Chapter 33
Alpha Of Aberdeen
My body falls to the ground, causing me to fall on all fours as each of my bones break. I look
around frantically, searching the faces to find Malachi's wolf staring at me. I glance down to see
light brown paws for my hands and Malachi walks to me, slowly looking into my eyes. âLuna, are
you okay?â Malachi says. I jump back, turning my head side to side. âHow did you say that?" I
question curiously then realize I just talked to him.
âWe are mates. We can mind-link. That's how wolves communicate in wolf form and we can do it in
human form too,â He explains, walking to me and rubbing his snout into my neck. I nudge him with
my forehead and hear Paisley starting to cry. I turn my head to see her struggling in Cypress's arms.
I walk to her, and Cypress kneels to let me see her. To my surprise, she grabs my snout with her little
hand. I thought she would be scared, but once Paisley looks into my eyes, she coos. âshe knows it's
meâ I think happily, nudging her hand and giving it a lick. I look to Cypress. "It's okay, Chloe. I have
her," he says, giving me a reassuring smile. "You make a beautiful wolf by the way," He mutters
before turning to take Paisley inside.
I look in the window of the house and see my new reflection. My wolf has light brown fur, and my
eyes are almost lime green. As I look at myself, Malachi's wolf comes into view behind me from the
window. I turn around to face him. âThis is amazing. I feel full of energy, and I'm so happy Paisley
isn't scared of me. I guess I can't call you wolfman anymore.â I say, full of excitement. Malachi's wolf
almost looks like it's laughing. I tilt my head to the side, like dogs do when they are confused, and
give him a questioning look. âYour wolf is gorgeous. My wolf likes her a lot,â Malachi says, staring at
me. âI can't feel my wolf yet, so I don't know how she feels about you,â I say, wishing I could laugh.
âEven in your wolf form, you're still making jokes I seeâ He says as his wolf shakes his head.
I start to walk into the forest where I hear Malachi behind me. âThis hearing is amazing,â I tell him,
turning back to face him. Malachi nudges me, and I cuddle under his chin pressing my wolf's head
into his chest. âLet's go for a run through the forest,â Malachi suggests taking a step forward.
"Okay," I say, taking off in a run. "Let's play tag,â I suggest, running ahead of him. Malachi chases
after me. He is right on my heels when I take a sharp right, jumping over a small creek. I can hear
the stream so clearly. I jump up onto a large rock to check my surroundings for Malachi. I look down
to see a shadow moving in the tree line and my ears perk up at the sound of a twig breaking to the
left of me.
I jump down from the rock, rushing for the middle of the forest, then I jump over a tree limb. As I'm
in mid-air I hear âHello Chloe." I crash land, tumbling several times until I come to a stop. I get to my
feet, looking around to find who could have said that. âChloe, do not be afraid; it is me, your wolf.
We finally meetâ the voice explains. I stand in the middle of the forest stunned. I feel crazy like those
people in parks talking to themselves and I wonder if it's okay to answer myself.
I decide to hell with it and give it my best shot. 'l can talk to you anytime I'm in my wolf form?" I ask
and hear my wolf chuckle. 'I will always be present, but in the far distance of your mind. When you
need me, I will come forth anytime you call upon me or if i feel that it is necessary to speakâ she
further explains. I get pulled out of my conversation by the sound of the crunching of leaves. I turn
toward the noise and notice I can see clearly in the dark as if I'm wearing night vision goggles. "He's
close. If you don't want to be caught, you better runâ my wolf insists. I can feel her own excitement
for the chase, along with my own.
I dart away from the noise, running deeper into the forest until I find myself close to the ocean. I
emerge from the woods to a clearing that overlooks the sea from a cliff. I stand at the edge, taking
in the scent of salt in the air. "Malachi is hereâ my wolf warns, so I turn around to see Malachi
standing at the clearing with his eyes fixed on me. "So, you thought you could get away from me?"
He asks, slowly stalking toward me.
When he is only a few feet away; I use the force of my back legs, launching myself over his head and
running into the woods again. âThat was a nice one, Chloe. You're going to make the perfect Luna.
The Moon Goddess chose perfectly," my wolf praises me, and I feel proud that I outsmarted the
Alpha. I keep running when I come to a large opening in the woods. It's a cave, and I walk in, slowly
checking the surroundings to make sure there are no bears, even though they wouldn't be much of
a threat to me now.
After checking the entire cave, I find it's all clear, so I lay down and face the entrance with my head
resting on my front paws. I continue to watch the opening waiting for Malachi to show. I sniff the air
and smell his scent is close by, then in seconds his wolf appears with his eyes glowing yellow in the
dark. "Luna?" Malachi says with a low growl, planting his front paws inches away from my face. "Oh,
you caught me almighty, Alpha," I tease. "I knew you would be fun in your wolf form. Did your wolf
come out?" Malachi asks. "Yes, she did. She is as feisty as me. I think we are a perfect match,â I tell
him happily, getting to my feet. "Let's head back," Malachi suggests. "The last one to the packhouse
has to cook breakfast for a week," I say as I run out of the cave, getting a head start.
