Chapter 533
The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 533: KELLAN WILL BE A GOOD CHOICE "Hanna, I am not here for a fight..." Kaz said in a small voice, sighing deeply. He rushed here to find the Alpha before he could take a proper meal. It was because of how important he needed to thank the Alpha.
But, the way Cane reacted and what he said completely threw him off guard, he didnât think the Alpha would say it was actually the Luna, who asked for him to be released. But, why? After what he had done, it didnât make sense for her to be the one to release him from the dungeon.
Didnât she want revenge after how he treated her? Didnât she feel bitter toward him and the others for favoring the woman, who was pregnant with the Alphaâs firstborn, even though she was the Luna? It didnât make sense in Kazâs mind.
"I will never forgive you for what you have said and done to her, Kaz." Hanna looked very furious, while the old man could only lower his head.
Initially, he respected Hanna more than he did Iris, because before they learned the truth about Irisâ involvement, all the members of the Howling Wolf pack saw Hanna as their savior, while Iris was just Geraldâs daughter.
And for some reason, that belief engraved so deeply, it was hard to be changed. It touched their subconscious level, where they didnât even think about it, as if that was the hard truth for them and it was still true for Kaz, Maria and some other pack members.
"All of that was a misunderstanding," Kaz said tiredly. With the Alphaâs refusal to talk to him, he felt someone just stabbed his heart. It was so painful to see he lost the Alphaâs trust and favor. "Your missy was too sensitive..."
Kaz immediately stopped himself when he heard the way Hanna growled dangerously. She balled her fists and looked like she was going to attack Kaz right there and then, apparently his skull was very thick, so he was not able to accept the reality. He couldnât even hear properly what the Alpha said. It was Iris, who had asked him to be released and here he was, having not even an ounce of feelings like gratefulness for her missy.
Not to mention, he tried to play down how hurt Iris was...
If she was allowed, Hanna really wanted to claw Kazâs face and give him a lesson or two, she was sure she could take down this old steward by herself.
However, Kaz noticed her wrath and immediately walked away from her. He said nothing and left the training ground.
Hanna was not as kind as he thought she was.
"Hanna," Cane called her over. He saw the altercation between the two and how tense his mateâs personal maid was.
But, because they were too far and talked in low voices, he couldnât hear the conversation between the two of them.
Hanna lifted her head and saw the Alpha, she immediately changed her expression and walked over, but it was hard to hide her feelings, not to mention it was almost impossible for her to hide anything before Caneâs observatory eyes.
Once Hanna stopped in front of the Alpha, she tried to avoid his eyes, but she obviously couldnât avoid his question.
"Why are you so angry?" Cane asked. He stared at Hanna closely and saw the maid was trying to hold back her temper in his presence, but Will put his arm around her shoulder to make her relax a little bit. The warrior was still very quiet.
"I am sorry, Alpha. I didnât mean to talk harshly to Kaz," Hanna said.
"Why are you so angry?" Cane simply repeated his question. He couldnât care less whether she talked harshly to Kaz or not.
"Itâs... nothing."
"Hanna, I will not repeat the same question," Cane said sternly this time, his voice demanded an answer from her and Willâs body stiffened, as he slightly stood in front of Hanna out of instinct to put himself between her and the Alpha.
Æreewebɳovel.com Hanna finally lifted her head, sensing the situation went south because she didnât give the Alpha a proper answer, thus in a small voice, she told Cane her grievances.
"I am sorry, Alpha, but I donât like the steward. I donât like the way Kaz talked to my missy when he informed her that Sofia moved into the Lunaâs bedroom because she is pregnant with... your child." Hanna bit her lip, but then she continued. "I donât like it when Kaz talks to my missy as if she was stupid just because she couldnât hear."
"Elaborate that." Caneâs eyes turned very cold and Will literally put himself between the Alpha and his woman now.
Hanna carefully proceeded to tell Cane the way Kaz talked to her missy that night they just arrived in the pack house and how he talked down to Iris, thinking she couldnât hear him. He talked in a very degrading way.
Hanna didnât try to make the old steward look so bad in front of the Alpha, but this was how she felt and she had been holding this grudge ever since then, only because everything that happened, she forgot about it a little bit.
However, when she saw Kaz again, the anger resurfaced and she felt so wronged on Irisâ behalf.
"I donât like the way he talked to her as if she was a child! She couldnât hear, but it didnât mean she was retarded!" Hanna ended up bursting into tears, not because of the sadness, but because of how angry she was.
Sometimes, when you were too angry and agitated, you couldnât help, but cry.
On the other hand, Cane remembered what Iris said in one of her outbursts the day she unintentionally hurt his wolf spirit. The first time he learned how hurt she was...
âWhy didnât they feel sorry for treating me badly in the first place?!â
âJust because I am deaf, it doesnât mean I donât know what they are talking about! I am not stupid! I am not an idiot! Why do they degrade me and think I am not smart enough?! I know what they are talking about, I am not stupid! I am a runt, but I am not stupid!â
Cane didnât understand why Iris came up with those words and didnât realize the depth of the words then, he thought she only said whatever in her mind to vent out her anger, but now it all made sense.
Add that to the fact Iris kept calling herself as a stupid person when she was drunk on alcohol. He felt a sharp pang in his chest when he realized how deep the pain Iris felt was.
You might not realize how much your words hurt someone until that person changed because of it.
=================================
Iris froze in her place, she wanted to run away and avoid this person, but she couldnât move her body. She felt like she was in one of her horrendous nightmares when she heard the words he used. They were such familiar words that she grew up hearing.
"Come here, you little slut!" Mason screamed, his voice dripped with demand, as he called Iris over. He knew it was her, though it had been a long time since the last time she saw her, he could still tell it was his dear little sister. "COME HERE!"
Iris was startled and her body moved on its own out of instinct. She might have forgotten about him until she heard his voice, but her body didnât. Her mind told her to leave, but her body obliged his demand, like it used to do almost her whole life.
"There you are... the little slut..." Mason said in his hoarse voice, as he coughed hard before he cackled in delight to see Iris in front of him. "You look well, Iris. Do you miss your older brother?"
Iris couldnât utter a single word, as her breathing quickened.
Her logic told her that Mason wouldnât be able to do anything to her in his current state, but there was something more powerful than her logic that controlled her right now. Trauma. Her mind froze.
"Why donât you come closer so your brother can see you clearly?" Mason said between his cackling and coughing. He dragged his body, while both of his legs looked very awkward, as if they were twisted in really wrong angles, one of his arms bent into a weird angle too, while half of his teeth were gone.

But right now, a beggar would look even better than him. He was unrecognizable, but still, Iris knew it was him.
"Why donât you come closer, so your brother can see you?" Mason was holding onto the bars, pressing his face as close as he could, so he would be able to get a better look at Iris. "You look so beautiful now. How long has it been since the last time I saw you? Have you given birth to that muttâs child?"
However, Mason then laughed so hard after he said that, as if he just said the funniest joke ever.
"How could he impregnate you when we ruined his private parts?! He must have shared you with someone else to get you pregnant!" He laughed hysterically. "Ah! I forgot! The baby must have golden eyes to pass as his child." Mason tilted his head, a devilish smirk lifting the corners of his lips.
"Kellan will be a good choice."
