Chapter 50
The Alpha Claimed Me Deeply
Essiâs pov âSo youâre telling me the little girl is with Genieve, sister of Alpha Raphael?â I grit my teeth, anger so fierce coursing through me.
Malia nodded and bowed her head, her fingers playing with the rune stones that apparently spoke to her and foresaw the future and the present.
I hated witches with a passion. They were nasty and could be quite trickery. But I have been searching for that damn pixie child for years now, only to now know that she was right under my nose all along.
How did I miss this?
Genieve must be keeping her locked away.
I lift the glass of blood to my lips, seeping some of that coppery goodness. I let out an ahh then grumble.
âThen itâs settled. I will ask Genieve to hand me the child Malia shook her head. âI am afraid it wouldnât be that simple queen. Genieve is fond of the girl and sees her as her daughter. She also knows what the girl possesses, and what she can create. She will never willingly give you the girl.â
My eyes flashes as I snarled Malia flinches and I could hear the quickening of her heartbeat. The blood that pumped through her veins.
My fangs pierce out and Malia froze. I rolled my eyes. âDonât be a fool, Malia. I do not want your dirty blood. You witches sicken me.â
To my amusement, Malia sighed in relief.
I rise off my chair, my glass in hand as I tapped my finger on the glass. I hummed. Yes, I remember that stupid Athena woman mentioning how she told the wolf people about the child. I thought she was bluffing at the time. Apparently not.
I hummed If Genieve knows about the girl, sheâd never willingly give the girl up as Malia had said.
âThen I will have to take the child by force. Wage war on them if I have to.â
Malia picks up her stones, shakes them in her fist, and drops them. They spun for a few moments before stopping. Malia sucks in a sharp breath. âI am afraid you canât do that queen Essi.â
I snarled in anger, her response was not what I was expecting. âAnd why the hell not!?â
Malia lifts her head, her gaze wide with fear as she reluctantly answers dreadfully. âBecause I see your death. If you wage war on Alpha Raphael youâll die. His pack is filled with skilled fighters.â
This is exactly why those dogs needed to move off the face of the earth. Dirty repulsive wet dogs. They sickened me. âI want the child!â I snarled, the glass shattering from the force I held it with.
Malia shakes her head. âIâm sorry In a flash I had her in my clutches, my fingers wrapped around her slim neck, her feet dangling above the floor. âYouâre useless. Another fucking useless creature. Youâre a witch, find me a way to get the girl!â I roared.
Maliaâs eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as I applied more pressure to her neck. âPlease queen Essi. I canât control the future.
I applied even more pressure until she was gasping for air, until her legs shook, and until I hear the sound of her heart pumping painfully. âFind me a way.â I snarled. âOr else, Iâll feed my entire clan with your blood.â
: I threw her across the room, her body smashing into the wall. She gasped in pain, a scream tearing out of her lips. She whimpers when her body slacks down to the floor, her head lifting up and eyes glistening in fright as she stares at me.
âGive me the girl!â I snarled.
Maliaâs eyes widen even more, her face turning pale as she quickly crawls towards her stones. âI will my queen. I will find a way.â She shakily grabs the stones and shakes them. Tossing them to the floor she whispers.
âGenieve goes on a run usually on afternoons. There will be no other wolf close by today.â
Hmmm. Perhaps she wasnât as useless as I thought.
âAre you certain she will show up here?â I seethed, getting impatient. There were still no signs of Genieve and it has passed ten minutes.
Malia nods, her body sticking to Rick, another vampire. They were currently twenty of us, just in case things donât go as planned with Genieve.
âOnly seconds now,â Malia says, her gaze on a certain shrub.
I listen closely, smiling when I heard the sound of paws digging into the earth. One wolf.
Genieve.
Malia was right Seconds later, as Malia had predicted, Genieveâs wolf emerges out of the trees. Her form was tense and intimidating.
Dogs. Nasty dogs. Their stench alone is unpleasant.
She snarls, her eyes turning foggy.
I quickly run to her, trespassing the boundary, my arm around her neck as I spat. âI wouldnât do that if I were you. Youâre outnumbered Genieve. They would not reach you in time.â
Genieve twisted her body, fighting off my hold until I was forced to loosen my grip around her neck. Iâm pushed away, my feet digging into the dirt to stop myself from flying. She was strong.
My clan hiss, ready to come over to help, but I pushed up my hand to tell them to wait.
âNow Genieve, I only came to talk.â I tsked.
Genieve shifts into her human form. Her eyes were glaring into my own with hatred.
âYou wound me with a look like that Genieve. I only came here with good intentions.â I lied, smilking when she takes a step forward. She was a bold dog.
âI know why you are here Essi.â She ground out.
I raised a brow. âReally?â
âYou wonât get her!â She snarls, eyes flashing blue.
I sighed heavily. âAnd here I was hoping youâd give her to me willingly.â
âDo you really think I didnât take the disgusting stench of you a mile away? I already notified my brother, heâs on his way.â Genieve sent me a cold smirk before shifting into her wolf.
I hiss when she knocks into me, sending me flying into the air. I twisted around, landing on my feet. She snarls, her aura changing into bloodthirst and rage.
I looked at my clan, nodding. They come to circle around her, one by one running towards her. She roars, snarling as she fought them off.
I looked at Malia beside Rick and gritted my teeth. That dumb witch didnât tell me Genieve wouldâve notified her brother of our arrival.
I run to Malia, and held her by her neck. âYou dumb bitch. I should kill you now. But I will not as yet, I may need you.â I snarled, flying her body to Rick.
âTake her back. The rest of us will handle this.â I said tuming away from them.
If her brother is on his way, I will not be any match for him. I will have to take care of her now before the rest reaches here.
I run towards the fight, my nails sinking into her back leg as she fights off two vampires. She didnât see me coming and whimpered as I slash her other leg.
âHold her still!â I roared.
She was a Beta and a very powerful one at that. It took all eighteen vampires to hold her down before I sank my fangs into her throat and tore off her head.
I watch the light die from her eyes, at the same moment five wolves emerge out of the woods. None was the alpha or the other higher ranks. They were mere fighters.
They snarled, howling when they saw their Betaâs head away from her body. I smirk. âTake care of them,â
I told the rest of my clan before retreating. I didnât want to be there when Raphael makes his entrance.
Dogs. So annoying.
Couldâve been avoided if she had just handed me the child.
âWhere are the others?â Rick asked, looking behind me.
âIâm doing just fine after being chased by more than ten smelly dogs. Thanks for asking.â I rolled my eyes as I entered the room.
âWhere are they Essi?â Rick asked with an edge in his voice.
I waved a hand nonchalantly. âI presume dead if the alpha showed up.â
Rickâs gaze dropped in horror. âMy little brother was among them Essi. How can you leave them?â
I narrowed my eyes on him, not liking his tone one bit. âYour brother has sacrificed himself for the greater good. If we get the girl, you can take revenge. We can take revenge on all and rid this world of these nasty things.â
â What girl Essi? Sheâs still in their clutches and youâve already killed Genieve! How are we supposed to get her from them now?â Rick snarled âThatâs why I made you go with that stupid bitch Malia. Iâm sure our little witch will find a way. Where is she?â I seethed, scanning: the room.
He points at the door behind him.â She said she needed to check her stones for a way around this mess.â
âYou left her alone?!â I snarled. How dumb can he be to leave a witch by herself? Theyâre witches for a reason.
I donât wait for his answer and push the door open. Malia who was kneeling on the floor while watching the stones, lifts her head when she hears me enter the room.
âWe need to wait for when sheâs older. The older she is the stronger the wolfsbane will be. There is no possible way to get her now. Not when Raphael will keep a close eye on her. But I see something that will happen in the future. Something that will work in our favor. We just need to wait a few more years until sheâs seventeen.â She rushed out in one breath.
Raphaelâs pov The vampire gasps beneath the weight of my foot on his neck.
âWhy did your clan come here?â I roared, unable to look at my dead sister.
This was an ambush. Someone who needed something.
âWe-we were looking for the ch-ild with the o-dd fea-tures.â The young vampire gasped, his hands clutching at my feet to try to stop my weight.
Aurora?
They killed my sister because of this little girl?
Angered that my sister took in an orphan only to get killed because of having a good heart, I snapped. I cared little when I squished the vampireâs airway with the weight of my foot before getting impatient and tearing off his head.
That dumb brat was the cause of my pack losing their Beta.
Maliaâs pov (Before Essi entered the room)
I shook my rune stones in my palm until I felt the familiar heat that told me I should drop them. I watch them spin for a few moments, the air in my lungs not able to escape yet until they stopped and I could read them.
I saw an image of a pretty pink haired girl with beautiful unique eyes.
Aurora.
She seems to be a teenager now. But what confused me was that she was running away from something, or someone.
I saw the flash of her crossing a border then the image shifted. Sheâs now staring up into amber eyes. I could almost feel her heart pound. She was scared, yetâ¦what is this feeling?
Suddenly Iâm no longer seeing from Auroraâs point of view, but now looking down at her.
Need. Craving. Want.
Mate.
I gasped. She would be mated to a wolf. An Alpha by the feeling of that aura. One strong enough to take down Essi or anyone who will try to harm her.
Suddenly the image shifts again and Iâm now staring at Essiâs head. Blood dripping from her tom neck as a strong man tears it off her shoulders. The man turns around and my heart pounds.
This match, it was fated by the moon. The moon needed me to protect their bond. I froze, coming out of the vision when I hear Essiâs voice. Sheâs back.
With my heart racing, I change the runes, not wanting her to see anything that would catch her curiosity.
Seeing her death was the best feeling I could ever feel.
After listening to her argue with that other vampire Rick, she enters. I could feel her anger and lift my head to rush out. âWe need t o wait for when sheâs older. The older she is the stronger the wolfsbane will be. There is no possible way to get her now. Not when Raphael will keep a close eye on her. But I see something will happen in the future. Something that will work in our favor. We just need to wait a few more years until Sheâs seventeen.â The moon wanted me to protect the girl at all costs. And that I will do.
