Chapter 921
The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 921: THE PEOPLE FROM THE HOLY KINGDOM IS HERE Iris didnât realize how much her lost not only affected her and Cane, but also the people around them. She failed to realize that, because they tried to act as normal as they could in front of her, too afraid to shake the boat.
However, in reality, the death of her babies affected the people that cared for them too.
Ethan watched how Aliana lost her baby, he was there when she had to go through her depression during the slavery, it was hard and cruel. Misery was an understatement to picture what actually happened during that period of time.
And when Iris lost her babies, there was a moment where Aliana spiraled down, though she didnât say it, but Ethan could see it.
After all, he was there when she lost her mate and her baby. The excruciating pain in her scream from across the cell from him, while he couldnât do anything and witness how that beautiful woman crumbled down.
He was locked in his cell and could only watch.
The death of Irisâs babies triggered something inside Aliana and she couldnât let it out because she had to take care of Iris at that time. More so, everyone was so worried about their luna and their alphaâs condition, she didnât want to add to it.
"I didnât say it to make you feel bad, Iris," Ethan said. He was afraid, Iris would take it in the wrong way, but he needed to explain this part to her, so she could get the context why he said that thing to Aliana.
"I know. I am fine." Iris truly understood. "Continue."
That was the very reason why he told Aliana that he didnât want to have a child with her. The conversation just came when they spent the night together for the first time, it was when they talked about the ideal future for them.
"She took two cups of Dragonheart in front of me." Ethan grimaced. Both of them knew there was no way for a pregnancy at time like this, they could understand why Cane was at a mess for a whole week upon knowing of Irisâs pregnancy and this miracle was completely an accident in Cane and Irisâs case. "She looked like she was drinking my blood instead."
Iris tried not to chuckle. She could imagine how Aliana glared down at him.
Itâs not that Ethan didnât want to have any child with Aliana, but he didnât want her to go through that pain and misery again, even after the war had ended and their lives relatively well. He didnât hate the idea of having a child, but he loved her too much to let her went through the pain.
"No offense, seeing you, pregnancy is not an easy feat." Ethan also heard from Redmond a few stories when he had to take care of Sofia.
"You know that Redmond could exaggerate his story, right? In that part, he is as dramatic as you."
"Oh, please, we donât have anything alike." Ethan rolled his eyes dramatically.
Iris could understand why Aliana was mad, but she could understand Ethanâs point too. The problem was; Ethan didnât have a chance to explain his side and Aliana assumed the worse when the gamma didnât speak up. She told him that.
"She is very scary. I think I need to gather my courage first before I talked with her." Ethan shuddered, he remembered how he felt like he was in a great danger under her glare.
"You need to gather your courage quickly." Iris patted Ethanâs shoulders. "I will try to speak with her."
"Yes, please, thank you, Iris! You are the best luna!" Ethan hugged her tightly. "You are the best luna I could ask for!"
Suddenly Zephyr separated them. "Are you crazy? Hugging the luna like that?" he glared at him. They understood how the relationship between Iris and Ethan, but not everyone had the same understanding. They were not in their pack and there were a lot of people that could spread nasty rumor.
They were already busy with Decratic, Holy Kingdom people, thus a rumor was not necessary needed to add to their plate.
For the next day, while Cane was busy to prepare their next journey to Red Claw pack, where Koda became very involved in this, Iris fulfilled her promise to distribute food supply to all of the pack member.
Since early this morning, many people had gathered in the square, waiting anxiously and there was still this disbelieve in their faces, while the children held their motherâs dress tightly, whining about how they were hungry.
They heard the luna from the Howling Wolf pack asked the people in the pack house to cook a big meal since last night and today they were going to serve it to people.
But, no one had ever done something like this before. Especially someone with high status like her. They wouldnât even be bothered if one of the people died right in front of them. That was the world they lived in.
Therefore, when it really did happen, they were shocked beyond word to actually receive the food.
"Is this poisoned?" one of them asked, sniffing the meal they just received, but once they tried it, the warmth that they had longed assuaged their anxiety. This was the nicest thing they had ever received. No one had ever gone this far for them, not even their own alpha.
For woman, if they couldnât give birth to boy, where once they grew up, they would be part of the warrior, they didnât hold any value and for the boy, who were bad at their training, they would have a miserable more trainings ahead of them.
However, before they could thank Iris for that, the luna had disappeared, she only stayed for an hour and then left, giving the task to the warriors.
The women and the elders in the pack were grateful for what Iris had done, while the men were curious how could a luna do that much and the alpha didnât say anything.
Thing went the way Cane wanted. People were grateful for Irisâs kindness, but they feared Cane. If you couldnât gain their respect yet, fear was a tool to keep them in check.
After that, they didnât need to worry about food anymore, until the supply arrived ten days later.
"Four little girls and boys brought this flower for you, miss," Hanna said, she put the flower next to her bed, when she woke her up.
Thanked to Graceâs concoction, Iris didnât feel as bad as before in the morning, but recently, she had woken up late and Cane didnât allow anyone to disturb her sleep, which meant, she could wake up in lunch time.
"Beautiful," Iris replied sleepily. It reminded her to the moment when people sent her so many flowers after they learned of what she had done for them during their slavery. "I am hungry, Hanna."
Hanna chuckled. "I guess so you are. I will prepare your meal, miss!"
Caneâs party had to wait for this supply too before they could march toward Red Claw pack, since they needed to replenish their supply after they distributed it with the pack member.
However, not only the food supply that arrived, but Rei and the Holy Kingdom people too. They came to join them again.
Rei personally asked for an audience with the alpha and the luna.
"Canât we kick him out or something?" Redmond displayed his dislike openly. Without the taunting and the competition between the shifters and the knights, it was a peaceful day.
"You are welcome to do it, if you want. Run along and tell this to the alpha and the luna." Ethan waved his hands nonchalantly. The gamma was in constant bad mood during the whole week and they guessed it had anything to do with Aliana, though they didnât know what was the problem.
"Who are you to order me around?" Redmond then asked one of his warriors to deliver the message.

Without the permission from the alpha, they were not allowed to enter.
And to their surprised, they actually waited, instead of causing a ruckus.
"We came in peace. We only wanted to talk with the alpha and the luna!" one of the knights shouted from below the fortress, delivered the word from the elders. "To show our good intention, we can offer a solution to cure the brave merchant, Sir Lou."
Redmond and Ethan sneered at the same time when they heard that.
"Brave merchant?" Redmond scowled. "Donât let Lou hear about that, I can imagine he would brag for a whole month."
"Yeah, that knight should talk more realistic."
In a way, both Redmond and Ethan didnât think they were going to lose Lou.
"That merchant is too stubborn to die," Redmond said. "Has Iris figured out a way to heal him?"
"She said she found a way, but she didnât explain it."
They fell into silence. They would make time to check on Louâs condition in separate occasion and it didnât look good every time they came around.
Shockingly, the warrior that Redmond sent to deliver the message returned and tell them Rei could enter the gate, while the rest could wait outside.
"Really?" Redmond frowned. "Do you think they are up to something?"
"Do you think this is Caneâs idea?" Ethan asked no one in particular.
"It is hard to tell, Iris is getting wicked nowadays too," Redmond stated the obvious.
