The Alpha King’s Hated Slave Chapter 138
The Alpha King's Hated Slave
âNo,â she shook her head adamantly, âNo, please⦠Heâll have me killed! You know this! Heâll punish meâ¦! Why are you so excited about telling him, madam Baski? Do you want him to order my execution!?â
Baski paused, deep in thoughts. She understands where Danika is coming from, but Danika doesnât know the condition of the king. She doesnât know that the king was thought sterile and she canât tell her about it.
The king is a very private person and this is not a secret a person just reveals. Even Vetta doesnât know about it.
âDanika, my dear, he might be very happy about it. Youâll never know unless you tryâ¦â She informed uncertainly.
âMight?â Danika whispered, âI should walk up to him and risk my life for âmightâ? I canât do that, Baski. Iâm not strong enoughâ¦â
âBut, pregnancy is not something a woman hides, Danika! Sooner or later, heâll find out about it. Your pregnancy especially shouldnât be hidden because a lot of care should be taken. A whole lot of care!â Baski reasoned.
âI canât⦠No, he canât find outâ¦!â Danika was remembering when she was a child, sheâd heard her father sentence two slaves to death for getting pregnant with his child.
No matter how much those slaves pleaded that theyâve taken Body Flushers, he rather had been adamant in sentencing them to death by beheading.
âNo way, Iâll never!â She reinstated more firmly, her hands going around her belly protectively.
âButââ
âIf you tell him Iâll run straight to the nearest bush and chew on Alka.â She vowed heatedly.
Baskiâs mouth hung open in shock. âThatâs the most poisonous herb ever!â
âMy thoughts exactly.â
Baski bit her lips helplessly. The firm set of her jaw shows that sheâs very stubborn about it. That infamous stubbornness most brave princesses inherited.
She doesnât have what it takes to tell the king about something like this, because even she, doesnât know what his reactions will be.
But still, keeping him in the dark is very dangerous. âIf he doesnât find out, how does he know that he shouldnât be intimate with you?â
âHuh?â Danika doesnât understand that part.
âYour pregnancy is in a very vulnerable stage, Danika. Coupled with what youâve already been through, the king shouldnât be intimate with you for more weeks to come. And even after those weeks, he would have to be extremely gentle with you when you both are in intimacy.â She paused, for her to digest that part.
Danikaâs cheeks heated but it didnât stop her from pointing something out. âThe king is not g-gentle when itâ¦uhmâ¦when heâ¦â
Baski nodded, âThe king is not a gentle man, you know this much more than I do. Thatâs the sole reason he should have this knowledge or else, youâll be killing that baby and endangering your own life whenever you go to bed with him.â
âOhâ¦â Headache began pounding at her head. Danika palmed her head in indecision, shaking her head miserably. âYou know I canât deny himâ¦â
âI know. Thatâs why I worry for the future when he will summon you to his bed.â
Minutes passed before she called, âBaski?â
Baski came closer and patted her head in a motherly way. âMy dear?â
âDo you have hundred percent certainty that he wouldnât kill me if he finds out?â She mumbled.
Baski opened her mouth. Closed it. Opened it again.
At last, she snapped it closed because she truly doesnât know the answer to that. The king is the most unpredictable man sheâd ever known and great chances areâ¦
He might not believe that the child is his. He might never believe.
Danika put Baskiâs thoughts into words. âYou, Baski, found it hard to believe that Iâm pregnant for the king, for reasons I donât know. And what about the king? Will he just sit down and take the news that Iâm pregnant for him at mouth-value? Without disbelieving it or questioning it?â
She glanced up at Baski, âYou gave me a chance to explain and swear, but the king wouldnât give me that chance if he doesnât believe me. Iâll pay a dire priceâ
Baski knows that sheâs right too. There are just too many things at stake here. She wants nothing more than to let the king know that heâs not as sterile as everyone thought, but at the same time, she doesnât want to risk Danika and her babyâs life for it too.
âIâm so worried, Mama, because Iâm still not sure if the Prince will stay.â Remetaâs word filled her ears.
The reminder made Baski shiver. âYou know what? Weâll take it one step at a time. Weâll keep it a secret for now, while still looking for a way to break it to him without putting your life in danger. Pregnancy is not something that can be hidden for long, Danika. Very soon, youâll be running out of time.â
Danika drew her knees up and hugged it tight to her chest, she began to rocking herself unable to stop worrying.

It was very late at night when King Lucien finished the last petition he had been writing and rolled the parchment closed.
He held it closed with a band and kept it beside him where the other scrolls are.
He knows he can no longer put it off. His duty.
Itâs long overdue.
âWho is there?â He called as calmly as ever. He got up from his chair and lifted the scrolls from the desk.
The door opened and Zariel entered his chambers. âYour Highness!?â
He took the scrolls to the inner bedroom and arranged them on the library where it will be easier for him to extract them in the morning.
He came back to his bedroom and walked back to his desk in those steady regal strides of his, that practically screams power and authority.
His eyes found Zariel and he stated, âTell Princess Karama, I summon her.â
