CHAPTER 55
Alpha Alec's Redemption
Chapter 55
Sadie.
âWhat the f**k are you doing here?â I growl when my eyes land on Alec.
It was the next day, and I canât really say that Iâd slept much at night. I was p**d and irritable.
âYou honestly didnât think Iâd allow you to interrogate him all by yourself, did you?â he asks as he pushes himself off the wall he was leaning on. âI want answers as much as you doâ
It was early, and I had to miss breakfast with Aspen because I wanted to get this **t done. My mind kept going a thousand miles per second at night, making it impossible for me to get a good rest.
Beating the s**t out of that b**d hadnât helped. It hadnât calmed me down. It had done nothing to ease torment of what I went through because of what he did.
the
After Iâd given the order for him to be taken to the dungeon, Iâd materialized in the forest. Iâd cried and screamed my anger and bitterness, until there was nothing left and I was completely spent. I later went back home, had diner with my baby girl and then went to sleep.
I couldnât imagine why someone would do something so despicable to someone else. Then again, people donât always have a reason to be evil. There are some who vileness is just in their nature.
âI doubt you can allow me to do anything,â I say after remembering that Alec was still standing before me.
Without another word, I stomp to the dungeons. The sooner I can get the answers, the sooner they can all leave.
topping, I twist my head and look at Alec when realization hits me. âItâs funny, you know, that you labeled me a
traitor and then boom, your sisterâs mate turns out to be the biggest traitor of all.â
Raven had filled me in during dinner. Imagine my shock when I found out that that b*d w**as Piperâs mate. When I heard him call her babe, I didnât pay much attention.
Unlike what humans believe, werewolves donât always wait for their mates. We are allowed to date as casually as we want, what we arenât allowed is to mark someone who isnât our mate. Well, unless your mate dies or cheats and you decide to take a chosen.
Alec growls. It gives me pleasure to antagonize him. After what he has done, he deserves that and more.
Not giving him a chance to say anything, I continue as I walk. âI wonder, are you going to torture him now that youâve found him or are you going to hold back because heâs your darling sisterâs mate? After all, I wasnât given any consideration even though Iâd been your sisterâs best friend since we were little girls.â
I smile when I see the struggle in his eyes. Itâs right f**g there, Heâs caught between a rock and a hard place. He
knows what this guy did is unforgivable, especially because he targeted an alpha, but then he is his darling sisterâs mate.
*Choices, choicesâ I taunt, just as we get to the dungeons. âI wonder what the almighty alpha Alec is going to do. Is. he going to punish the traitor or let him go for his sisterâs sake?â
âStop it, Sadieâ he demands, an edge in his voice.
Instead, I just chuckle. âOh, no Alec. I canât stop. This is just the f**g start.â
With those words, I push open the door and enter.
The guard on duty bows. âAlphaâ
âWhere is the prisoner?â I ask, moving forward.
âAlready in the torture room, Alphaâ
âPerfectâ
I
I smile and start walking. Donât you just love it when people are efficient? They already knew what I wanted. I didnât have to tell them what I needed.
I ignore Alecâs footsteps behind me. My focus was on Piperâs mate and how much fun we were going to have.
When I push the door to the room, we find the man hanging from the ceiling. His hands tied up with silver chains.
The room didnât have much. Just the chains, a chair, and a table with various torture devices. It wasnât much, but then again did you really need much when you were torturing your victims?
âGood morningâ I say cheerily.
He lifts his head, but doesnât say anything. I doubt he can even see me clearly given his eyes are swollen shut.
âYou have no idea how much Iâve waited for this dayâ I continue as I walk to the table. âItâs long overdue if you ask
me, whatâs your name?â
âCalvinâ he answers.
I feel Alecâs overwhelming presence, but I just ignore him. He didnât matter at this point. No one mattered. Just me and the b**d that ruined my life.
âSo Calvin, what would you like me to start with?â I stop and look at him. âShould we start small and work our way up? Maybe start with a small knife?â

âIâll talkâ he rushes to say.

Sighing, I turn to Alec and say casually, âIâm disappointed. I love it when they fight me. It gives me more of a thrill to break them and see their spirit die within them.â
Alec looks at me like Iâve lost my d**n mind. And maybe I did. He broke me in that dungeon three years ago. I doubt Iâve ever been able to mend myself back together. Yeah, take a look b**d, this is what you turned me into.
âPlease, Iâll talkâ Calvin whimpers like the little weak f**r he is. âIâll tell you anything you need to know.â
Alec doesnât waste time. âWhat did Sadie offer you to drug my drink?â
Goddess help me. Was Alec being real right now? Itâs beyond me how he still thought that I was the mastermind behind everything.
âShe didnât offer me anythingâ Calvin answers. âShe isnât the one who paid me to drug your drink. Someone else
did. A different woman.â
Well, at least now I know to look for a woman.
There is a moment of silence as his words ricochet in the room. Finally, the truth comes out after years.
Alec pushes from the wall and starts towards Calvin. There was an edge to his movement. A certain danger that surrounded him.
âThatâs not right, she gave me the drink.â Alec argues and I just roll my eyes. âYour eyes are swollen shut, you didnât get a good look at herâ
I see whatâs happening. Whatâs going on. The truth was out and Alec was grasping to what he believed was the truth because accepting what Calvin said means admitting that he was wrong and I was innocent.
âI saw her when she attacked me just after I came to the packâ Calvin says. âAnd even if I hadnât seen her face, her scent and voice would be clear proof that she isnât the one that paid me.â
âWhat do you mean?â I ask as I step forward and stand next to Alec who, by the way, looked like he was having a mini-panic attack.
âI never saw her face. All through our dealings, when we first met and when she gave me instructions, she had her face covered with a veil. It was weird honestly, but what was even weirder was her scent. You smell like summer. Floral, fresh and warm. She smelled like death. Cold, dark and absolutely terrifyingâ
Werewolves can mask their scents and become untraceable. What we canât do is alter it. Alec knows this.
âShe was a rogue?â I push since Alec looks lost.

âNoâ Calvin answers. âBut she was something else entirely. Iâm not sure what she was, but I could sense her strong power and auraâ
He tries to move, probably seeking a comfortable position. Too bad there isnât. Iâve been here before, so I know that no matter what he tries he wonât find a comfortable position.
âDid she tell you why she wanted you to drug the alpha?â
He shakes his head. âNo, but the alpha wasnât my only target. She told me to make sure that both you and the alpha have the drinks.â
What the hell?
âMe? What did I have to do with her plans?â
âI donât know. She just told me to wait until you two were together before giving you the drinks.â
All this time I thought that Alec was the target and I was the unfortunate victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now, heâs telling me that I was target by this woman, but why?
What was her end game? What did she benefit paying someone to drug us?
âHow did you meet her?â Alec asks, his voice distorted.
âSheâs the one that found me. Iâm alone wolf. I love my life but it isnât easy trying to live as a human and making ends meet. So I started doing odd jobs when I almost exposed myself while working as a bartender in a human club. Trading information, spying, following cheating mates to get proof, that kind of thing. I didnât go looking for her, sheâs the one that found me.â
Even though lone wolves arenât usually a danger, they arenât allowed to work in werewolf establishments. Most werewolf businesses are owned by packs and, since lone wolves gave up pack life, they canât work for them. It would beat the point.
âAnd why would you agree to work for her knowing you were going against an alpha?â I just didnât get it honestly. Everyone knows never to cross an alpha. Especially someone like Alec.
âAt first, I didnât agree, but then she said sheâd pay me really well and that sheâd make sure Iâm never caught.â
âHow much was she offering?â this comes from Alec.
âA million dollarsâ Calvinâs answer makes me gasp in shock.
F**k, that was a lot of money. I can see why he risked going against Alec.
âI bet you didnât count on your mate being the sister of the same alpha you betrayed,â I mock and smile in
satisfaction when he winces at my words.
âNo, I didnât. it was supposed to be easy and it was. She didnât give me a lot of details. Just that I had to make sure both of you drunk. Sheâs the one that gave me the drug. She told me it doesnât have a scent, so the alpha wouldnât be able to smell it. All I had to do was show up at the party that was being held for his mate and do as was told. She paid me the next morning. I left and never saw her again.â
The fact that he knew the party was for Alecâs mate, and he still came, brings forth something dark inside me.
I was grateful for the truth but, there were still a lot of unanswered questions. I get if it were an alpha that had approached him. A lot of the alphas would benefit if Alec lost his mate and turned feral, but a woman? A strange woman that veiled her face, what would she benefit? Unless she was a witch and was working for an alpha.
There will be time think things through later, when Iâm alone.
âThank youâ I face Calvin.
âFor what?â
âFor making this so much easyâ I reply with a smile. âYouâve just proved to me how selfish you are. You accepted the job because of the money, not really caring that youâd be ruining three lives that day. Today is the day of your
reckoning.â
It was time for my fun.
