Chapter 3
My Wife Is An All-Around Expert
Chapter 3
Patrick turned around, his gaze scanning Violet like a radar. âGive me her information.â
The assistant glanced at Violet and immediately knew her name. After all, he knew most designers who had a bit of fame in the jewelry industry.
The assistant quickly made a phone call to investigate, and in no time, Violetâs information was sent over. He handed it directly to Patrick.
Seeing her name, Patrickâs eyes flickered, and he thoughtfully pronounced her name, âViolet⦠Webbâ¦â
He emphasized the âWebbâ in her name, and Violet quickly nodded. âYeah, thatâs me!â
Patrick ignored her and stared at the photo on the information, löst in thought. Violet, a designer for Oceanen Jewelry, was the girlfriend of the CEO of Oceanen Jewelry, Russell Fraley. At the age of eighteen, she designed a piece of jewelry that sold well domestically and internationally. Unfortunately, it seemed that she hadnât produced any remarkable works in the past two years.
Was this⦠the premature end of a genius?
But among the people related to Violet, her stepsister Veronica had won numerous awards in the past two years and had just won the championship in the cityâlevel jewelry competition yesterday.
Moreover, her design style was remarkably similar to Violetâs!
Patrick instantly had a plan in mind. He had seen all kinds of d*rty tricks in this industry.
He glanced at Violet and slightly parted his thin l*ps, uttering a word. âSure.â
Violet finally breathed a sigh of relief. She was marrying Patrick not for anything. else, but to make Russell regret what he had done to her. She wanted Russell to understand that from today onwards, she, Violet, would no longer be interested in someone like him!
Because it was Patrick, they were able to use a special channel and breeze through the process, except for a playful remark from the city hall staff when they were signing the documents, commenting on how wellâmatched they were. âIâm one hundred percent sure that you will be very happy!â the staff said.
Violet blushed and felt a bit shy at the time, but Patrick simply said coldly, âI hope
so.â
Half an hour later, Violet stepped out of the city hall as Patrickâs wife. Through the glass doors of the city hall, she saw Veronica and Russell still waiting in line.
Patrick glanced at her and said expressionlessly, âGet in the car. Letâs go get something to eat.â
Violet pursed her l*ps and nodded. âOkay.â
As soon as they got in the car, Violet saw Russell holding Veronicaâs hand, his face- gloomy, and he was holding his phone as he walked out of the city hall.
Veronica was holding the marriage license in her hand. At that moment, her phone rang.
Patrick glanced at her and then shifted his gaze toward the window.
Violet opened the camera on her phone and took a picture of Veronica and Russell before answering the call and continuing to record their conversation. âHello!â
âHey, Violet, where are you?â Russellâs voice sounded quite urgent.
âIâm at the hotel. Whatâs up?â Violet calmly replied.
âWell, Violet, I just saw a media report that I was at the city hall. And they even posted a photo. The woman in the picture isnât you. Theyâre speculating that I betrayed you and came to the city hall with someone else. Itâs a joke! You wonât believe it, will you?â
Violetâs eyes flickered. She paused for a moment and asked, âSo, who is that woman? And why were you at the city hall?â
âI⦠Um, sheâs just a friend of mine. She asked me to accompany her and her boyfriend to register. I was just trying to help, but I didnât expect it to backfire like this!â
âDo I know this friend of yours?â Violetâs tone was indifferent, as if devoid of emotions.
any
âShe⦠Um, you havenât met her. I went to the same university as her boyfriend, but Iâm not close to her!â Russell was still clumsily explaining.
âOkay, I see. Iâm hanging up now.â
âWait, Violet! Since you believe me, letâs hold a press conference this afternoon to clarify everything. The current situation is having a huge impact on Oceanen Jewelry. You have no idea how those idiots online are bashing me. You have to stand by my side! Or Iâm gonna be in big trouble!â
A sarcastic smile tugged at the corner of Violetâs l*ps. Yes, she should definitely stand by her boyfriend who had betrayed her! She made an effort to speak in a calm tone of voice. âOkay, see you this afternoon.â
After hanging up the phone, Violet remained silent, her head bowed.
Patrick glanced at her from the side. âExâboyfriend?â
Violet nodded.
Patrickâs tone was like he was speaking to a subordinate. âI donât want you to have too much involvement with him after we get married.â
Violet looked up and calmly looked at Patrick. âDonât worry. I wonât, but you also
have to promise me that our marriage is a secret one. You attract too much attention, and I donât want to be in the spotlight.â
âThatâs up to you,â Patrick replied as if it was something unrelated to him.
Violet shifted her gaze away and continued to stare down in thought. She thought that with Patrickâs cold personality, he wouldnât say anything else. But unexpectedly, he suddenly spoke up. âThose designs used in Veronicaâs competition were all yours, werenât they?â
Violet looked at him in shock. âHow did you know?â
The secrecy of this matter was known only to her and those two scumbags. She hadnât told anyb*dy else!
Patrickâs tone was indifferent as he replied, âAnyone with a brain could figure it
out.â
Violet hadnât regained her composure from her shock. âReally? I thought⦠I thought no one would know it!â
Patrick didnât respond to her remark. Instead, he asked, âDo you need any help?â Violet quickly shook her head. âNo, Iâll handle it myself. But you need to give me some time. After Iâve had my revenge, I will completely cut ties with Russell Fraley. But trust me, I will never betray you.â
Patrick looked at her, his gaze slightly surprised. He hadnât expected this woman to be so strongâwilled. He paused for a moment and asked, trying to get the answer, âSince youâre not asking for my help with your revenge, what is your purpose in marrying me?â
âTo get myself out,â Violet said frankly, not even flicking a glance at Patrick.
He nodded, feeling somewhat impressed by this woman. âI donât care how youâll do it, but if you choose to marry me, you have to fulfill your duties as a wife. Iâm not just looking for a wife in name onlyâ¦
Even though his words were flirtatious, Patrickâs tone sounded as casual as if he was commenting on the weather today.
