‘Stay with me Angel,‘ Ghost is running behind Storm and Cas keeps checking in to make sure I’m still

here. It would be annoying if I wasn’t so terrified, after me and Heath were taken Cas strengthen up

board patrols so I don’t understand how Jeremy has managed to get onto the Pack land.

‘I’m here.’ I try to keep my voice calm but even I can hear the panic. bleeding into it. Storm seems to be

leading us the most direct route back to the Pack house, the trees we are weaving around seem dark

and empty now. There are no sounds of wolves yipping and running around, I can’t seem to hear

anything over my own heart and our three sets of paws.

‘Alpha, stop.‘ Selena’s words have my blood turning cold, I feel Ghost lower herself to the floor as

Storm walks past her to get to Selena.

‘What is it?‘ They both walk a few paces to the left and start sniffing around the base of a massive oak

tree.

‘Ghost, I don’t like this.‘ I can’t keep my fear to myself anymore, it’s dark, there are strangers out here

and now I bet they can smell something or someone who doesn’t belong here.

‘What is it?‘ I ask the two of them over the Pack link, their silence is really unnerving me. I can hear the

creatures that live in the trees scuttling around and each time I hear a twig snap I feel like it’s someone

coming to get us.

‘It’s Mitch, the rogue we caught after the clearing attack.‘ Cas tells me as Storm continues to sniff

around the base of the massive Oak tree. ‘his scent is mixed with Mary.‘ I can hear the worry in his

voice, there is no reason a Pack female should be with a rogue we had locked up.

‘We need to get to her house now, make sure she’s safe.‘ Storm looks over at where Ghost has us

laying on the floor, ‘Cas, we have to. They have a pup in that house.‘ Storm huffs out a breath before

nudging Selena’s side to get her attention.

‘Let’s go,‘ he pads back over to me and nudges Ghost’s side before sliding his tongue across her white

muzzle. “Let’s go Angel, Mary should be at the Pack house with everyone else.‘ I want to argue that we

need to go to Mary’s family farm but I don’t think he will go for it. He wants us back at the Pack house

as much as I want out of these woods. He starts running again so I urge Ghost to run faster so she can

keep up with him, Storm is lightning fast which makes me think he let me win our little race earlier.

The closer we get to the Pack house the more of the Pack I smell, I think Cas might have been right in

that the Pack has been led to the Pack house. I’m paying more attention to the scents around me than

to Storm so I almost run straight into him when he stops.

‘Cas?‘ I ask him as Storm lowers himself to the floor and starts to growl.

‘Stay back Eva.‘ Cas warns as I watch a dark figure walk from behind one of the partially demolished

buildings. A growl comes from behind me, looking round I see Selena growling at a dark brown wolf

coming out of the trees. Whoever these guys are they have effectively boxed ust

at voice, “steal my woman twice, shame on you.” As he

steps closer Storm starts to growl louder, he steps back towards me as if trying to protect me from the

gun waving Jeremy. The man looks crazy, he’s normally so well presented but right now his shoes look

scuffed, his black dress pants have a huge rip in the side of the left leg. His normally white pressed

shirt is gone, in it’s place is a blood stained wife beater.

‘Stay back Eva, do not shift.‘ I’m about to argue back when Storm suddenly changes into a very naked

Cas. All I can see is his muscled back, ass and toned legs, he’s purposefully using his body to block

me from Jeremy.

“What are you doing here Jeremy?” I see Cas’s shoulders tense as a growl sounds behind us, looking

back I can see the dark brown wolf hasn’t moved and neither has Selena’s wolf.

“Don’t worry, Vince won’t attack until I tell him too.” I look between Cas’s legs to see Jeremy dangle a

little baggie of white powder in the hand not holding the gun. “It’s actually impressive what you can get

a shifter to do once you have the percentage right on each drug.” Jeremy pockets the drug and lifts the

gun to aim at Cas’s head, a loud whine fills the night and it takes me a second to realise it’s come from

Ghost.

“Lisa is gone and John is clean, there is no one else here for you to control.” Jeremy laughs at Cas,

“what’s so funny?” Cas’s hands tighten into fists at his side as yet more growling comes from behind

us.

“Not a chance.” Cas growls, “I won’t give you my mate to berate, beat

‘We can take him.‘ Ghost whispers to me as Jeremy starts shouting at Cas.

‘No, Cas said to stay here.‘ More growling comes from behind us, looking back I notice the dark brown

wolf has moved closer to us. The wind has changed direction and I can now smell that the wolf is

Vince.

“Only Vince? Where’s MItch?” Cas asks as he looks over his shoulder before shooting his eyes back to

Jeremy.
