Chapter 50
Alpha’s Thrice Rejected Mate
Chapter 50
Mason
I woke up the next morning with a sense of purpose. Finally, it was time to make some changes to our pack. The previous day had been a wake-up call, and I was determined to make things right. As the Alpha, it was my responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of our pack, and I was going to do whatever it took to accomplish
that.
1 headed to the pack meeting spot and called for a meeting. As the members arrived, I could feel the tension in the air. They knew that something was up. It wasnât everyone, but there were enough of us here that the news of my decisions would spread quickly, so I decided to start.
âGood morning.â I began. âIâve called this meeting because some changes need to be made. We canât keep living like this. Itâs time to take action.â
There were some grumblings, but I growled low at anyone who dared to voice their opposition. It was time for a change, and I wouldnât let anyone stand in my way.
âFirst on my agenda is the traitorsâ cave. Itâs been a symbol of betrayal for too long, and I donât want it to have any more power over our pack. So weâre tearing it down.â My mate had spent her childhood in that da mn dormitory, suffering for things that werenât her fault. I didnât want anyone else to go through that.
âBut Alpha,â someone spoke up, but I couldnât find the source. The cave has been there for generations. Itâs a part of our history-our traditions, even!â
âI know that,â I replied. âBut itâs also a part of our pain and division. We need to let it go if weâre going to move forward from here. Are you with me?â
The pack members exchanged looks, and then most started to nod their heads. Shawn looked particularly grim, and I wished Kora wasnât in her Luna lessons so I could gauge her reaction to my plan.
In the end, even though weâd talked, Iâd decided there was no point in delaying change to keep the minority

As we headed to the traitorsâ cave, I felt the adrenaline pumping through my veins. This was a big moment for our pack, and I wasnât sure how it would turn out in the end. Would the opposition accept it without complaint?
âLetâs do this,â I said, then we started dismantling it, taking out the bunk beds and other furniture, tearing down the walls that had been built on the inside of the cave, bringing it back to the way nature had intended, one board. at a time.. It was a tough job, but I felt satisfied after I began removing each dilapidated piece. I was destroying something that had caused so much pain and division in our pack, and it felt good.
âAlpha, do you need any help?â Shawn asked as he approached me, looking more amused than Iâd have liked, considering I was doing this for him and people like him.
âSure,â I replied. âThe more, the merrier.â
As we worked, some of the other pack members came to help. They didnât say much, but their actions spoke volumes. They were ready for a change, too. Together, we tore down the cave, and when we were done, I was tempted to let out a howl of triumph.
It was a small victory-but a step in the right direction..
Kora was going to be thrilled.
As the sun set that evening, I found myself standing at the edge of our territory, looking out over the vast expanse
of wilderness. It was a peaceful moment, and I felt a sense of pride. Slowly but surely, Kora and I would bring our pack out of the Dark Ages. We didnât need something like the traitorsâ cave anymore.
âAlpha, may I speak with you?â a voice interrupted my thoughts.
I turned to see Eileen approaching me. Kora had been thrilled to croon about how she had people supporting her, too, when weâd bickered one morning about where to start making changes to our pack. Eileenâs name had come up. The young woman seemed timid and shy, but the determination in her eyes caught my attention.
âOf course,â I replied, gesturing for her to come closer.
âI just wanted to thank you for everything youâve done for our pack,â she said, her voice barely above a whisper. âI used to be afraid to speak up or stand up for myself, but now I feel like I have a voice. I feel like I matter and my mate does too.â
I smiled at her, feeling a warmth spread through me..
âYou do matter,â I said. âEvery member of this pack matters. Weâre all in this together.â
She nodded, a small smile spreading across her face. âI know. And I just wanted you to know that I appreciate everything youâve done for us.â
We stood there silently for a moment, watching as the last rays of sunlight disappeared over the h orizon. It was a moment of connection and understanding, and it reminded me of why I had become an Alpha in the first place. It wasnât just about power or prestige. It was about leading and protecting my pack and ensuring each member had a voice.
As the night settled in, I returned to the pack house. I could hear the gentle snoring of the members as I walked the halls back to my own room, and I felt a sense of contentment wash over me.
However, my contentment was short-lived when I opened the door to find Shawn standing in the middle of my room, a grim expression on his face.
âWe need to talk,â he said, his voice low and serious.
I knew what this was about. I had a feeling that tearing down the traitorsâ cave wouldnât sit well with everyone, but I hadnât expected the backlash to come so soon.
âWhatâs going on?â I asked, trying to keep my voice calm.
âItâs about the pack, Shawn said, eyes locking onto mine. âSome of the members arenât happy about what happened today. They think youâre trying to change things too quickly, and theyâre worried about whatâs next.â
I sighed, rubbing my temples. âI knew there would be resistance, but we canât keep living in the past. We have to make changes if weâre going to survive and thrive as a pack.â
âI know that, but not everyone sees it that way,â Shawn said, his tone a mix of frustration and concern. âSome of the more traditional members are worried that youâre leading us down a dangerous path.â
âIâm not leading anyone down a dangerous path,â I snapped, annoyed by the pushback on something so basic. âIâm doing whatâs best for the pack.â
Shawn nodded, but I could see the worry etched on his face. He knew just as well as I did that some members of the pack would be harder to convince than others. More than that, I was surprised he was the one relaying the whispers to me and not Eddie, my Beta.
As he left my room, I couldnât help but feel a sense of unease settle over me. The pack was divided, and I wasnât sure how to bridge the gap. I knew I had to tread carefully, but at the same time, I couldnât let the pack fall apart.
I lay down on my bed, collapsing around me.
