Chapter 833
The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 833: WHAT A LIE...
Alpha Derick had prepared himself and all the consequences that might happen when he decided to come, he was going to beg Cane if it was all that needed for them to save his son, despite their previous battle and how they were in different side, the alpha was determined to give him all, as long as his son was being saved. He couldnât care less about dignity and loyalty.
Seeing Cezi was on the brink of death and how he was going through this suffering made him wavered. He was not ready to be the one, who buried his own son.
As a parent, who watched their child came into this world and then was being forced to watch them to leave also was something that very cruel. No parent should have gone through that.
Alpha Derick was going to go down on his knees if that was what Cane wanted.
freeweÉnovel.cøm Fortunately for him, Cane didnât want him to disgrace himself, to stoop that low. He was suggesting this meeting not to humiliate him.
"How is Cezi?" Cane asked. They stood very close, even closer than the last time they met.
"He is in so much pain, he was unable to move and has been unconscious for the last few days," Alpha Derick replied. He looked like he had aged for a few years now. He then proceeded to tell him more detail about Cezi and how his burning scars had covered his chest and almost reached his throat. "He was having a hard time to breathe." Alpha Derick looked very gloomy.
Hearing that, Cane learned that everyone, who contracted with this disease had different reaction.
With Ethan, the disease reacted very aggressively and quickly. It didnât take long before the burning scar reached the gammaâs respiratory tract after the diagnose and caused him to have a hard time to breath, which would lead him to his death if Iris did nothing quickly and saved his life.
But for Cezi, he survived for a few weeks based on what Cane learned from his scout. Cezi should have been dead by now if the disease gave him the same reaction like to Ethan.
After a long explanation, alpha Derick stopped talking, he was waiting to hear what would be Caneâs demand. He most likely would ask for his alliance, to turn his back against prince Kellan.
However, Cane didnât do that. He kept silence and looked very calm, as if he was not going to say anything or having any demand.
Couldnât stay in this silence for a little bit longer when his son needed help quickly, alpha Derick was the one, who talked first.
"Cane, I received your message and accepted it. You said, you can heal my son. Please, do it and name the price for your help." Alpha Derick was being cautious and uncomfortably polite with Cane.
"Who said that?" Cane narrowed his eyes when he heard alpha Derickâs wrong assumption. "I never said I am going to heal your son."
Alpha Derickâs face fallen after what Cane said. The first thing that came to his mind was; he was being tricked and Cane was playing him within his palms. He looked around out of instinct, thinking he was being ambushed.
But then, Cane spoke again with the same tone.
"Itâs not me, but my mate. We need to wait for her," he said without any guilt at all for making alpha Derick scared for a moment there.
Realized his mistake, alpha Derick tried to keep it cool, as he cleared his throat and then mumbled a word; sure.
They waited for two more minutes before Iris came out of the carriage. She let loose her long, curly auburn hair behind her back and covered her front. Her big curls managed to cover her neck. She looked a little bit sullen, as if she was not in a good mood when she approached them.
Alpha Derick assumed, Iris didnât want to come here, but had no choice, but to follow what Cane wanted, but the truth would leave him stunned out of his mind.
"Cane, your mate is already here, we can start now." He didnât heed Iris. This was the first time he saw her and he didnât have any good impression on this Geraldâs daughter.
However, Cane noticed the way alpha Derick disrespected Iris and called him out on that.
"I told you before that itâs not me, who would heal your son, but âmy lunaâ," Cane emphasized the word âmy lunaâ to show Irisâs position in this matter.
She was his equal and the luna of his pack. He wouldnât accept any disrespectful toward her.
Alpha Derick was surprised when he heard what Cane said, but when he was about to retort, he recognized the look on Caneâs face and knew when to back down. Therefore, he shifted his attention toward Iris and nodded at her politely.
"Luna Iris." Alpha Derick had not yet met with Cane for years, but it didnât mean he would forget how stubborn this man was. That part had never changed. "Please, save my son. I will do whatever you wanted me to do, as long as you saved him. I will keep my word."
It was very clear what alpha Derick hinted. He was willing to throw aside his loyalty to Kellan if Iris could save Cezi. Iris only needed to say the word and subconsciously, alpha Derick waited for that. It was like the moment where you would say; I knew it. I have guessed it.
However, to alpha Derick surprised, Iris didnât do that, instead she asked about Ceziâs condition and together they went to the carriage, where the young man was laying down, dying.
"Letâs check on him," Iris said, she threw Cane a glare, but the alpha still had this innocent look on his face.
The carriage was not spacious enough for the four of them to enter together, so it was only Iris, who came inside and checked on Ceziâs condition, but from where alpha Derick was standing, he couldnât see clearly what was going on inside.
Meanwhile, Cane didnât even bother to look what his mate was doing inside, because he believed, she knew what she needed to do and in this matter, she couldnât help with anything. If Iris couldnât save Cezi, what chance did he have?
"Luna Iris," alpha Derick called for her, he wanted to urge her to save Cezi, but he bit back his word, because he didnât want to ruin her concentration.
More so, seeing how calm Cane was, alpha Derick decided to join him, though the look on his face couldnât lie how much he was worried for his son.
"I donât want to lose my son," alpha Derick said.
"No parent wanted to lose their child."
Caneâs reply made alpha Derick fell into silence, because he realized, Cane just lost his babies... again. He had gone through three of his childrenâ
deaths and now alpha Derick realized how insensitive his comment was about the death of his children. He couldnât imagine of losing all of his children.
"I am sorry for what I said before," alpha Derick said, his apology was genuine.
Albeit Cane accepted the apology, but he was not in the mood to dwell in that conversation, there was something else he wanted to have discussion on.
"What about Arella? How is she doing?" Cane asked impassively.
Alpha Derick was surprised when Cane chose this topic, but then he spoke in bitterness in his voice. "I donât blame you for Arellaâs condition, your aim was not her, but I still couldnât comprehend, why did you want to kill prince Kellan?"
Cane clenched his jaw. The mention of his name alone made his blood boiled, but he gained his composure pretty quickly before alpha Derick could notice that.
"Did he still have the little girls with him?"
"Yes." Alpha Derick was aware of the three little girls, who came and went from prince Kellanâs tent often, but it didnât proof anything.
"And you have never questioned that?"
"What should I question for?" alpha Derick narrowed his eyes. "The little girls were there to accompany Arella because she canât move. They were there to entertain her, thatâs all."
Cane glanced at alpha Derick, but he didnât say anything, making the latter became self consciousness, thinking he had said the wrong thing, or making a wrong judgment.
But then, there was this bright light that came from the carriage. This was the same light that they had seen weeks ago when Iris and Abby tried to save Ethan.
"Cane, are you sure, they are alright there?" alpha Derick asked, the light lasted for five minutes and as time went by, it put him on edge.
Cane didnât answer his question, but after five more minutes and Cane decided to enter the carriage to see what was going on, the light slowly faded and the sky turned to normal.
"Wow.... Thatâs a bright sky..." Ethan muttered. "Is that what happened when Iris saved me?"
"Yes," Aliana said. Both of them were sitting on the coachmen seats, watching the bright light. Now, they were not in dire situation, they could enjoy the sight. Actually, the light was otherworldly beautiful...
"She is amazing, you know... our luna," Ethan muttered under his breath. "How lucky we are to have her."
"You are right," Aliana agreed.
On the other hand, Ceziâs condition was very bad, but thankfully, Iris managed to save his life. She absorbed the dark magic behind the disease and just like what happened with Ethan, she could see through Cezi. His dark moment, his dark thought and learned more from it.
Iris realized this ability when she did it to Ethan and this was her bargain to make Cane accepted her idea to save Cezi. She knew, with how wicked Caneâs mind was working, he would have a hundred way to make use of this ability.
Knew what was in Ceziâs mind had its own advantage.
Iris watched how the burning scar disappeared from Ceziâs chest and she sighed in relief, but she couldnât come out right away, because she had to calm herself down. Though the dark memories didnât belong to her, but it was still shaken her.
"I am sorry all of those things happened to you..." Iris said, he pulled the blanket and covered Ceziâs body. He was breathing more normal now and would wake up within a few days.

"Everything is well?" Cane asked, he brushed her curls from her neck, but Iris swatted his hand away, because she didnât want to expose her neck until all the red marks he gave her disappeared.
"He will be fine, you can check on him." Iris glanced at alpha Derick, who immediately rushed into the carriage. The gamma, who came with them was also dumbstruck.
"So, what did you get?" Cane asked, he placed his hand around her waist and kissed her forehead.
Iris tiptoed and then whispered it to Caneâs ear, as he bent down his body to accommodate her height. He nodded at her words and looked satisfied.
"How are you feeling?"
"I will be fine," Iris replied truthfully. She was still shaking, but if she could face her worst memories, what Cezi showed her wouldnât be too harsh on her.
After a while, alpha Derick returned and confirmed Cezi looked better, he then looked at Iris, a little bit flustered.
"So, what do you want from me?" Because Iris and Cane had not yet named the price for their help, he asked about this openly. He didnât want to move in circle and this was not how Cane played his game.
However, to his surprised, Irisâs answer left him dumbstruck.
"I donât want anything from you." Iris looked at alpha Derick straight in his eyes. "I help you because Cane thought of you like his father."
What a lie...
