Chapter 59

Early on Saturday morning, Isabella resolutely refused Clayton’s intimacy. There were many guests coming today, she couldn’t afford to be exhausted. Otherwise, how could she get work done?

Johnny and the other assistants arrived early. Their main task was to work, and their meals were incidental.

“Is your boss an evil one? Working overtime on the weekend?” Isabella teased as she sorted the food materials brought by them.

Kayson and others held back their laughter and whispered, “Only you’d dare to say such things, Mrs. Murray. We wouldn’t dare to have any objections.”

Johnny glared at him and said, “Do you believe I can make you work overtime every day next week?”

Using a voice they could hear, Kayson whispered to isabella, “We all hope that Johnny finds someone soon, so he can become as gentle as Boss.

“Brat! Are you asking for a beating?” Johnny said, kicking Kayson away.

Isabella whispered in a voice that everyone could hear, “Let’s work together to marry him off.”

Johnny struggled to maintain his facial expression, quickly walking out of the kitchen. It was safer for him to stay away from them. Behind him came whispers of laughter.

“Isn’t Jordyn his sister? Why didn’t she come together?” Isabella asked Kayson while she placed something in the refrigerator.

“They will definitely coordinate their movements together, probably coming with Mr. Maguire,” Kayson replied.

“Another pervert,” Isabella muttered.

She cleaned up all the rooms swiftly before confining Clayton and his four assistants in the study.

Victor was indeed the first to arrive, just as Clayton had expected.

With his elegant and polsed demeanor, he was accompanied by four gorgeous secretaries behind him.

They brought two beautiful fruit baskets, and Isabella thanked them as she invited them in.

Victor had a disdainful expression, saying, “I’ve already done them a favor by coming for a meal. Why would I bring anything here?”

Patiently, Maggie pushed him to the living room and said, “Yes, you’re right. You did a huge favor, but it’s our first visit, so we had to prepare some gifts. Mr. Maguire, please go about your business quickly.”

“Clayton and the others are in the study,” Isabella said.

Maggie watched Victor enter the study and said to Isabella, “He is not usually like this. I don’t know why he’s been acting up about this meal

since last night.”

Isabella chuckled. “You mean he’s not usually that childish?”

The four girls laughed together. Their boss had been regarded as childish by the two beauties in succession recently,

Denise was a classical beauty. Each had their unique characteristics. “Where did Victor find so many capable and pretty secretaries?‘ Isabella

wondered.

Maggie was obviously the prettiest of the four, just like Johnny on Clayton’s side.

But Maggie had exceptional affability, unlike Johnny who was cold and unresponsive.

And Jordyn wasn’t like her brother at all. She was very gentle, making people feel good about her at first sight.

When Isabella expressed her doubts, Jordyn laughed, “Having one iceberg at home is enough. If both of us are cold, my dad would freeze.”

It turned out that their mother passed away early and they were raised by her father alone. Jordyn was sensible and took on all the housework in the family since young, so she knew what to do in the kitchen without Isabella’s instructions.

Regina was a bit like Kayson, lively and mischievous. She was often teased and joked by the others, but she’d never get angry.

Isabella paid more attention to Denise because, according to Hendrix, Kayson liked her.

Denise had delicate features, which exuded a classical aura. Isabella thought that she resembled Rihanna a bit. Denise was very quiet. When others spoke, she just pursed her lips and smiled, appearing very obedient and somewhat pitiable. It was no wonder Kayson liked her.

Meanwhile, Clayton and Victor sat on the deck chairs on the balcony, drinking the fruit juice Isabella had made for them.

you visited Coles?” Clayton asked Victor.

“Yes, he’s feeling much better and recovering quickly,” Victor answered.

“With Peter by his side, I’m not worried about his injury. But when he recovers, I fear that there will be another bloodshed,” Clayton said

calmly, but concern was evident

“It’s almost over this time. The rest of Rose Syndicate has been eliminated by us. What’s left is the negotiation between him and his uncle. We can’t intervene. Benjamin won’t go too hard on him. After all, no one else besides Coles can take over Serpent Gang.” Victor said calmly.

Clayton nodded. “Serpent Gang and Rose Syndicate are still manageable. It’s only a matter of time to straighten things out after establishing authority this time. I’m just worried about Benjamin’s Skyland Corporation. Coles might find it hard to handle. This time, I feel he’s more hostile. If he’s been suppressing too long and finds an outlet to vent, I’m afraid he can’t control himself.”

Victor fell silent for a while before he said, “With Rihanna by his side now, he’ll be more scrupulous.”

“You have to keep an eye on Skyland Corporation. If it gets messy, we can send people there,” Clayton said, glancing at Victor.

Victor nodded and replied, “I see. You can’t lower your guard against Gabriel too.”

“Gabriel is always ready to make a move. He might’ve colluded with external forces. A decisive battle is inevitable, and it depends on how long Rayson International can hold out. Besides, you must never involve Maguire Group,” Clayton said coldly.

“Yes, I understand. I don’t think he’ll lay low either. Isabella is a variable, Clayton. Are you going to bring her back to the Murray family? I think no one will welcome her. It’ll just add more harm,” Victor expressed his concern.

Clayton remained silent.

“Even if you don’t bring her back, they might find out, it’s better to take the straightforward path,” Victor suggested.

Clayton rubbed his temples and said, “Let’s talk about it later.” This was what he had been worried about.

Chapter 59

The doorbell rang and Isabella, wearing her cartoon apron, went to open the door.

It was Andrew and Gwendolyn.

On the balcony, Victor’s face darkened. “Why is Andrew with her?”

Clayton was confused. “Is there a problem?“.

Victor had walked out of the balcony and entered the living room.

Seeing him, Andrew and Gwendolyn were stunned.

“What? You’re related to Victor?” Gwendolyn looked at Andrew, then at Victor, and finally at isabella.

Isabella nodded and said, “I learned about this recently too. Gwen, it’s all thanks to Victor’s help with your matter. Remember when you said it was gratifying to see the downfall of those directors and Mabel’s? It was all done by Victor, including the complete high–definition video provided by the directors. I couldn’t have infiltrated someone’s camera, no matter how skilled I was. Victor was the one who helped tremendously. That’s why I invited him here today, so you can properly thank him in person.”

Gwendolyn looked at Victor’s face for a while and then said, “Well, thank you for your help, Mr. Maguire.

his eyes as he noticed Andrew’s hand on Gwendolyn’s shoulder. “You know each other?” he asked Andrew.

Andrew put his arm around Gwendolyn’s shoulder and said, “Yes. She’s Professor Carey’s daughter and my junior.

Victor suddenly felt that Andrew’s hand on Gwendolyn’s shoulder was an eyesore. “Andrew, you weren’t home for dinner yesterday,” he said.

Andrew was stunned and replied, “I asked Grandpa for permission. I had three surgeries last night.”

Victor smiled mockingly and said, “I’ll tell Grandpa that you lied.”

Andrew was confused. “Victor, did I offend you? What’s wrong with you?”

Andrew scratched his head anxiously.

Seeing him retract his hand, Victor withdrew his gaze and smirked, “I was just kidding”

Andrew looked helplessly at Victor. “Victor, scaring people can lead to serious consequences.” As he spoke, Andrew sat down on the sofa, picked up an apple, and bit on it resentfully.

Victor didn’t say anything and returned to the balcony.

Isabella and Gwendolyn were puzzled by the conversation.

Clayton coughed lightly and whispered in Isabella’s ear, “According to the Maguire family’s rules, all children in the city must return to the Maguire manor for dinner on weekends. If there’s no sufficient reason for absence, they’ll be punished.”

Isabella blinked and looked at Andrew. “Andrew said he had a surgery? He said he asked for permission to be absent.”

“it depends on Grandpa Jerome’s mood. If he happens to be bored, he’ll believe Victor’s words and Andrew will be punished.”

Isabella and Gwendolyn looked at each other and asked, “Punishment? What kind of punishment?”

“That depends on Grandpa Jerome’s mood too.” There was a smile on Clayton’s face.

While eating his apple, Andrew explained, “I was ordered to clean all the chandeliers in the Maguire manor last time, because Grandpa made a bet with the housekeepers. He lost and gave them a day off, so the task became mine.”

Isabella and Gwendolyn looked incredulous.

Andrew raised his chin, pointing toward Victor on the balcony. “Victor should’ve mowed all the lawns last time, right? I remember it was in July,” he said with a chuckle.

Victor entered with one hand in his pocket and the other holding a cup. “Speaking of this, I’ve been meaning to ask, who slandered me that time?”

Andrew chuckled as he ate, shaking his head.

“Was it you?“Victor glared at Andrew.

Andrew shook his head vigorously while holding the apple. “It’s definitely not me, absolutely not. You can go ask Colette,” he said.

Victor pursed his lips and said, “You wouldn’t dare.”

Gwendolyn asked curiously, “So, does that mean you can just report your other relatives? For example, if you want someone to agree to your

condition, can you threaten them like that? Can you cause trouble for anyone you don’t like too?”

Andrew shook his head and said, “No, no. That’s not allowed. Things can be discussed among relatives. We can’t involve Grandpa in this.

What goes around comes around.”

Isabella and Gwendolyn were surprised. They looked at Clayton, and he nodded. “They never try to slander each other unless they had no

other choice.”

Andrew then shared a few more stories of him and Victor being punished. Even Victor couldn’t help smiling. It was obvious that the Maguire family members were close and friendly.

Gwendolyn’s gaze shifted toward Clayton.

He was wearing a pair of belge casual pants and a black casual shirt today, looking very stylish and handsome. Standing next to petite Isabella, they were a perfect match.

Clayton looked at her and asked, “Is there a problem, Ms. Carey?”

His gaze was cold and sharp. Meeting his eyes, anyone’s first reaction would likely be to look away.

Gwendolyn avoided his gaze, but seeing Isabella’s pure face, she summoned her courage to nod.

“Clayton, now that you’re with Isabella, I won’t say much. Remember, Isabella is the best girl in the world. You must treat her well. Don’t make her sad, unhappy, or bully her. Otherwise, I’ll never let you off! Don’t think she doesn’t have a maternal family backing her! My parents. are both professors at the University of Moulmore. Even if you have money, they won’t be afraid of you!”

Gwendolyn’s huge eyes widened as she looked at Clayton. Thinking of Isabella, she wasn’t afraid and clenched her fists.

Isabella was stunned, and felt touched. She stepped forward to hug Gwendolyn.
