Chapter 2 " Present"

Avery P.O.V

“Avery, Hey girl.” I heard Ashely say.

I was walking into the school when I turned around; I saw Ashely Williams, my best friend, and my cousin Natalie Steele running toward me with big smiles on their faces. I could see them grow up into their bodies, with their long legs, blonde hair, and big chest looking like a runway model. But like me, I was still short with a big waist and small chest with acne and big glasses on my round face. But I didn’t know why they wanted to hang out with me. I was a shy nerd who didn’t stand up for herself.

I wasn’t ugly, but I wasn’t actually beautiful either. But I have heard all my life I am a beautiful young lady. But I didn’t want to go all in. So, I went back to the present where I was at school. I turned my attention back to my best friends walking towards me with beautiful smiles on their faces. They stopped in front of me by the steps going into the front door of our high school.

“Hey, girls,” I said, smiling at them. “How was your summer vacation?” I asked them with a red tint on my cheeks. “Oh, girl!” Ash said with so much excitement and joy in her voice. But she talked so loudly. So, we have an audience watching us. I wanted to die in a hole because everyone was looking at us with judgment in their eyes. I was afraid when someone stared at me—especially him. I hope I won’t meet this asshole in school this year. Maybe he would forget I was here? By the time I thought that. I heard his voice. I didn’t have to see him know he was close behind me.

“Hey slut,” I heard behind me. I spoke too soon. My shoulder pulled up, and I was shaking in my legs. I got butterflies in my stomach. I know I am in for it now.

“Hey, I am talking to you! Bitch.” I heard him growl in my ear. I felt him grab my arm. I could feel him right on my back, close to my ear. Oh, no, please not this year. I said in my mind. Just leave me alone, I wanted to tell him, but I was not brave and strong like the other she-wolfs.

“Come on,” I heard Angelstar.

“You can do it. Tell him off.”

I sighed and closed my eyes, waiting for the cruel words to come out of his kissable beautiful lips. Instead, I blushed, thinking about his lips on mine. I should not be thinking of him that way. I should be thinking about finding a mate. I have got two weeks until my eighteenth birthday in a couple of days. Elijah’s birthday was in three days, and he would be nineteen.

“Tell, him off, Avery. Don’t let him treat you like that?” I heard my wolf Angelstar growl.

“But I can’t do that.”

“He is my Alpha, remembers?”

“Besides, he hurt me and killed me. I don’t want him angry at me.”

“He is going to be Alpha, Angelstar. I am not anything but a smart, ugly nerd, loser.”

“Remember what he said? So now I got new name-calling; he liked to call me.”

“I am the Slut and Bitch.” I used my hands for my words to Angelstar, my wolf. She rolled her wolf eyes at me. “Well, next time I am out in the woods when I see him.”

She said with a growl, and she showed me her sharp teeth. Like she was going to bite him. I could not help it, and I started giggling. I saw my friends give me weird expressions on their faces like I was crazy.

“Hey, Elijah! Leave her alone. She didn’t do anything to you?” Ashely said with her hands on her hips, staring at him with a heat and fire expression in her eyes.

“Stay out of it!” he said with a growl. She rolled her eyes at him. Then I heard a growl. I saw someone in front of us. He had his hand around Ashely’s neck.

“You will not disrespect your Alpha! You hear me, sweetheart.” I saw her face-to-face with Jayson Wood and her cousin. She didn’t say anything but stare into his dark blue eyes. I could see his wolf was ready to come out. Oh, no, I thought.

“What? What are you going to do about Jayson? Are you going to beat me and punish me? Or are you going to be a pussy and get your buddies here to punish me and beat me up? So, your sissy ass can enjoy the show?” Ashely said with a grin on her face. He didn’t let go of her neck, but he put her face closer to his. “Listen here, sweet Cake.”

“I don’t need my buddies to do a man’s job. Secondly, I don’t beat up women. If I do it. It’s their asses I am slapping when I am fucking them from behind. Lastly, the only pussy I do is eat it and fuck it.” He said with his mouth on hers and a cocky grin on his face. It was quiet because we were all shocked by what was going on here with Ashely and Jayson Woods.

They were so close, and you could feel the tension surrounding them. You couldn’t even cut a knife and throw it away. But, oh, God, Ashely, I couldn’t believe how brave she was to say that to one of the most popular and meanest guys who were our bullies. “Ashely,” I said with my eyes.

“Stop it. Please, you going to make it worse!” I was trying to tell her. To keep her mouth shut and walk away. But at the time I was going to grab her and Natalie. Someone else had other ideas. That was when I was picked up off my feet and over someone’s shoulders. All I saw was his hardback and his round ass in my face. I knew who it was, and he did it every year for me.

“Please let me down!” I had tears in my eyes and a frightened expression on my face. Oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you.

Yep, you guessed it. I am up onto the flagpole.

I am scared of heights. That’s when I started yelling.

I started yelling down at the assholes.

“Please, Woods! I am so sorry for whatever I did to you that made you hate me.” I told him, staring down at him, and the others surrounded him, laughing at me. On the other hand, I saw Ashely in Jayson’s hold and Natalie in Eli Wallace’s hold. They were trying to get to me. But they couldn’t get out of the most muscular guys in our school. Jayson is beta and Eli is the first command.

Ashely P.O.V.

I was trying to wiggle and trying to get out of Jayson’s grip.

“Let me go, you dick!” I yelled at him.

“Oh, you keep it up, sweet thing. So, I am going to show you what a dick is?” He said with a glare in his eyes and a smirk on his face. “Jayson, your fucking disgusting asshole,” I said, moving my face away from his mouth.

“I won’t touch you with my golden pussy, you idiot!” I told him with a smirk on my face.

“Oh, yeah! Let’s find out.” He said in my ear with a growl. He didn’t whisper either. He said it loud enough so people could hear him. I was shocked, and I was tongue-tied. But why, I thought he hated me? Now, here he was, flirting with me. Then I looked back at his handsome- I mean ugly, face. That was a close one, Ashely. So, I told myself when I heard my wolf Envy laughing at me in the back of my mind.

“Oh, shut up, Envy,” I told her. She rolled her pretty eyes at me.

Envy was beautiful and with red fur and pretty green hazel eyes. She came back into my mind, and she had disappeared into her own world. Well, Lucky her.

I rolled my eyes at her. So, here I was in the tight, firm grip of this big guy. I hated him, and I used to have a crush on him. Back in the day, we were in middle school. Now, all I saw was hate for him in my eyes and my heart; it was another story.

Elijah P.O.V.

“Come on, Princess. Tell me what I want to hear.” I said with my hands over my mouth, yelling up at her. I knew I shouldn’t be like this. My father warned me to stop all these childish games and be a good role model and a Great leader, focusing on being a Great Alpha.

So, I needed to stop all this teasing and pick on her, my quiet, shy wallflower. I looked up at the flagpole and, I saw she was wearing a dress. Oh, wow, the quiet Wallflower, was wearing something normal and not baggy for a change. She didn’t look half bad. I thought. Then I heard all the males and females talking about her.

The male population was talking about how good her legs looked good. I found myself growling at that. How dare they stare at her like that? What? Why did I say that? There was no way I was attracted to her. I told myself. I heard my wolf Axe chuckle and spoke.

“Yeah, right, keep telling yourself that.” I heard him say. I rolled my eyes at him and went back to reality, and I saw Avery start to lose her grip on her skirt. They were going to Yep, I knew it. They fell. They fell right at my feet. I saw her with her eyes wide open and her face all red. I heard them laughing. Hahaha- I heard everyone laughing and whistling at her.

“Look at that! Sexy undies,” a guy said behind me. I wouldn’t say I liked that.

“Yeah, sweet thing, you can climb my pole anytime.” Another guy said to her.

“You Slut!” I heard a girl say to her. I saw Avery trying to hide her bottom half. But no luck. I started to get angry and pissed off at what they were doing to her and saying. I wasn’t happy they kept saying more, awful and disgusting words. The guys did more than the girls. The girl’s other hand was cruel and mean, saying terrible words: everything but a white woman. I closed my eyes and started shaking; I knew my wolf would come out if I didn’t calm down. I opened my eyes and shouted out.

“HEY!”

There were silences from them.
