The Alpha King’s Hated Slave Chapter 298
The Alpha King's Hated Slave
In the early evening, Gedoni Raskin stood inside her living room with his daughter plastered to his body, his broad shoulder cushioning her head, her small arms wrapped around him.
âWhy are you sick, Pumpkin? Donât be sick, you know Papa doesnât like that.â He said, tenderly.
âI know, Papa. You get sad when we get sick.â Merrily mumbled against his shoulder, her eyes closed.
âYeah. Papa loves you two so much, he gets sad when youâre not happy.â
âI am happy, Papa. Miss Ana gave me food and bitter herbs and sang to me. I donât feel so bad anymore.â
âOh, guess we have Miss Ana to thank for that,â his eyes found her across the living room and held.
âYes, Papa. Miss Ana likes me, and I like Miss Ana. Miss Ana likes Aiden too and you too.â
His brows arched, âAnd me, huh?â
Anarievetaâs hands tightened on her tunic. She averted her eyes.
âYes. Miss Ana said so.â
Just then, Mrs. Oraine, the Raskinâs housekeeper walked through the house. She strode towards Gedony and took Merrily from him, âTime to go home and rest your little head, angel.â
ââ¦âKay, Mrs. Oraine.â She clung to the woman.
âCall the medicine man. Have him take a look at her, will you?â Gedony directed towards the older woman.
âWill do, My Lord.â With Merrily secured in her arms, the older woman walked out of the house leaving Anarieveta alone with Gedony Raskin.
Silence descended. Having avoided any private moments alone with the man for the past two years, Anarieveta was uncomfortable.
âFinally, I get you alone.â His deep voice rumbled, his eyes watching her calculatingly. Leaning against the wall, his presence dominated the living room, suddenly making her spacious compartment look so small.
âI have no idea what youâre talking about.â She lied.
âReally now?â Pushing away from the wall, he started towards her, âFor the past two years, Iâve been trying to have a proper talk with you but all I get is a few words from you in a public area, before getting redirected to speak with that gray-haired old dunk.â
âMr. Odin is my assistant and he does a pretty good job at handling the parents, Mr. Raskin.â
âYou look beautiful.â
âYou flatter me so well, Mr Raskin.â
âYou know I do not flatter, Anarieveta. Right from the time you were just a lass, you were always so beautiful. So bright⦠You lightened everywhere you walked in.â
âThat was a long time ago.â Her world went bleak afterward. There is no point thinking about it all,
âOnce upon a time, you addressed me as your Master.â He was close to her now. And he hasnât stopped moving.
âI belonged to your family. But, your father sold me to the Royal family, so, youâre no longer my master.â She responded politely, doing her best not to notice the way he was walking close to her.
âYouâre not a slave anymore, instead, youâre the owner of the most sort-after school in Kingdom Avalon. Youâre not only free but a successful woman. Iâm so glad for you.â
âI am glad for myself too, Mr. Raskin.â Anarieveta couldnât sit still anymore, so she rose from the chair, but she didnât step away from him. Canât give him the impression that sheâs running from him, even when she wants to do just that.
He circled her. Slowly. Steadily. Like a predator. âI never liked it when you called me Master, I donât like it now you call me, Mr. Raskin.â His breath fanned her neck, he whispered to her ear, âYou called me, Gedony. Once.â
Her breath hitched.
âYou rememberâ¦right?â
âThat was a long time ago.â She whispered then, âA moment of madness.â
He paused, âYou were right. I should never have given in. I wanted you too much, you were barely a woman. I carried the guilt for years.â
âNo, donât. I donât regret it. Not then, not today.â She turned and faced him. For the first time, she allowed herself to really look at him, âYour father was going to give me to the Royal Family. You always protected me in your household but in the Palaceâ¦I knew it was only a matter of time before the guardsâ¦â pausing, she cleared her throat, ââ¦start taking advantage of me. I needed that good memory. Needed someone I c-cared for, to be my first.â
âYou didnât only care for me then, you loved me,â he said gruffly.
âYes.â Thereâs no point denying it.
âWhen my household came back from vacation and heard about the attack to our Kingdom by King Cone, I was a mess. I couldnât stop thinking about you⦠What has happened to you?⦠What is happening to you?â
âThat is all in the past. Please, I donât want to think of it.â She whispered truthfully.
He paused.
Gave it a thought.
Nodded.
âYouâre right. So, letâs talk about the present.â His arms wrapped around her back, successfully caging her in his arms so she wouldnât escape, âWhy have you been avoiding me?â
