Chapter 937
The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 937: THE FINAL BATTLE (3)
This was a memory.
When Irisâs power fussed with Reiâs, she saw his memories. It almost felt like when she absorbed the black magic from Ethan and Lou. She could see a glimpse of their past. The same thing happened with Abby too.
In Reiâs memory, Iris saw a young woman, around the seventeen, she looked like her, but with long, black hair, staring at the distance. She stared at the moon with longing in her eyes.
Beside her was a man, around the same age as her, standing close by. He was wearing the black cloak with hoodie that covered his face. This was an attire that a member of pure faction used to wear, while the other member of the Holy Kingdom used to wear white cloak.
It meant, whoever this woman was, she lived within the pure factionâs control. And this woman could be...
"What are you doing here, Nera?" Rei asked. He looked the same, but at the same time, he was slightly different. He looked cheerful and full of energy. There was this deep adoration and love in his green eyes for the woman that he called Nera.
Without doubt. She was Irisâs mother. She looked so young and extremely beautiful. Her eyes glinted under the moonlight and her black hair matched with the night sky.
She looked very serene and peaceful.
Meanwhile, the young man resigned himself and nodded politely at Rei, in which he ignored, as his main focus was on the woman before his eyes.
"The night is so cold, you need to go back. You will put your health at risk if you stayed here for long." Rei leaned over and kissed her forehead.
"I donât want to do it again," Nera said in small voice. "The ritual was very painful. I donât want to do it again."
Hearing that, a harsh slap landed on Neraâs face, which made her body fell to the ground, but the next second, Rei had crouched down and hugged her protectively, as if he didnât hit her in the first place.
"You shouldnât have said that. You need to bear it for a while." Rei caressed her back, hugging her carefully. "Your body will be able to take it. You only need to bear with it for a while. The whole process is almost done. You canât give up now," Rei said. "I am sorry, I didnât mean to hurt you, but you shouldnât have said something that upset me."
Rei freed her and cup her face between his palms, as he kissed her swollen cheek gently.
"Donât make me upset again, okay? I hate to hurt you." Rei watched how her woman nodded her head obediently.
freewebnoveâ.com And the memory stopped there, as Iris was pulled back to reality, where she saw Rei was staring at her. It seemed, he knew what she had seen and didnât expect Iris to pry into his past.
Meanwhile, the blinding white light that emanated from Irisâs body slowly dissipated, where the darkness returned, but the five dragons managed to be tamed.
The five ancient creatures stopped burning the ground and flew so close to the ground, as two of them had landed near the protection web.
Right at that time, the lycan didnât even wait, as he used his black wisp to cut off two of the dragonâs head in one swift move! Lu didnât have a patient to wait and listen what Rei was going to do with these creatures after he managed to control them.
If Rei managed to control the dragon, it meant, he would get more power for himself and Lu wouldnât let it.
They had the same goal now, but after everything was over, they were standing at the opposite of the bridge. Lu would not take a risk by letting him to get stronger.
In this case, the lycan acted the way Cane would.
"Wh- what is that?" Iris stared at Rei with a mixed of emotions. She heard about the second child of Elder Rose and her mother was a splitting image of the elder that was why, in the beginning people would talk how Iris and Abby looked similar, though it was still a question where did they get their red hair and blue eyes. "Was that... my mother? The second baby of Elder Rose is my mother?"
Iris put two and two together and she got this conclusion.
Elder Rose was shocked when she heard this. She couldnât her mind around Irisâs statement. She thought she misheard it. How did she know about her second child?
"What do you mean with that?" Elder Rose asked in low voice, she had been distracted by an entirely different matter. She didnât look like she wanted to survive whatever the outcome of this war, but what Iris said snatched her attention.
Yet, Iris didnât heed her question, her entire focus was on Rei.
"Thatâs my mother, right? I saw your memory. I am sure of it. Thatâs my mother, right? You called her name. Nera. Thatâs my mother." Iris didnât have any picture of her mother, because Gerald didnât want to be reminded of her, but one time, her sitter drew a picture of her mother and she remembered that, since the old lady was quite talented.
"What did you see?" Elder Rose came forward, she wanted to shake Irisâs body, so she could talk more, but Elder Dandolf had stopped them.
"We are in the middle of a war, can you please focus on this. Letâs put aside irrelevant matter," Elder Dandolf said wisely. "We will have a lot of time to talk about this once we could win this war."
Rei didnât say anything. He didnât look remorseful, only sad.
On the other hand, Iris really wanted to know more, but she couldnât afford to be distracted, since her emotions would affect Decraticâs strength. She knew, she was going to be emotional if she heard the explanation and even hated Rei more.
Meanwhile, the lycan managed to kill one more dragon, which left him with only two dragons to take care of. It was an easy assignment for the lycan, knowing how much he loved violence and the dragon couldnât fight him back.
However, before Lu could tear the next dragon, the creature seemed to snap back to its sense and when the lycan was in mid air to get to the dragon, this magnificent creature tilted its head and breathed fire right at Luâs direction, which engulfed the lycan in a great flame.
"NO!" Iris roared when she witnessed this.
Everything went too fast, she didnât have time to react, neither she saw it coming. Wasnât the dragon under Reiâs control? He put them under the illusion, right? He managed to control them, but why the dragons suddenly snapped back?
Iris didnât think twice when she rushed out of the protection shield.
"No! Stop her!" Rei said in panic and Elder Dandolf immediately grabbed Irisâs elbow to stop her, but she swatted his hand and used the black wisp to create a barrier, which stopped the elder from getting close to her.
And once she stepped out of the web protection, it collapsed. Since Rei had warned her before not to touch it, because it filled with black magic and Irisâs touch would dissolve it.
Without the protection, some of the knights got burned. These were the knights, who were still under Reiâs illusion, thus they couldnât move on their own to save themselves, but Iris couldnât careless about what happened to them.
Her main focus right now was to get to Lu as soon as possible. She dreaded the worse and her mind started spiraling down to a dark place.
Thankfully, when Iris arrived, she could see the lycan landed on all four and looked fine. Apparently, he used his black wisp as protection and it managed to hold back the heat from the dragonâs fire.
The lycan looked livid and was about to charge forward, but he stopped when he saw Iris. Instead, he rushed back toward her and let her ride on his back.
This was not the first time they took down a dragon together. Before, Iris also rode on the beastâs back when they fought a dragon.
If you watched closely, you would be able to see how the lycan snickered, as Iris pulled out the sixth sword and stabbed the dragonâs neck. Black blood started oozing out from the wound, but the lycan was not done yet, he maneuvered and used a big rock to propel his body up, so he could be on the dragonâs back, giving Iris more access to cause more damage on the dragon.
The dragon hollered in pain and flapped its gigantic wings and brought them up to the sky, yet the lycan used the black wisp to steady himself and Iris on the dragonâs back, while Iris swung her sword and cut the dragonâs neck.
This sword must be extremely sharp to be able to cut through the dragonâs hard scales. She didnât even need to exert her strength to do so.
Iris screamed when the dead dragonâs body dived down to the ground. With this altitude, Iris was sure she was going to die once they touched the ground. She was not going to make it!
"Arrghh!" Iris screamed, as she buried her face against the beastâs fur and waited for the impact.
However, before the dead body of the dragon made a collision with the ground, the lycan jumped right in time and landed safely, watching how the magnanimous dragonâs body collided against the ground and created a shockwave that was akin to an earthquake.
It took some time for Irisâs mind to register that they were fine and the first thing she saw was her little lights, rested on her curls.
"A- are we okay?" Iris asked, stuttering because that was very scary.
The lycan was very accommodating, as it lowered its body and let Iris slid down from its back and sat on the ground. Fire around them.
Meanwhile, from the look of it, Rei seemed to try to get the last dragon in his control.
The lycan nudged Irisâs face, as if asking whether she was alright. It let out a distressful whimper when Iris didnât say anything.
"Yes, I am fine... the babies are fine too." Iris kissed the lycanâs head when it nudged her stomach. She could feel her babies were moving. She really wished they were not in this situation, so they could cherish this moment together.
But, unfortunately, life was not so kind to you.
"I am fine... I am fine..." Iris rested her head against the lycanâs and closed her eyes for a while. The heat bothered her, but it was still bearable.

She narrowed her eyes. She didnât believe he lost his control over the dragon earlier. If Lu couldnât protect himself, he would have turned into ashes by now.
This man.
He would be the first person that she killed after everything was done. Iris took a deep breath. Her hatred toward Rei would only fuel Decraticâs power and the more she thought about it, the angrier she became.
Iris looked up to the night sky and closed her eyes once again. She saw a glimpse of how Na did it and she tried to copy that.
A few second later, rain started pouring down from the night sky, put off the fire around them and made the ground more bearable.
This rain felt like a salvation and managed to quenched their thirst, giving them strength to continue this fight.
And from behind the curtain of rain, Iris watched someone approached them. She thought, it was one of the pure factionâs people, but upon closer look, she realized it was Ethan! He carried someone behind his back.
"Iris! Help me! Help me!" Ethanâs voice cracked, as he called her name in desperation.
