The Alpha King’s Hated Slave Chapter 199
The Alpha King's Hated Slave
The King was seated on his chair at the Consultation room when the door opened and Baski led two nervous kids through the door.
A teen girl and a small boy, their fingers clutching at each other as they pushed forward to stand before the King.
âMy king, you sent for usâ¦â Remeta forced herself to say. She was worried.
What if they said something they werenât supposed to say, Yesterday?
âDo you have any idea what happened, yesterday?â The King g*****d at last, âDo you have any recollection?â
They shook their head at the same time. Corna moved closer to Remeta, nervous and scared.
âI thought so too.â King Lucien was not surprised that they did not remember.
Yesterday, they were able to look him in the eyes, stand boldly and say everything they needed to say to him. Today, they are just two children scared to stand in front of their King.
âI want to thank you both, for yesterday. You might have no knowledge of what you did but I will never forget it.â He said so gently.
Remeta let out a breath she didnâtât know she was holding. They must have said really good things, âThank you, Your Highness. Weââ
The door opened and Dargak stuck his head inside the room. âIâm really sorry to disturb, Your Majesty, but thereâs a couple at the door seekingââ
The door opened wider and two young couples rushed in. A tall dark-skinned man with long dark hair, and a small wide-eyed heavily pregnant woman. She rushed forward and knelt before the King.
âIâm so sorry for barging in on you, Your Highness, it was not my intention to cause any disrespect!â She cried out, âPlease, forgive my son for his wrongdoings. I heard he stormed into your Chambers and invaded your privacy. Please, forgive my boy, please!â
âYour son did nothing wrong, you have nothing to apologize for.â The King declared, much to the womanâs surprise. âActually, I was thanking your son for what he did. He did a lot.â
Haydaraâs worries dissolved at his calm words. She bowed her head, âOhâ¦thank you so much, My King.â
âGet up from the floor.â He ordered the pregnant woman.
That seemed to be all her husband has been eagerly waiting for because he looked relieved to hear the command. He walked to his wife and helped Haydara stand up.
King Lucien watched the couple. A few days ago, the sight of a pregnant woman was a painful one for him, he prefers not to gaze upon them at all if he can help it because the sight always reminds him of what he cannot have. What he thought he cannot have.
But now, he watched the woman intensely. âWhat is the name of your son?â
âCorna, My King.â She answered.
âSince when has he been a seer?â
The woman glanced at her husband, and back to the King. âS-Since he began speaking, Your Highness.â
It did not get past him the status of the family in the society, from their cheap, plain but neat garments. It also did not get past him the love and care the couple feels for each other.
âWhat do you do?â He directed the question to the boyâs father.
Gunther shifted uncomfortably, meeting his wifeâs worried gaze. âA trash collector, Your Highness. I work downtown, from the market to the Dega hills.â
The King turned to Dargak and nodded. The guard rushed out of the room, only to return with a small wrapped bag of coins.
King Lucien took it from him and threw it towards the family. âThis is my reward to your family. I am grateful to you all.â
They began thanking him so wholeheartedly. Haydara hugged her son to herself and cried joyfully as she thanked the King over and over again. Her husband was as happy as she is. They couldnât thank the King enough.
He was not done. âCan you grow crops?â
âYes, Your Highness! I do not have a land that is why I am not a farmer.â
âNow, you have one. Dargak will take you to a farmland at the back of the palace. I am giving it to you and your family. It is small but it is a fertile land. I give it to you.â He stated.
Gunther teared up then, his face flushed with so much gratitude, it was refreshing to the King. As the family thanked him over and over again, the King felt a little better.
Helping this family is the best way he can reward them for what their son did for him. They have no idea the gravity of their sonâs help in his life.
A few minutes later, the couple and their son happily followed Dargak out of the room, leaving Remeta and Baski alone with the King.
King Lucien watched the couple. A few days ago, the sight of a pregnant woman was a painful one for him, he prefers not to gaze upon them at all if he can help it because the sight always reminds him of what he cannot have. What he thought he cannot have.
Finally, he got up from his chair and walked to Remeta whose face was filled with so much joy on behalf of Corna. He lowered himself from the waist to become the same height as the young girl whose wide happy eyes zeroed in on him.
âI watched you grow from a newborn to a toddlerâ¦â His hand caressed her auburn mass, ââ¦then, to a lass. I watched you become the young girl you are today, and I have to say that I am so proud of you, Remeta. You are like the sister I used to haveâ¦the sister I lost.â
Remetaâs eyes watered as she listened attentively to him.
âYou saved my life when you were born, sixteen years ago. Your birth made it possible for your motherâs outrageous doings sixteen years ago, to keep me alive work. I am proud of you today, Remeta.â He finished.
She flung herself to him, wrapping her arms around his neck. He must have seen the move coming because he caught her the instant she threw herself on him. He held the girl as she cried softâ¦as she clung to him.
âThank you so much, Your Highness.â She was the happiest girl on earth, hearing the King say thatâ¦feeling his sincerely.
Remeta felt like she was soaring the sky. It was the greatest gift of all.
Her eyes found her mother who was standing beside the door. Baski had tears in her eyesâ¦and a smile on her lips.
âIf you ever need anything at all, do not hesitate to come to me. Do you hear me?â He asked when she finally untangled herself from him.
Remeta nodded her head vigorously. âYes, Your Highness.â
âYou can go nowâ¦â He said so gently.
She nodded again and skidded out of the room. Her happiness was so blatant and contagious, the King would have smiled if he was a smiling man.
Baski stepped forward then, and bowed to him. âThank you so much for this, My King. I do not think you have any idea what you did for my daughter right nowâ¦â she wiped her tears, still smiling, âThank you so much.â
She turned to follow behind her daughter, but the King called her back.
âWait, Baski.â
