The fact that Eva can stare daggers at me while Selena gets ready to cut into her shows how strong

she is. When I started beating Jeremy I had no idea I would be interrupted with my mate being in

labour, the second Francis and Stuart mentioned blood, it was like the world fell away and all that

mattered was Eva and our pup.

“What was that?” Eva tries to sit up but whatever Selena injected. seems to have caused her to

become immobile, “I can’t move!” Eva’s panic is evident as I grab her sweaty hand and lean down to

kiss her forehead.

“It’s just the drug Eva, keep calm. I can almost see your baby.” Selena says from behind the screen

she’s erected, I’m sure it’s to keep what she’s doing from mine and Eva’s view. Selena can’t hide her

worry from her scent though, it’s clinging to the air just like Eva’s blood and

anger.

“Go and look, make sure she’s alright.” I know Eva means the pup so I lean down and kiss her sweaty

forehead again as I let go of her hand and walk behind the screen.

The second I see Selena elbow deep in Eva’s stomach I really wish I had stayed behind the screen, I

start to wobble as my vision goes blurry. Every instinct inside of me is screaming to rip Selena apart for

hurting our mate but the rational side of me knows she’s helping.

“Almost got it.” Selena grits her teeth as she tugs hard and then she’s

cloth Cas.” I barely hear her as my eyes zero in on the small bundle in her hands, “Alpha!” I suddenly

feel really weak as I feel Storm start to howl in joy as he realises what my brain has yet to register.

“Selena, what’s wrong with him? Is the pup alright?” I want to tell Eva to stop panicking and that

everything is perfect but I can’t seem to move or even make a noise leave my mouth.

“Rowan! I need you!” Selena screams while holding the tiny bundle, “he’s fine Eva. Seeing your mate

like this can’t be easy. You have a beautiful little boy.” Three things happen at once, I smell a male

enter the room, Eva starts to cry tears of joy and then my world goes black.

‘Call yourself an Alpha!‘ I open my eyes to see myself face to face with a slate grey wolf with yellow

eyes, he’s flashing all his teeth at me as he growls fiercely. ‘Passing out at the birth of your son. You

should be ashamed.‘ I do the only thing I can, which is dropping my head to bare my neck to Storm,

he’s rightfully angry with me.

‘It was too much.‘ I tell him honestly, I don’t know if it was having Selena confirm that Eva had just

given me a son, smelling Rowan in the birthing room or the panic in Eva’s voice. It was like a sensory

overload and my body did the only thing it could at that moment.

‘You dropped like a sack of bricks.‘ Storm scoffs at me as he starts to circle me.

‘She said it was a girl, it was meant to be female.‘ I tell him, it’s the first time I’ve admitted aloud that I

was praying for the pup not to be male. I don’t even think I truly admitted it to myself.

punishment cupboard cleaned out.‘ I clench my fists as I push myself into a sitting position, ‘what? Not

good enough, should we just take him out into the forest and drown him in the stream?‘ With a roar I

lunge at Storm, I collide with his side as I start punching at his muscled stomach and hind legs.

‘You won’t hurt my son, he’s innocent. He’s mine and no one will hurt. him.‘ I scream as I try to inflict as

much hurt on my wolf as possible.

‘So, why so scared Alpha?‘ Storm shakes me off as if I’m nothing more than a mild annoyance, he sits

on his hind legs and watches me try to catch my breath. His fur is sleek and shiny as he watches me

from behind his glowing eyes.

‘What if I hurt him without meaning to?‘ I drop back on my ass and unclench my hands to see they are

drenched in blood, it’s practically dripping down my hands to pool at my feet.

“You wouldn’t even know how to hurt a pup.‘ Storm licks his lips as he watches me, ‘you don’t have it in

‘Do you think the Goddess would pick a weak wolf for me?‘ Ghost asks as she circles Storm, her eyes

are glued to him but I know she’s speaking to me.

‘No.‘ I tell her quickly as she nuzzles her face into Storm’s side, he just keeps watching me as if Ghost

is not doing anything to him.

‘You were broken Castiel and so was Eva.‘ Storm lays down so that Ghost can fully nuzzle into his

side, ‘you were both lost and without hope. Together you have given each other what you needed, what

you both craved.”

‘A family.‘ I whisper as I wipe my hands down my shirt to get rid of the blood. ‘it’s all I’ve ever wanted. A

family filled with unconditional love.‘ Ghost sits up and looks at me with her yellow eyes, she tilts her

head to the side as if she’s trying to see me at a different angle.

‘Did we ever place a condition on our love?‘ I shake my head no, Eva has never asked me for anything,

she’s never even asked me to love her. I gave it freely and unconditionally, then go and give our pup

the same love. Help him grow, he’s going to be amazing.‘ I stand up as I feel hands on my shoulders,

looking down there is nothing there but I can feel the strong hands squeezing me. ‘Castiel?‘ I look up at

Ghost to see her and Storm share a sad look.

“What?” I ask her as I feel the hands shake me more forcefully.

This will be your and Eva’s only pup, I can’t heal the damage it did to her body. The years of abuse and

neglect have taken their toll on her, give this pup your everything. Before I can answer her I feel a hard

“Is he alright?” Eva’s panicked voice has me flinging my eyes open, I’m flat on the hardwood floor and

staring up at Rowan as he looks down at me with a worried look.

“Pup?” I ask him in a low voice, his face breaks out in a wide grin as he steps back and holds a hand

out to me.

“See for yourself.” He says as I rub at my jaw where he’s clearly slapped me to wake me up, clasping

his hand I let him pull me off the floor. Looking around I see Selena is once again behind the screen

and Eva is laid back on the bed holding a bundle of fabric.

“Hey you. nice of you to come back.” Eva grins at me as tears slide. down her face. wiping my hands

down my joggers I walk towards her as she tilts the small bundle towards me.

“A son.” I whisper as his perfect little face comes into view, his eyes are closed but his head full of black

hair and tiny button nose, make it obvious he is ours. “What are we calling him Luna?” I ask her as I

crouch down beside the bed and carefully place a hand on his blanket covered chest.

“Dean.” She tells me in a quiet voice, I look up at her watery eyes to see a happy smile gracing her

face, “he was my first friend and he taught me about shifters. Really taught me, his life was cut short

before he could see what he had given me.” I try to swallow a lump in my throat as I smile at her and

nod, turning to Rowan I see him standing a respectful distance back and looking at his feet.

“Tell the Pack. Alpha Heir Dean is born, healthy and loved.” Rowan beams at me as he runs from the

room, turning back to Eva, I start combing my hand through her hair as we watch Dean start to wriggle

around.
