Chapter 29
My Wife Is An All-Around Expert
Chapter 29
Russell spun around in a fit of rage. âAre you looking for trouble? Who the hell wants to dieâ¦â
He turned his head and was met with Patrickâs expressionless face, causing his words to catch in his throat.
Violet, upon spotting Patrick, immediately seemed a bit flustered. âWhat are you doing here?â
Patrick glanced casually at Violet and replied tersely, âHaving lunch.â
With that, he shrugged off Russellâs hand, retrieved a handkerchief from his suit pocket, and slowly wiped his fingers as though they were tainted by something filthy.
Russellâs face changed.
Violetâs mouth couldnât help but twitch slightly.
After tossing the handkerchief into the trash, Patrick subconsciously positioned himself in front of Violet. He nonchalantly raised an eyebrow at Russell. âHow did you find out about my marriage to Violet?â
He was just there for lunch, and he happened to notice that Russell had been bothering Violet. Russell had menacingly threatened to reveal his marriage to Violet.
Patrick found it utterly absurd. When had his marital status become a weapon for Russell to threaten Violet?
Russell glanced at Patrick, his bravado waning. âVeronica told me.â
Patrickâs eyes narrowed dangerously. âThen do you believe that you can threaten. me with that too?â
Russell flinched, his gaze locked on Patrick, but he remained silent.
At that moment, Nelson finally caught up and murmured softly in Patrickâs ear, âMr. Hersey, Veronica attempted suicide this morning, and itâs all over the news now. She claimed to be Miss Webbâs sister and accused Russell of deceiving her. She had no knowledge of his twoâtiming and plagiarism. She handled it with finesse, and now the internet is flooded with sympathy. Theyâre saying Miss Webb was so heartless. It was she who had forced Veronica into this tragedy. If news of your marriage to Miss Webb gets out, theyâll surely think that Violet abused her power and bullied Veronica.â
Patrick raised an eyebrow, his gaze frosty. âThen why didnât you tell me earlier?â
Nelson shrugged, his voice barely audible. âDidnât you instruct me not to mention Miss Webb today?â,
Violet shot Patrick a surprised look.
Patrick immediately recalled this thing and felt a bit embarrassed. âAlright, I know. Iâll take care of this matter.â
After he finished speaking, he glanced at Violet. âYou can go and have lunch nowâ
Violet was a bit hesitant and glanced at him.
Patrick raised an eyebrow. âWhatâs the matter? Donât feel like having lunch?â
Violet immediately shook her head. âNo.â
Patrick lazily raised his eyelids and looked at her. âThen go ahead and eat.â
Violet stood her ground somewhat stubbornly and raised her head. âIâm not dropping the case.â
Patrick was slightly amused. âWho asked you to drop the case? If you do, itâll also be a blow to Foreverie Jewelryâs reputation. I wonât allow that.â
Violet couldnât help but breathe a sigh of relief upon hearing this. Her eyes seemed to light up suddenly. âThank you.â
After she finished speaking, she turned around with a smile and headed back into the restaurant.
Patrick was momentarily stunned. Violetâs eyes were so bright just now that he seemed to have seen stars.
Nelson couldnât help but steal a glance at Patrick. âMr. Herseyâ¦â
Patrick snapped back to reality, glanced at Nelson, and then turned his gaze to Russell. âIf you want to save Oceanen Jewelry, follow me.â
Russell stiffened and quickly followed.
After having lunch, Violet returned to the Design Department and noticed that everyone there was quiet, not discussing the morningâs events.
She raised an eyebrow in surprise. As soon as she sat down, she saw Sophia discreetly approach her and whisper, âViolet, check Twitter. The company has issued a statement.â
Violetâs eyes widened with surprise.
She opened Twitter and saw that Foreverie Jewelry had posted a statement.
âIn response to Miss Veronicaâs attempt to commit suicide, we at Foreverie Jewelry extend our sympathy to Miss Webbâs situation. However, the jewelry industry cannot tolerate plagiarism. Foreverie Jewelry, on behalf of Miss Webb, is pursuing the plagiarism case and will not withdraw it.â
This statement was released when Patrick learned about Veronicaâs attempt to commit suicide.
At this time, there had been tens of thousands of comments below the tweet, with netizens roughly divided into two factions.
One faction argued that Foreverie Jewelryâs words were entirely reasonable. Plagiarism should never be condoned at any time, and those who do wrong
2/3
should face consequences. This was common knowledge that even the kids knew, and why did so many people fail to see the reason for this?
Another perspective posited that Foreverie Jewelryâs refusal to drop the lawsuit was driven by Violetâs intentions. According to this view, Violet was the victim, and she refused to let Veronica go easily. She was determined to see this through until Veronica faced the consequence of death.
People were emotional beings, and the majority seemed to sympathize with Veronica in the end. Moreover, it appeared that some individuals were
deliberately steering public opinion.
Before long, âViolet withdraw the caseâ became a trending topic.
People seemed to treat Violet as if she were one of the worst offenders, calling her inhumane and even animalâlike on the internet.
While Violet had mentally prepared herself for this, reading those comments left her feeling uncomfortable.
Violet briefly scrolled through Twitter but found it uninteresting, so she decided to log out.
At the same time, Veronica received a phone call from Russell. âVeronica, Iâm in front of the hospital. Come out, letâs sign the divorce agreement.â
Veronica frowned, âI tried to kill myself, and now Iâm hospitalized. Donât you know about that?â
Russell, showing clear disdain in his tone, replied, âOh? Then how did you do that? By slashing your wrist or your ankle?â
