The Alpha King’s Hated Slave Chapter 179
The Alpha King's Hated Slave
Baski walked into the small entrance of the dungeon. She stopped when she saw Danika lying down on the cold ground several feet away for her.
She turned to Dargak whoâs stood behind her, âOpen this cell for me, please.â
âYou know the King did not instruct it. It will get me into a huge trouble.â The warrior answered gently.
Baski knows all that, but she was desperate. The King hasnât gotten out of his bedroom since he walked into it in the morning. The sun is down now, itâs late evening.
âI wonât put you in trouble, Dargak. I will take full responsibility being caught inside her cell. But you have to let me in, please. Itâs cold in there and she is barely dressed.â She pleaded.
The warrior took in the dress she has in her hand. Baski did well to hide the bread sheâd gotten from the kitchen inside the big petticoat, where it wouldnât be seen.
Dargak still hesitated after the eye inspection.
He was wary to incure the Kingâs wrath. Everyone is, including Baski. No one wants the King focused on them with mood heâs in now.
âPlease, Dargak. That woman is pregnant, and she has already lost her baby. The least we can do is to cloth her up so she doesnât catch a cold. Your young wife is six months along⦠Iâm sure you will understand this. Please.â She begged.
He signed in resignation and walked ahead of her. The sound of lock opening filled the air. He turned back to her, âI will only give you a short moment with her.â
âThatâs all I ask for. Thank you so much, Dargak.â She hurried past him and entered into the cell.
It reminded her vividly of being held captive in those cold hard cells in Mombana, her steps faltered as the age-old fear filled her.
She forced herself to fight the fear that spread through her mind. You are free now. You are no longer in captivity. You and Remeta are free again.
She repeated several times in her mind until she could breath freely again. Relieved, the walked farther into the cell, observing that Danika hasnât moved an inch since she came here.
âDanika?â Baski called softly, laying the petticoat aside. She lowered herself behind Danika and touched her back tentatively.
She didnât respond. But Baski knows that sheâs not asleep.
Baskiâs eyes widened when she saw Danikaâs lower body. The b***d that made it out of her body has dried around her thighs, and she was still dropping new ones.
But she wasnât bleeding as heavily as she was supposed to. Does it mean that the child is still in herâ¦?
âOh, Danika. I think you might still pregnant even after the collar-shockâ¦!â Tears prickled Baskiâs eyes, âYour baby might still be hanging in there all dayâ¦!â
âIt d-does not matterâ¦â Danikaâs voice came out hoarsely, âWe are still going to die on the fourth day anywayâ¦â
âBy the Gods! Your childâ¦!â Baski got up and hurried out of the dungeon. She rushed to her bedroom and lifted her herbs-bag to her shoulders.
She picked out fresh towels, a bowl of fresh water, the new herb-roots she collected the day before. Then, she turned and ran back to the dungeon.
Danika hasnât moved an inch from the ground she laid. Baski walked closer to her, âYour child is a strong fighter, Danika. I gave upâ¦knowing how bad the collar-shock is, but this baby might still be in there. Itâs been hours, you should have lost so much b***d but look at youâ¦â Her voice filled with awe.
âIt doesnât matter, Baskiâ¦â
âIt does! Oh, have a little faith, Danika.â Baski sat down and pushed Danika until she rolled around facing her.
Danikaâs eyes was red and swollen, her face like a person whoâs been crying for long. âIt has nothing to doâ¦with f-faith, Baski. You saw the King, right?â
âI saw him. How couldnât I? He shattered before my very eyes.â
Danikaâs eyes slid tightly shut, as if the knowledge hurts like hell. Maybe it does.
Silence descended as Baski mixed a little herb inside the water. She raised Danikaâs underclothes up, baring her body to her. Then, she began cleaning her up.
âDo you know the only thought that kept going through my head today?â Baski began as she rubbed the towel down Danikaâs inner thighs.
Danika remained silent, her eyes still tightly closed together.
âThat very day I asked about your pregnancy. That very day you cleared my doubts about this babyâ¦even before I was able to understand my own daughterâs words. I remember accusing you of having another lover.â
âI remember that too.â Danikaâs voice was laced with bitterness.
âYou looked me in the eyes and told me how degrading it is for you to take on another lover when you belong to the King. I saw the passion in your eyes. The insult you felt because I would ask something like that. The intensity. I saw the Royal b***d in y-you.â Baskiâs voice cracked in the end.
Tears slipped from behind Danikaâs closed eyes down to the ground.
âWhat happened, Danika? What went wrong?â Baski asked at last, her eyes filled with sadness as fresh b***d dropped out from Danikaâs body.
âI donât have any idea what to say to you, Baski.â Danika whispered miserably, âThe truth is so unbelievable. So far-fetchedâ¦â
âTry me. Try and talk to me, Danika. I want to understand⦠I want to understand.â
Danikaâs heart was so heavy, the weight of it battled the pains from other parts of her body. She will be executed in four days. She has nothing to loose.
âI went to the backyard to take my clothes, Karandy dragged me from behind with a knife pressing at my side. He manhandled me to the storeroom and tried to r-rape me. I fought him and he drugged me.â she sniffled jerkily, âI donât remember anything else from there. All I know is that I woke to see you and the King standing over me, with Karandyâs head separated from his body.â
Baski took a huge breath of relieve. Her heart lightening at her words. âI knew it! I just knew it, that you could have never cheated on the King like that. You could have never treated him like that!â
Her eyes opened, she leaned up and looked at Baski with shock in her eyes, âYou believe meâ¦?â
âOf course, I do. I never really doubted you. I just needed an explanation, and now I got one. I feel very relieved!â
Tears of gratitude and relief slipped from Danikaâs eyes. She lowered her head again and closed her eyes. âThank you for believing in me.â
