Chapter 17
My Wife Is An All-Around Expert
Chapter 17
Violet spoke honestly, âIâm moving out.â
Henryâs tone was cold. âHave we been abusive to you? Wasnât there a room for you?â
Violet pursed her l*ps, about to speak, but Veronica interrupted, âViolet, you are truly despicable. You know well enough the awful things youâve done. Now that youâre getting into Foreverie Jewelry and suing me, you must be feeling quite pleased with yourself, right? You may be pretending to be pitiable in front of our father, but I know youâre secretly thrilled about it.â
Veronicaâs gaze was as though she wanted to devour Violet. If Henry was not present, she might have already lunged at her.
Henry sternly said, âVeronica, thatâs enough.â
Veronica, with red eyes, shot a venomous look at Violet but remained silent.
Henry continued to look at Violet. âYou have to leave, right?â
Thinking about Patrickâs words, Violet replied, âYes, I have to.â
Henryâs eyes flickered. He then asked, âWhen did you meet Patrick?â
Violet answered truthfully, âA couple of days ago.â
âHow is your relationship with him?â Henryâs tone sounded unusually calm. Violet was struck dumb. âItâs okay.â
Henry suddenly smiled. âWell, if it wasnât okay, why would he let you into Foreverie Jewelry and help you sue Veronica?â
Seeing Henryâs smile, Violet felt that he was hiding something. A chill ran down her spine. She wanted to leave as soon as possible. She asked, âDad, do you have anything else to discuss?â
Henryâs smile faded when he heard that. âYes, canât you withdraw your lawsuit and not sue Veronica?â
Violet froze. While she knew that Henry always favored Veronica, she did not expect him to be so straightforward in making the request.
Faced with her father, Violet felt a bit resentful. âVeronica copied my designs and turned the tables on me by suing me first. Besides, now that Iâm an employee of Foreverie Jewelry, they surely donât want their company associated with a plagiarism scandal. So theyâre taking legal action against Veronica to clear my name. These decisions were made by Foreverie Jewelry, and I donât have the right to interfere.â
Violet sensed a momentary chill in Henryâs eyes as he responded, âIs that so? Well, then help Veronica. Talk to Mr. Hersey and ask him not to push Veronica to the brink.â He paused, gazing at Violet. âAfter all, Veronica is your sister. Besides,
youâve presented a lot of evidence, and now the whole world has seen it. Everyone is on your side. The people on Twitter are all condemning and berating Veronica. Sheâs so terrified she wonât even leave the house, fearing recognition and humiliation. Doesnât that give you some satisfaction? Canât you let her off the hook? Must you go to such extremes?â
Listening to her fatherâs imposing tone, Violet furrowed her brow. âIâll talk to Mr. Hersey. Iâm leaving now.â
With that, Violet grabbed her suitcase and planned to leave. She had no desire to stay in this house for another moment. She just wanted to get away as quickly as possible.
Henry grabbed her suitcase and held it tightly. He stared at Violet for a few seconds before saying, âWell, if you want to leave, thatâs fine. But stay for dinner first. Benedict is coming over. After dinner, weâll arrange for a driver to take you back to where youâre staying.â
Violetâs expression changed slightly. She could tell what Henry was implying. He wanted her to meet with the wealthy and extravagant young man, Benedict Turner, and consider a possible marriage alliance.
âNo need, I donât want to⦠Violet began to reply, but Henry interrupted her sharply. âWhy are you so unwilling to have dinner with me? I know Veronica copied your designs, but that wasnât my doing. Why are you angry with me?â Violet looked up at Henry and asked, âIf I have dinner, will you let me leave, Dad?â Henry looked at her and replied, âOf course. I mean, I canât tie you up, can I?â Violetâs mood darkened. She reluctantly released her suitcase.
Veronicaâs gaze
âs gaze followed Violet like a poisonous snake, but she did not confront her directly.
Benedict arrived quickly. Upon seeing Violet, he had a satisfied expression. âMiss Webb, allow me to introduce myself, I am Benedict Turner.â Benedictâs clingy gaze remained fixed on Violet.
Violet felt repulsed by his gaze and responded coldly, âViolet Webb.â
Benedict approached her closely and sat beside her, saying, âMiss Webb, donât be so cold. Letâs have a conversation first and get to know each other better.â
Violet furrowed her brow, glanced at Benedict, then got up and headed to the
restroom.
Fortunately, dinner was served quickly, and Benedict did not have another chance to approach her.
During the meal, Violet just wanted to finish quickly and leave. However, she started feeling increasingly drowsy and realized something was wrong. She struggled to get up and said, âDad, Iâm feeling a bit underâ¦â
Before she could finish her sentence, she collapsed back into her chair and then.
onto the dining table.
Seeing Violet collapse, nob*dy at the table displayed any surprise.
Henry remained expressionless as if he had expected this. He coldly ordered,
âBenedict, carry her to the room.â
