Chapter 30
Alpha’s Thrice Rejected Mate
Chapter 30
âJust what the F*CK did you think you were doing in my bed?!â I demanded, standing over Giselle as she lay on my floor, her cheek still red from the slap Iâd given her.
To be honest, I regretted that. Iâd just been so startled when sheâd pursued me across the bed after I realized she wasnât Kora that I hit her just to get her away.
âWell, as I recall, I was doing you.â Giselle sniffed, looking up at me with rage-filled eyes.
âDonât give me that look.â I snarled.
âWhy not? You hit me!â Giselle accused me.
âYou R PED me!â I shot back.
Giselle snorted. âPlease. Like a man can be râped. You liked it.â
It took everything in me not to tear her to shreds. âThatâs not the truth, Giselle! I
didnât WT it! Not with YOU
âYou wanted it. On some level, you knew I wasnât Kora. You remembered how good we are together.â Giselle reached for me. âWe can have that again.â
I thought I was going to be sick. I gripped her wrist tightly and hauled her to her feet.
âSee?â she said, walking her fingers up my chest. âI knew youâd come aro-â
âIâm taking out the trash,â I said, swatting her hand off my chest.
Giselle blinked. âEx-excuse me?â
âI told you to leave the castle. You didnât listen.â I carried her by her arm to the door, dangling her in the air like I had a wet cat by the tail.
âAnd I told you weâre going to be mated. Iâm going to be your Luna, Mason Hale. You canât just go back on your word.â Giselle snapped.
I stared at her. âWhen did I ever say you were going to be my Luna?â
âWhy else would I sleep with you?â Giselle huffed.
I shook my head slowly. âGoddess, youâre a piece of work.â
âI really wish youâd quit all this nonsense with Kora and just realize the truth,â Giselle said.
âTruth?â I echoed.
âWe belong together, MÃ¥son. Iâm the only woman in this pack who is a fit Luna for you. Taking Kora as your Luna? Please. The pack will tear itself apart,â Giselle scoffed.
âI wish youâd realize the truth that youâll never measure up to Kora. And I wouldnât mate you if you were the last shifter on earth,â I replied, giving her a shake. Maybe itâd help some sense sink into her at last.
I was not so lucky. âItâs Kora, Mason. This is all because of Kora. Sheâs put some kind of spell on you. Iâll bet she conspired with some witch from the
Shadowmoon Pack.â Giselle said.
âYouâre telling me thereâs a witch in the Shadowmoon Pack?â I breathed slowly through my nose, latching onto the information.
Giselleâs eyes widened. âNo, of⦠of course not!â
I gave her another shake. âHow do you know this?â
âI-Mason it was just a figure of speech-â
âBullsh*t.â I set her on her feet but did not let go of her wrist. I dragged her toward my study.
Eddie was standing outside it with a hand-wringing maid. âAlpha Hale! Thank the Goddess. I was just about to go find you! Misty here said thatâ¦â His eyes narrowed on Giselle.
He held up a small vial. purple droplets sliding around the inside of it as he rolled it back and forth between his fingers. âMissing something, Giselle?â
âWhatâs that?â I barked. âEveryone, in the office. Iâm not having this conversation n*ked, out in the hall.â
âSo, youâre having it n*ked inside the study?â Eddie asked.
I gave him a dark. Iâm-not-in-the-mood look, and he simply nodded, shooing Misty inside while I hauled Giselle through the doorway and threw her near-n*ked aâs into a chair.
âItâs not what you think,â Giselle said quickly, though I could see the cogs working in her brain.
âTrying to work out what to tell me to think?â I asked silkily, leaning my frame over the chair.
full
âMisty thinks itâs a drug,â Eddie supplied, standing beside me while Misty made herself scarce in a corner.
âIs it a drug. Giselle?â Only a fool would ignore the danger in my tone.
Giselle, while a calculating, grasping bi tch, was no fool. âI⦠Alpha Haleâ¦â âNOW itâs âAlpha Hale?â I seethed.
âAlpha.â Giselle swallowed. âI just thought you needed⦠to relax a bit. Thatâs all.â
I took the vial from Eddie and waved it back and forth slowly in front of her face. âWho is the witch from Shadowmoon who gave this to you, Giselle?â
âThereâs n-no witchâ¦â Giselleâs voice trembled.
I slammed my fist into the chair beside her head. The wood snapped, and the leather tore, the top of the chair hanging there like some dead thing.
âI didnât meet with the witch! I just got the drug, okay?!â Giselle yelped, trying to scramble away from me.
There was nowhere to go.
âThe name.â I growled. âI want a name.â
âCharlie. We met down in Fullbright, and I asked him to help me, and-â Giselle babbled.
âYou know, I always suspected Charlie of being a traitor.â Eddie grumbled. âIâll have him brought here and-
At the moment, I didnât care about that. I wrapped my hand around Giselleâs throat. âThe witchâs name.â
âAlpha.â Giselle pleaded. âYou have to understand I did it all for you!â
I squeezed.
Giselleâs eyes bulged.
âD-Deborah!â she choked. âDeborah Shadowmoon!â
âLuna Regent. Alpha Lyleâs mother,â Eddie provided in a low tone.
I nodded. âThank you, Giselle. That concludes our business. You may go.â
Giselle gasped for air when I released her, holding her n*eck. It would bruise.
I didnât care.
âAlpha Hale,â she coughed. âI really did-â
âBy âyou may go, I mean Iâm showing incredible restraint and am exiling you instead of killing you,â I said flatly. âNow, go pack your sh*t and get the F*CK out of my pack lands. Never. EVER. Come. Back.â
Giselle turned absolutely white. âYou canât do that! This is my home!â
I ignored her. âSee to it she leaves within the hour, and escort her to the border personally.â
âWhich border?â Eddie asked.
âAny border. I really donât give a da mn.â I turned to the maid. âI assume she
threatened you?â
Mistyâs eyes filled with tears and she bowed her head. âYes, Alpha.â
âIâll decide your punishment later. For now, get out of my sight,â I sighed.
âYes, Alpha.â Misty scurried away.
âShe did come forward this morningâ Eddie murmured.
âIâll take that into consideration.â I went to my desk and unlocked a bottom drawer.
Giselle threw herself at my feet. âAlpha, please!â
âWhy is she still here?â I asked Eddie, not looking at Giselle.
Eddie grabbed Giselle by the shoulders. She scratched my ankle as she tried to cling to me, but I simply tugged my leg free. I didnât watch as Eddie marched her out, wailing and screaming for me.
I pulled Oswaldâs journal from the top of the desk drawer and laid it on my blotter, fl*pping to the final pages.
âDeborahâ¦ââ I read. âI will do as you ask.â
It was a f*cking witch. All this time, all this pain, and it was Shadowmoonâs f*cking
Luna witch.
I threw the journal across the room and buried my face in my hands.
Kora. How would she ever forgive me?
