Chapter 676
The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 676: BLACK RAIN AND DARK SKY (18)
Ethan was amazed by how shameless the merchant could be. He didnât even bother to hide it.
"You know thatâs not appropriate for you to act like this?" Ethan narrowed his eyes, he had been weighing down his option to tell Iris about this or not, since the only person, who could purify the black magic was only her. The Serafim was there too, but Ethan didnât think even the Serafim could do it as quick and as effective as Iris.
The power that Iris held was very strong, even though she had not yet really noticed it.
"Like what? I am helping you, do I not?" Lou raised his brows, he fished out three magic stones from his pocket, now he was in the black market, he could get as many as magic stone he needed and didnât need to act like a beggar when he asked for magic stone from Cane.
"Why do you very obsess with Iris?" Ethan narrowed his eyes, he watched how the portal was created and after watching this a few times, he was still in awe by how the magic worked. "You can get yourself killed one day."
"I think you are going to get killed first by your alpha for what you are doing right now." Lou rolled his eyes dramatically. His veins bulged when he tried to stabilize the portal. He was not lying when he said he was tired and had no more energy.
fɾeeweÉnѳveÉ.com "I am not going to die alone." Ethan glanced at Lou, indicating if he was going to get killed by Cane, he would make sure, Lou came with him as well, since he was the one, who opened the portal.
Lou scoffed, but he said nothing when he concentrated to create the portal.
Ethan entered the portal first and found Iris was sleeping, she was alone, while Aliana was nowhere to be seen. He was a little bit disappointed because he couldnât see her.
"I am sorry, I am sorry..." Ethan muttered, as he marched toward the bed and shook Irisâs body to wake her up. "Iris, wake up. Wake up, please..." he called her name a few times hastily, until she opened her eyes sleepily.
"Ethan?" Iris rubbed her face, but then she looked around her and only found Lou, who was grinning at her. "Where is Cane?" Her first instinct was to ask for her mate.
"Well, I shouldnât be offended, but donât you want to ask about me? We have not yet met for almost a month." Ethan was a little bit sullen. He knew Cane visited Iris a few times with the help of Lou.
Iris blinked her eyes and smiled innocently. "You look very great, handsome as always."
"Donât flatter me, pregnant lady," Ethan chuckled, but his expression turned serious. "Now get up, you need to come with me, Cane needs your help."
The smile on Irisâs face fell when she heard that. "What happened with him?"
"Donât worry, he got a little scratch, thatâs all." Ethan scratched the back of his head, which made Iris didnât believe him even more. "This is something that you can do by only a single touch, okay. You donât need to worry."
Iris didnât want to listen to him anymore, as she got off from the bed and went straight to the portal that Lou created. Somehow, the merchant was very quiet. He didnât tease her or being his creepy self.
Ethan immediately followed her inside and Lou closed the portal.
Once Iris stepped in, it took her a while to realize where she was. It was the Rosantine guild in the Black Market.
"Over here, Iris," Ethan said, as he opened the door to Caneâs bedroom. Iris didnât waste time when she entered the room and found Cane was laying on the bed, his chest was bandaged tightly. He was sleeping, but when she came closer, he immediately opened his eyes, alerted by her scent.
"What is this? What are you doing here?" Cane asked, his eyes fell on Ethan and the gamma stopped a few steps away from the bed, afraid the alpha would pounce on him. He seemed going to do that, if it was not for Iris, who told him to lay down.
"Let me check on you!" Iris said sternly, she pushed Cane back to the bed and because of his injury, he didnât have the strength to go against her wish, more so, Cane wouldnât do anything that could upset Iris even more right now. "Lay down!"
Ethan raised his brows when he watched how the alpha listened to what Iris said and let her mate to check on him.
"You donât need to do this..."
"Be quiet!" Iris said sharply. She could feel the black magic from his wound. This was almost like what happened to Joel. Their wounds couldnât heal because the dark magic that lingered around it.
Cane stopped complaining and let Iris did whatever with him, while Ethan grinned. He made the right decision to call Iris over, but he hoped, he could be saved from the alphaâs wrath once Iris returned, because he was sure, Cane wouldnât let it go easily. He was someone, who was holding a grudge really well.
On the other hand, the alpha stared at his mateâs face, while she tried to purify the black magic from his wound. He stretched out his hand and caressed her cheek, smoothened her unkempt hair, from the look of it, it seemed, she just woke up, Cane was familiar with how she looked like when she just woke up.
"Cane!" Iris glared at him when he touched her earlobe and swatted his hand. "Stay still."
This time, Cane touched her stomach and smiled, which made Iris smiled too, though she was trying to concentrate on his wound.
Seeing this interaction, Ethan felt like he was being in the wrong place, at the wrong time. He mentally kicked himself for not getting his ass out of there sooner.
"I will come back with the healer." Ethan scurried away from the room, only to find Lou was sitting on the corridor with his head hung low. "What are you doing there? Sleeping?"
Ethan came closer to the merchant and saw blood dripped from his nose.
"What the hell with you?!" Ethan looked surprised to see the merchant looked like he just ran for seven days and seven nights without stopping.
"Oh, shut up..." Lou said in small voice. "Get me back to my room."
"I will ask someone to carry you."
Lou glared at him when he heard that. "I am not going to let my men see me in this way."
"So, what should I do? Do you expect me to piggyback you?"
"I donât mind if you carried me in your arms."
Ethan looked at Lou with disgust in his eyes when he heard that.
Meanwhile, inside the room, Iris took extra a few more minutes to make sure there was no remaining black magic in Caneâs body. She checked on it a few times, only then she looked a little bit relax.
"I will call the healer." Iris was about to get up, but Cane stopped her.
"You donât know this place or how to find the healer." Cane held her hand. "Ethan said he will call her. letâs wait."
Cane was right. Iris didnât know where to find the healer. She only knew some part of the guild, she could be lost in this place.
"Why he took so long?" Iris pulled her hair anxiously, her habit whenever she was being impatient and nervous.
"Come, lay down with me."
"No." Iris gave Cane a stern look. "You have a lot of things to explain to me Cane and you better talk right now. I am still upset because you left me without saying anything the last time you visit. You only used me to comfort the lycan, didnât you?"
Cane couldnât say the accusation was wrong, even though he really wanted to see her, but Iris was right about thirty percent of that, since Cane used the lycan to justify his visit.
"Keep your sorry, if your sorry was a food, I would have been very fat right now." Iris was furious with him. "You stop explaining things to me, you stop telling me about your plan and you even stop writing to me, what then? You will stop seeing me also? You donât find me attractive anymore now I am pregnant?"
Iris overheard the conversation between the mistresses of alpha Adrian, back then when they stayed in Diandem pack. They said the alpha stopped visiting them because their body change during pregnancy and only came after a few months they gave birth.
It was disgraceful to think Cane was the same like alpha Adrian, but with how Cane treated her recently, Iris couldnât help her mind and emotion from spiraling in that way.
Cane pushed himself to sit down and pull his mate closer, hugged her tightly, ignoring the pain in his chest. "I planned to make the Golden Lightâs warrior to march toward the south border as the reinforcement for the border warriors, in which weakened their protection around their pack, so alpha Colter could attack them. It went smoothly and now the Golden Light pack was divided, half of them would aid the border pack and some of them would fight to get their pack back from Red Claw pack..."
Cane then spent half an hour latter to explain his plan to Iris, all the things that he used to discuss with her before, the information that he held back from her because he didnât want to stress her out, but as it turned out, that was not the best way to communicate his concern for her wellbeing.
Putting her in the dark only stressed her out even more and let her mind and imagination ran wild.
"We will strike back when the reinforcement from the Holy Kingdom arrived in the Crystal Moon pack."
And for alpha Nolan, Cane decided to confine him inside Diandem pack. The alpha chose to stay there and blockage the gate for Cane not to be able to seek for shelter, but as it turned out that place became his confinement.
Iris listened to Caneâs explanation. He didnât apologize to her because she didnât want to listen to that empty word, instead he told her everything she wanted to know. This was his way to apologize.
"And how did you get this wound?" Iris wiped her tears and smoothened her hair, she became self conscious now she was a little bit calm.
"Thatâs..." A complicated look flashed in Caneâs eyes. He stared into Irisâs eyes deeply, which made her worried.

This time, ever since Cane managed to control the lycan in some way, the black magic that inflicted on him didnât cause the black wisp to appear, but still, it weakened him. He could feel the lycan had been poking its ugly head, trying to resurface, to take over his consciousness, especially now with Iris was here.
"Did you still remember when I told you that Ethan found Ariaâs body was missing?" Cane kissed the tip of her nose.
"Yes. Why?" Iris felt this uneasiness. Called her petty and vindictive, but she didnât like the mention of Ariaâs name. Why would they talk about her now?
"She is alive." Cane blurted out.
Iris frowned, it took some time for her to comprehend the meaning of it. "She is alive and she stabbed you?"
"Yes. She is supposed to be dead, Iris..." Caneâs concern was the fact Aria was still alive when there were thousand people witnessed her death, but Iris seemed not to be interested in that fact.
"She stabbed you with dark magic?!" Iris was clearly furious. "This is the second time she did that! How close she was to be able to stab you!?" Iris narrowed her eyes. "Why did you let her get close to you?"
