CHAPTER 67
Goodbye Cheater Hello CEO’s Wife
Chapter 67
Scarlett glanced at Felix coldly. âFor now, I can only offer you a place to stay, but itâs your choice. My hopes now all rest on this child. If you want a better life ahead, youâd better pray for a safe pregnancy and a son for me. And donât stir up trouble for me.â
Felix raised his brows, clearly displeased. âYouâre getting too big for your boots. How dare you talk to me like that!â He raised his hand, about
to strike Scarlett.
Scarlett stared him down coldly, without dodging.
âCut that out!â Fiona intervened, pushing Felix away and shooting him a look.
Then she turned back to Scarlett, sitting by her side affectionately. âScarlett, whoâs the father of your child? Whatâs his family background
like?â
Scarlett glanced at the disgruntled Felix, then leaned back against the couch. âHeâs Zachary Winslow, the son of the CEO of Avid Ventures
Real Estate,â she remarked.
âWhat? Real estate? He must be loaded then. Real estate is booming these days,â Felix exclaimed as he sat down on the other side of Scarlett, eagerly looking at her.
âEven though Iâm carrying Zacharyâs child, he already has a marriage contract. On the day of his engagement, our affair was exposed, and now his fiancée has called off the engagement. However, she comes from a wealthy family, and his family is reluctant to let go of this prospective daughterâinâlaw.â Scarlett smirked.
âWhat? I wonât allow it! Scarlett, what can I do to help?â Felix, upon hearing that, rolled up his sleeves with a fierce look, ready to take action.
Scarlett gave him a disdainful look. âIâm currently staying at their place because of the baby Iâm carrying. His mom is anxious about the baby, but they wonât approve of Zachary and me getting married because I donât have the family background his fiancée does.â
âSo⦠are you planning to be his side piece?â Fiona asked, probing.
The beautiful Scarlett wore a chilly smile. âImpossible! I must marry into the Winslow family with honor and become the lady of the house in the Winslow family.â
Fiona nodded approvingly, placing her hand on Scarlettâs leg. âScarlett, I support you! You must marry into a prestigious family and change your background. Youâre so talented, with your looks and education, you wouldnât disgrace their family in the slightest!â
âMom is right. Scarlett, both Mom and I support you!â Felix chimed in.
Scarlett scoffed. âSupport? What support do you have to offer? Iâm seen as a lowly woman from a humble background in their eyes. If they found out I have a gamblingâaddicted brother, they would be even more opposed to Zach marrying me.â
Felix avoided Scarlettâs gaze, muttering, âIâll change it. Isnât that enough?â
Fiona, unable to bear seeing Felix like that, quickly jumped in, âDonât worry, Scarlett. Iâll keep an eye on him this time, wonât let him cause trouble for you. You can trust us. Weâre family, and weâll have your back.â
Felix quickly chimed in, âYeah.â
Scarlett stood up, not even looking at them. âRemember what you said earlier. If I make it, youâll have it good. If notâ¦â
With that, she grabbed her bag, extracted a wad of cash from her purse, and placed it on the coffee table. âWatch your spending. Even though Iâm staying at the Winslow residence now, I have no freedom and no money.â

Then, Scarlett grabbed her bag and walked out the door.

Fiona hurriedly got up. âScarlett, are you leaving now? Iâm going to the market to get some groceries. Why donât you stay for dinner before you go?â
Scarlett didnât even turn around. âNo need. I just said I was going back to school as an excuse to get out. If you nee instead of calling. Calling isnât convenient.â
thing, just text me
Scarlett strolled down the sidewalk. The autumn sun shone brightly, warm but not scorching, and the ground had already begun to be scattered with fallen leaves. She placed her hand on her bulging belly.
The child would be her ticket into the Winslow family.
She once thought Isabella was a poor person struggling at the bottom of society, like herself.
She wasnât inferior to Isabella in any aspect. In terms of looks, Isabella couldnât compare to her. In terms of grades, she wasnât much worse than Isabella. Personalityâwise, Isabella wasnât talkative, while she was gentle and outgoing.

But all the boys at school, regardless of their grade or class, liked Isabella. Scarlett found that even the boys she had crushes on also favored
Isabella.
Standing next to her, Scarlett always felt overshadowed.
Gradually, she started to feel envious.
She thought, âWhy does Isabella always seem to outshine me in every aspect?â
And what she never expected was that Isabella had such an amazing fiancé, not only handsome but also wealthy, with such a good family
background.
At that moment, jealousy consumed her heart.
So, she pretended to get closer to Isabella, often seen by her side. With that, she managed to meet Zachary, Isabellaâs fiancé and successfully caught his attention.
Scarlett smiled faintly. Since childhood, she firmly believed that whatever she desired, she would attain, setting goals for herself along the way. The satisfaction of achieving them served as her constant driving force.
However, this time, her goal was not about ranks and scholarships, but about Zachary.
Making a man like her seemed far easier than staying up all night studying.
Zachary fell for her after just three meetings, while he always appeared impatient with Isabella. It brought her immense satisfaction.
Now, having come this far, she was even more reluctant to give up.
Scarlett pondered, âYvonne thinks she can use me as a pawn, but she doesnât realize Iâm not that naïve.â
Standing on the flyover, looking down at the bustling traffic, she said to herself, âScarlett, you must marry into the Winslow family, make those whoâve been looking down on you start looking up to you.â
Returning to the Winslow residence, she changed her shoes at the doorstep and spotted Megan sitting on the couch in the living room, munching on chips.
Megan gave her a sideways glance. âYouâre finally back. Youâre pregnant and still canât manage to stay home.â

Scarlett looked timid, speaking softly. âI just went back to school.â Her fingers nervously twisted together,
Megan snapped, âWho are you trying to garner sympathy from? Go grab me a drink from the kitchen!â
Scarlett, submissive, slowly walked to the kitchen.

As she passed by the stairs, she caught a glimpse of Lorelai coming down. So, she pretended to stumble, âOuch!â Scarlett exclaimed as she sat on the ground.
Lorelai hurried down the stairs, shouting, âWhat happened? Zaylee! Zaylee, come quickly!â
Zaylee rushed over, and they carefully helped Scarlett up. Lorelai anxiously asked, âAre you okay? Is your stomach feeling uncomfortable? Are you experiencing any pain?â
She kept asking one after another. Scarlett frowned for a while before gently replying, âIâm okay.â
Sitting on the couch, Megan glanced around and sneered, âDo you think youâre made of glass? Who do you think youâre trying to scare?â
Scarlett timidly said, âSorry, I⦠I was in a rush.â
âIn a rush for what? Youâre pregnant.â After seeing that Scarlett was fine, Lorelai couldnât help but feel annoyed.
Scarlett stammered, âI⦠I was going to the kitchen to get Megan a drink.â
Megan, furious, jumped up from the couch and said to Scarlett, âI asked you to get a drink, not to fall. You canât even walk properly, and now you want to blame me?â
Scarlett looked panicked. âNo, Megan. I didnât, I swear!â
As she spoke, her tears began to fall.
Lorelai turned to scold Megan, âShut up! Sheâs pregnant. How could you make her fetch things? What if something goes wrong? We have several housekeepers here. Arenât they enough for you to boss around?â
Seeing Lorelai getting angry, Megan didnât dare say anything.
Upon entering, Zachary caught sight of Scarlett in tears and overheard Lorelai scolding Megan. His temper flared. âJust because youâre the daughter of the Winslow family, does that make you so superior? Stop bullying people around here!â
Megan took Lorelaiâs scolding silently, but when Zachary walked in and started berating ber, she immediately exploded. âWho am I bullying? Zach, are you yelling at me because of this shameless woman? Mom, do something about him!â
Zachary pulled Scarlett close. âDonât bully Scarlett again, or else donât blame me for being rude!â
Scarlett quickly grabbed Zacharyâs arm. âZach, donât be angry. Itâs all my fault, donât blame Megan⦠Zach, what happened to your clothes? How did they get dirty?â
Zacharyâs creamâcolored suit was stained.
Zacharyâs expression darkened. âNothing, the waiter accidentally spilled. Iâm going upstairs to change. Come with me.â
âOkay,â Scarlett obediently replied.
ter compliance lifted Zacharyâs mood slightly.

Coming out of the bathroom, Zachary saw Scarlett silently shedding tears in the chair by the window.
âWhatâs wrong?â Zachary asked as he dried his hair.
Scarlett quickly wiped her face and forced a smile as she approached. âLet me help you.â
Her forced smile carried a pitiful beauty, evoking sympathy.
Compared to the earlier dominant Isabella, Scarlett appeared more endearing.
âScarlett, Megan has been spoiled by my parents since she was little. Donât take it personally.â Zachary gently held Scarlettâs hand.
Scarlett lowered her head, tears dripping onto Zacharyâs hand, and she quickly reached to wipe them away. âSorry⦠Sorryâ¦â
Zacharyâs heart melted. He hugged her, gently patting her back. âItâs okay, donât cry.â
Scarlettâs shoulders shook as she sobbed, âSorry, Zachary, itâs all my fault. âthlen in love with you and had your child.â

With tears welling in her eyes, Scarlett gently pushed away from Zacharyâs embrace and looked at him. âZachary, Iâve made up my mind. Letâs break up. I canât let you bear the blame for me, nor can I jeopardize the marriage of convenience between the Winslow and Ingram families. Itâs my mistake, and Iâll take responsibility. All I ask is for you to
to let me raise our child. Iâll raise with love and care, consider it your presence beside me.â
Tears streamed down Scarlettâs face as she spoke, but every word she uttered was clear.
Zachary, angered, retorted, âScarlett, what are you talking about?â
Scarlett gave a wistful smile. âI wonât marry again. My mom and brother arrived and agreed to help raise the child. Donât worry. Although we may not have much, weâll do whatever it takes to give our child a good life. I came back to pack my things, say goodbye, and make things clear. From now on, we part ways. I wish you happiness, Zachary,â
Then, she turned to open the wardrobe, preparing to pack her clothes.
Zachary suddenly embraced her from behind. âNo, I donât agree. Scarlett, I wonât let you leave. You know I love you.â
Scarlett stiffened, her gaze fixed on Zacharyâs hand holding hers, and she shook her head gently. âMy mom made it clear, even if she had to beg, she wouldnât let me become a mistress and ruin someone elseâs marriage. As long as sheâs alive, she wonât allow it. My brother may be unreliable, but this time he promised to help me raise the child if I go back, even if he has to work at a construction site.â
