The Alpha King’s Hated Slave Chapter 90
The Alpha King's Hated Slave
âWhat do you thinkâ¦!? Oh, what do you think, my princessâ¦.!?â Sally cried excitedly as she unwrapped the dress in front of her.
Danika was dumbfounded at the beauty of the dress. The plain slave wear Sally went out of the house with, wasnât so plain anymore.
Their was silk sewn beneath it and laces outlines the upper part of the red wear. âIt is so beautiful, Sally!â
âI know, right!?â A huge smile was on Sallyâs face as she watched the dress too. Then, the smile fell. âI know itâs nothing compared to the dresses you are used to thoughâ¦â
âDonât go there, Sally. Thatâs the past, this is the present.â she took the dress from her, âThis is the best dress Iâve had presently, I wonât trade it for anything.â
The huge smile was back again on Sallyâs face. âReally? You really like it?â
Danika closed the distance between them and hugged her closely. âYes, I love it. Thank you so much.â
âYouâre welcome. Isnât the day looking so bright, my princess?â She beamed.
âIt is, and the only person brightening up the day is you, My Sally.â
Sally pulled back then, and stared at her hair in concentration. âYour hair is all messed up. Iâll get it into a beautiful braid just like when we were in Mombana. We might not have the expensive pins and needles, but I can still get it looking so beautiful with what we have.â
Danika smiled in gratitude and started towards the bathroom. Sally watched the way she walked so gingerly, and bit her lips in worry.
âWhat is it?â Danika asked when she caught the look.
âYour walk⦠Are you hurt, my princess? The kingâ¦did he hurt you?â She asked in concern, dreading the answer.
Her assessments reminded Danika about her sore muscles she never really forgot. A flush spread through her face and she shook her head at Sally, âNo, he didnât. At least not in the way you think.â
She let out a huge sigh of relief. âThank heavens. I thought he must have knelt you down all night, or even whipped you because your father is dead and itâs your fault that the poisoned arrow traps caught him.â
Danika shuddered at that. She canât even begin to imagine what would have become of her if he had punished her for that. âNo, he didnât.â
âHave you seen Madam Baski?â
âHave you seen Madam Baski?â
âYes. I saw her and Remeta when you went into town with the dress. She has given me herbs and I got to play with Remeta. Sheâs doing so much better.â
âYes, she is. Iâm so glad about that, my princess. The ghosted one? No one will call her that mean name again. I hope youâve applied the herbs? You canât walk this way to the evening walk.â She added with a purse of her lips.
Danika let out a soft laughter at the look of seriousness on Sallyâs face. She has really taken it upon her to make sure she has a good evening.
âYes, Iâve applied the herbs, Sally.â Her cheeks reddened the more when she remembered the way Baski took one look at her and her brows had shot up.
âBut, he is sick. How did this happen?â Baski asked with just one look at her.
âIâ¦ermâ¦weâ¦â sheâd swallowed tightly, âheâd ordered it.â sheâd said at last.
A smile had crossed Baskiâs face before she wiped it clean and began attending to her. âIâm happy to know that heâs doing better. I will go in later in the day to see him.â Sheâd said.
Now, she reassured Sally that sheâll be fine but she does need a little sleepâ¦
âYou can sleep all you want, my princess. I have your back right here.â Sally is determined to make sure that no one would would wake her up too.
Danika smiled at her in gratitude. âWhat would I have ever done without you, Sally?â
She waved her off with a smile. âYou could have done so much and more. But Iâm not letting you go. I stick like glue.â

The king was in the library in the inner room, reading a book in concentration when Vetta announced her arrival.
âWhere have you been all day?â He asked without raising his head from the book.
She was standing just outside the library, she bowed her head. âI went into town to shop for new laces.â
âYou didnât take the carriage. No maids or servants.â He added.
Her heart skipped. âI didnât, my king. I needed a moment alone, and I was just going into town, so I didnât bother to take them with me.â
He finally raised his head and stared at her.âNowhere is safe, Vetta. You have to be careful wherever youâre going. Take a few guards with you and the carriage too.â
Her heart fluttered at his obvious concern for her, even though his face doesnât look it. âI will keep that in mind, my king.â
âI have been looking for you.â
That gave her mixed feelings. Why would he be looking for her? Is it because he wants her company? Or because of something else?
âI am sorry, my king.â She bowed her head.
âYou can come in.â He turned his attention back to his book.
She entered and walked towards him. âHow is your health, my king? I was too worried last night, I couldnât sleep.â
âI am fine. The wound is healing.â
She sighed softly, âSo, even in death, King Cone still torments us.â
He stiffened at the mention of his name. He said nothing.
Vetta pushed on, âMy king, donât you think your slave should be whipped for what happened? She should pay for the pain her father caused you.â
âShe is already paying for that, she is my slave.â He didnât spare her a glance.
âBut, my kingââ
âMy battles, Vetta. I can fight my battles, I do not need help or assistance. I am not weak.â
âIâm so sorry, my king. That wasnât my implication.â She lowered her head to him, even as anger filled her insides.
âShe nursed me all night. Cried for meâ¦â he paused and raised his head as if in remembrance.
What!? That bitch! She did her best to keep her voice calm. âI know she must have been pretending to care. She is trying to get on your good grace, my king. Donât let her, it is all pretense. She is the daughter of the most manipulative man ever born. Of course, she will be manipulative too.â
Calmly, the king closed the book and his eyes met hersâ¦
