kingdom, they must have received it by now and this early morning, the whole capital city was in an uproar with the news that Alpha Cane managed to track down the lycan that had kidnapped his mate in the Riverside pack.
Not only that... there was another piece of shocking news along with it.
"They found Vemionâs body?" Lou looked at Sabian in shock. "In the Riverside pack house?"
"Yes, Master," Sabian reported to his master in a low voice on their way to the site, where they would finish building up the device. It would take them a few more days and they would be done with it. "Actually, not his body... but, only his head, the lycan had decapitated the fourth princeâs body."
"What about Iris?" Lou couldnât care less about Vemion, the lycan could chew Vemionâs body for all he cared. "How is she?"
"The Luna is fine. Currently, they are residing in the pack house of Riverside pack. Alpha Cane is investigating Alpha Gill now."
