opened the door to the basement my stomach started growling, now all I can do is beeline for the food

on display.

“Thank Goddess, here I made some fresh muffins, some waffles and pancakes.” I almost laugh as

Sally starts rushing to shove food at me.

“Looks amazing,” I tell her with a smile as I start to load up a plate, I don’t take too much, I don’t want to

give myself a stomach ache. “Has. Sophie been up? I didn’t see her in the basement.” When Sally

doesn’t answer me I turn around to look at Selena, she’s steadfastly not looking. at me. “Selena?”

“Alright, she’s at the border talking to Eric. Fraction is there too so it’s not like she’s alone.” I can tell

from Selena’s that she doesn’t quite believe her own words, for some reason I can’t understand

Sophie. keeps running to the border to talk to Eric. The last time I saw them together was in the

clearing and she was terrified of him.

“I don’t get it, one second she’s shaking on the ground and now she can’t keep away from him.” I shake

my head as I take my plate over to the table, it’s fairly late in the morning so it’s only the three of us

here today.

I almost spit my muffin out at Selena’s absurd observation, I can’t help the choking laugh that comes

“She’s sixteen and he’s a full grown Alpha, that’s just wrong.” I put the muffin down and pick up my hot

we don’t know for sure that’s what’s going on.” Selena looks really calm considering she’s just. accused

“Yeah,” I draw the word out as I get up from the table. “I’m going out there, this is just wrong on so

many levels.” I leave my food behind suddenly not very hungry at all and run from the kitchen before

either of them can stop me.

‘Just off to find Sophie.‘ I have no doubt Selena has gone down there and grassed me up but it’s not

“What’s this?” I ask as I walk towards the group. Fraction just shrugs. his shoulders and steps back.

Sophie looks a little embarrassed to be caught out here again and Eric just looks mildly annoyed at

being interrupted.

“Just talking, Luna.” Sophie is looking down at her hands as she shakes her head causing her red hair

to swing around her head.

“We’ve talked about you coming out here, it’s not safe. Come on back to the Pack house.” I start to turn

around but after a few steps I realise Sophie is not following me, “alright. What am I missing here?” I

throw my hands up in the air and look over at Fraction, he again just shrugs his shoulders.

“She’s perfectly safe with me Eva.” Eric unfolds his massive body and stands, crosses his arms over

his chest; he looks like a towering beacon over the tiny girl still sitting on the floor.

look around the road, almost like I’m. waiting for someone to jump out and shout surprise.

near her and now she’s sneaking out to the Pack border everytime our backs are turned.” I step closer

chest and wait for him to explain.

“She’s blood, my brother’s daughter.” I look down at Sophie in

confusion, I was sure Cas and Rowan told me Sophie was born here in Everfur.

“Sophie is Everfur, your family is from Texas. Your brother died in England.” I shake my head, “you’re

“He’s not, I can smell him. I’m connected to him by blood, my wolf confirmed it.” Sophie jumps up from

the floor and looks to Eric, “he’s my Uncle and the only family I have here now.” Her voice cracks, I can

understand needing family.

“How is this possible? I thought your mother had a fated mate who died, isn’t he your father?” Eric

shakes his head with a smirk.

“My brother wasn’t one to care if you had a mate or not, apparently neither was Sophie’s mother.

Sophie is my kin, I’ll be staying with her to ensure she’s safe.” I look over at Fraction and he just

shakes his head, he’s going to be no help here, this is mine and Cas’s decision.

“Fraction stay here with them, I’ll go talk to Cas about allowing you in Pack land. I’m sorry, I assumed

the worst of you.” Eric just shrugs his shoulders as if he doesn’t care but I can see the hurt on his face.
