Chapter 36
My Wife Is An All-Around Expert
Chapter 36
Hearing Benedictâs words, Violet got to know everything clearly. However, she still felt a little sad in her heart.
She said expressionlessly, âNo need for that. Everything ends here today.â
She knew well that without Benedict, there would be someone else.
Henry had plotted against her to have something on her to threaten her
with.
Patrick narrowed his eyes. He didnât expect Violet to forgive Benedict so easily.
Eleanor looked at Patrick and said with a smile, âPatrick, see. Miss Webb has forgiven Benedict. Let go of the Turner family for my sake, okay?â Patrick remained silent for a few seconds and said slowly, âIâm not doing this for your sake. Iâm doing this for Robertâs sake. I hope that the Turner family can behave themselves.â
Eleanor immediately understood what Patrick meant. Patrick was close to Robert. And she was Robertâs cousin. While Benedict was her cousin, their relationship wasnât that close.
However, Patrick still forgave Benedict for Robertâs sake.
She hurriedly nodded and asked Benedict to say something. âSay thank you to Mr. Hersey. Hurry up.â
Benedict hurriedly nodded. âThanks, Mr. Hersey, for being so generous to me. Thanks, Miss Webb, for forgiving me. I wonât dare to do this again.â
Eleanor heaved a sigh of relief. Patrick still looked angry, but the problem was solved anyway.
She looked at Patrick and said, âPatrick, are you free tonight? Benedict and I want to invite you and Miss Webb to dinner tonight.â
Patrick chased them away. âNo need. You can leave now.â
Eleanor knew that Patrick was always decisive. She looked embarrassed as she nodded. Then she took Benedict away.
Violet also wanted to leave, but Patrick said to her, âYou stay. I have something to say to you.â
Violet looked at him with surprise and didnât leave.
Eleanor pursed her l*ps when she heard this. She looked at Patrick, who was expressionless and left with reluctance.
As soon as Eleanor left, Patrick looked at Violet.
He remembered that more than one person asked him whether he had fallen in love with Violet that day. Thinking of this, he couldnât help but frown.
He stared at Violet. He wondered whether she had also thought so.
Patrickâs eyes flickered. He asked Violet calmly, âViolet, I hope you didnât misunderstand. Yes, I saved you yesterday, but all normal men would do that under such situations.â
Violet froze. What exactly did he mean?
Her expression changed silently. She nodded. âNo matter what, thanks for saving me last night, Mr. Hersey.â
Patrick raised his eyebrows. She didnât understand what he had meant. His eyes darkened. âYou work in my company, and your reputation is closely related to my companyâs reputation. But this isnât the only reason why I helped you twice. More importantly, I donât like it when others trample on my stuff.â
Violet restrained her emotions. She looked cautious and restrained. âI understand. Thank you for helping me today, Mr. Hersey.â
Patrick frowned. Why did he feel that she still didnât fully understand his meaning?
He continued, âI married you because that was an ideal choice for me then. I didnât like to be threatened by anyone with anything. Love isnât necessary in my marriage. Love is useless to me. Occasionally, I tease you. But thatâs only because you are interesting. I didnât mean anything else. Do you understand?â
If Gloria hadnât put up a front again and again just because she was his girlfriend, maybe he would have married Gloria instead of Violet.
Violet froze. Was he asking her not to fall in love with him?
Was he afraid that she would pester him because they were married?
Violet pulled her l*ps. Her heart sank.
Indeed, she was grateful to him. But she wouldnât pester him and insist on getting his heart because of this.
She didnât expect that he would warn her and ask her to behave herself so
soon.
She said seriously, âMr. Hersey, I understand what you mean. You married me because that was an ideal choice for you then. I want your help, and I need your support. I wonât dare to love you. Relax. Mr. Hersey. I will never have any feelings for you.â
Violet stood there silently. She immediately restrained her provocative and aggressive nature and appeared to be a good girl.
Patrickâs eyes flickered. He was a little uncomfortable when he heard her words.
However, he continued, âOur marriage is a deal. We both have something to gain from this marriage. So, I will set a oneâyear limit for the marriage? What do you think of that?â
Violet stood aside with a calm face. She said indifferently and distantly, âMr. Hersey, you can decide. I have no opinion on that.â
She was the one who needed his help. She didnât have any right to have any opinions about the decision he made.
Patrick was testing her attitude. And he was satisfied with the result he -got.
After that, he changed the topic as if nothing had happened. âAs for Russell⦠Do you still want to do anything else to him? This time, he chose our side and helped you. Do you still want to deal with him? If you still want to, I can help you.â
Violet was startled. He had warned her just now. But now, he was offering to help her. What did he mean?
But anyway, they were just cooperative partners. They both wanted to get something from each other, so they married. They had better keep a distance from each other.
