Chapter 507
The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 507: THE NIGHT OF THE FUNERAL Iris would feel really uncomfortable if they had to kill Chrystal for something that she couldnât control. She did not make any grave mistakes, it was just that the timing was not right.
"Cane..." Iris tried. "Let me talk to her, okay?" She cupped his face and stared into his eyes.
"Iris, you know the answer already. I hate to break your heart, but this is not something negotiable." Cane kissed her palm to appease her, but he could still feel how tense she was with his decision. "You donât need to be there. Just forget about this matter, I will take care of it."
Iris knew what exactly Cane meant when he said he would take care of it. It didnât make her feel better at all.
"Iris." Cane caressed her cheeks and stared into her eyes. He had warned her before that things like this would happen. If it had been in the past, he would have been assertive with her. But, it was different now and Cane found himself softening at the sight of her. He felt horrible for disappointing his mate. "We canât take the risk, especially with the situation we are in. The risk is too big to let her live."
Iris bit her lip, she couldnât say she didnât understand what they had at stake here, but at the same time, she couldnât completely agree with his decision.
Now, she truly realized her situation. This wouldnât be the last time she would be in this position. There would be many cases in the future like this and it was common sense in this sick world to silence anyone that they couldnât trust when they knew so much.
There was no common ground for this matter, but knowing this was something that needed to be done, they left this matter at that.
"Tell me what happened to you when we were in the Goffa mountain. How come you can finally hear?" Cane tried to change the topic, since the previous one had been settled and he wouldnât change his decision on that.
"Oh... I think I know the story of Lu and the first Serafim..."
And with that, Iris told Cane everything she had seen when she lost consciousness and how she concluded that whatever dark magic Lady Cyan had resorted to had triggered something inside her. Not only her, but the lycan within Cane as well.
freewebnÏvel.cѳm They spent their time talking, there were a lot of topics they needed to cover and even after spending hours, they were nowhere near done.
This was also the first time for Cane to share his thoughts and have a long conversation, since he used to think and decide everything on his own.
The more they talked about their current situation, the more Cane realized how fascinating Irisâ way of thinking was. She approached every matter from a different view that had never crossed his mind before.
Women indeed had different ways of thinking and with this, he could figure out a little bit of Lady Cyanâs approach...
============================
"Order from the Alpha," Redmond said. He entered the Lunaâs bedroom Sofia occupied without even knocking on the door first, which made her screech. She was still shocked because of the near death situation yesterday and had been having these cramps from all the stress of her own situation.
Therefore, Maria had been tending to her and nursing her, so she wouldnât harm the baby further.
"Donât you know how to knock?!" Sofia screamed at the red-haired guy, who looked so brazen and reckless, as he settled on a chair near her bed and crossed his arms before staring at her with that disturbing gaze.
"Direct order from the Alpha," Redmond repeated his words, completely ignoring Sofiaâs protests. "You need to clear this room and stay in a new house, outside of the pack house."
Sofia pressed her lips, she gritted her teeth, as she tried to hold back her tears. If it was before, she would have rejected the idea and screamed at the top of her lungs that this was the Alphaâs firstborn, but after that night, she was not sure what to believe anymore.
Redmond tilted his head, waiting for this woman to scream her head off, but it was so weird when she was being so quiet.
"Hello, did you hear what I said?" Redmond waved his hand, as if to get attention from Sofia, which made the pregnant woman glare at him. "Well, thatâs better..."
It was only an hour before the funeral for the fallen warriors, but Redmond didnât feel like attending it. It wasnât purely because of the fact that the dead bodies of the warriors from the Blue Moon pack would be left in the Goffa mountain to let nature take care of them, what Jace said to soften the intent behind it...
Letting nature take care of them my ass. They were feeding them to the monsters.
However, Redmond couldnât demand anything, nor did he want to. There was no point in that. He realized the gravity of the situation. More so, they were already dead and he didnât want to create more friction between himself and the warriors from the Howling Wolf pack. The current feeling of walking on eggshells around them was already pretty irritating enough to him.
"Was that... really you, that night?" Sofia finally asked through her gritted teeth.
"Yeah, it was me." Redmond tilted his head lazily. "Should we go at it again to make you remember?"
"Bastard!" Sofia screamed, as she threw a pillow toward the warrior, but he simply swatted it away without any effort. "You got me pregnant with your baby!"
Redmond was offended, what was wrong with carrying his offspring?
"You made yourself pregnant by not taking the medicine, woman. And the fact you came all the way here to frame him is pretty lame. You should know the Alpha has a peculiar taste. He likes bright colored hair."
Redmond was so good with his words, not in a good sense, to push all the wrong buttons on someone.
Sofia knew the meaning behind his words, but if he thought he could hurt her with such lame sarcasm, he must be dreaming. She led a life of being the mistress of Alpha Gallot, where she had to compete with the other mistresses. It helped sarcasm and insults become her own language.
Women like her probably were even more fluent in talking shit while wrapping it in beautiful words more than those alphas.
Instead of screeching like before, Sofia threw Redmond a mocking smirk. "Oh, thatâs why, even though you came from the Blue Moon pack, he keeps you around, because you are his type?" She nodded at Redmondâs red hair.
Redmondâs expression turned dark when he heard that. It was so repulsive for one to even think about it. He wanted to gag and it must be seen on his face, because Sofia laughed at him. Her heart was a little bit lighter after she got back at him.
On the other hand, even though Redmond was good at making snide comments, his patience was only the size of a teaspoon.
Redmond immediately stood up and started to pack her things.
"What are you doing?!" Sofia started panicking when she realized what Redmond intended to do.
"What? Didnât you hear me? This is a direct order from the Alpha, he wanted you to clear this room and move away from the pack house."
"But... but, he said... he offered me a deal!" Sofia became anxious, she got off the bed and approached Redmond to stop him. "Stop this!"
Redmond turned around and smirked at her. "He never said that he will let you occupy the room until the end."
"But, what about his plans? What about the plan to get back at Alpha Gallot?! He wants to ruin his own plans? What if people start thinking he denied the child and they find out the child is not his before the right time?" Sofia didnât want to believe the child in her stomach was not the Alphaâs, but there was something in Caneâs voice that made her believe that once she was calm enough to think the matter through.

"The situation has changed, the plan has changed as well." Truthfully, Redmond didnât know what was in Caneâs mind. He was having a hard time keeping up with the way his mind worked. All of a sudden, he was summoned a few hours ago to prepare a small house outside of the pack house for Sofia and was ordered to help her move out of the Lunaâs bedroom.
Iris didnât seem to know about this, since she was fast asleep when he received the order. But even so, Redmond was pleased that Cane finally took a decision about this woman, so people could stop talking about Iris and corner her with arguments that compared her and Sofia, pointing out how the former was not yet pregnant.
"What changed? I donât want to move!"
"Donât worry, your little, old servant will come with you as well. She must have been told about this plan by now."
Redmond then ignored the way Sofia cursed at him and found the joy in making her even angrier than this, as he kept tidying up her belongings, while humming an off-tuned song.
Meanwhile, Cane was helping Iris wear her dress, both of them would wear clothes in the color of their pack and lead the funeral.
Iris was wearing a simple black dress. All of them would bring a candle each and all the sources of light would be put off during the ceremony.
