Book 2 Chapter 16

The Alpha's Slave Mate

Daphne's Point of View

"Do you want to throw a ball, or do you want to have more of a feast?” Scarlett jumps in and gets

directly to the point.

“I have never held a ball before, so I have no idea where to even start with all of that.” I think that

Scarlett can tell that I am feeling very overwhelmed.

“Daphne forget what everyone else in history has done. You are the Luna of this pack, so it all boils

down to what you want to do. If you want to have a ball, then we will throw a ball. If you want to

have a feast, we will throw a fricking feast. If you want to have a country style hoe down, then we

will figure out a way to make that happen.” Scarlett is getting animated, and I can tell that she is

trying to make me calmer.

“I have no idea what a country style hoe down is.” I inform both of them.

Scarlett cannot suppress the peel of laughter that explodes out of her. “It is basically a country

dance, usually accompanied by barbecue food, and it is not as flashy as a ball.” She quickly explains

after she is done laughing at me.

"Oh, or we can do a luau or a masquerade type thing.” Hannah quickly pops in.

“Those murder mystery type dinners are becoming really popular.” Scarlett quickly interjects. They

rattle off a few more options and my head is simply spinning.

Finally, I realize that I must stop them from going completely crazy with everything. “Guys hold up

for just a moment. Alright to start off with there are not going to be that many people so I highly

doubt that we need anything big and fancy. So, I think we can safely take a ball, dance or feast off

the table. I have no idea what a murder mystery dinner is, but I do not think Caleb wants anyone to

die at this gathering.” Both girls double over in laughter while I am dumbfounded as to what they

have found funny. Scarlett seemed to be gaining control over herself, but one glance at me and she

is laughing again.

"Oh, my goddess Luna no one actually dies at those.” Hannah says while gasping for breath while

laughing. “It is like the game Clue, basically someone pretends that they have been murdered and

the guests try to figure out who did it, why, and with what weapon. It is like a play, but everyone at

the dinner is the actors.”

The idea seems fun and exciting but then I remember the actual guest list. “The only problem I see

with that is Luna Mellissa is going to be here, and at one point I am pretty sure that she actually

wanted me dead.” My words bring any remaining giggling to a screeching halt. Scarlett seriously

considers what I have said.

"How are you dealing with that whole fiasco?” She does not hesitate to ask me, with concern lacing

her voice.

“I want to be ok with the whole thing I really do. I mean we all decided that Noah would make a

decent Alpha as long as he was watched carefully, and from what I understand he has been doing a

good job of things. I never thought about having to face Melissa or Heather again.” I answer her as

honestly as I possibly can. I know that Scarlett and Hannah are loyal to Caleb and I so I can drop my

walls around them and just be Daphne the girl for a moment, instead of the Luna. Hannah quickly

comes across the bar and wraps me in a hug.

“I know that it is going to be difficult for you to face them. The silver lining is that you are doing so

much better than they ever thought that you would. I mean you are mated to Alpha Caleb for

goddess's sake.” Scarlett says in a matter-of-fact voice.

“I know that you are right, but lately I feel like I am putting my foot in my mouth every time I open

it.” 1 do not want to pretend that I have it all together, especially when I feel like I am falling apart.

“Everyone, including Lunas make mistakes. Keep your head up I know that you will fix everything

between you and Caleb soon. It just may take some time for him to forgive you.” Scarlett tells me

affectionately.

"What is going on with you and Caleb?” For a moment we had both forgotten that Hannah was in

the room.

“They are having their first lovers spat, nothing to worry about.” Scarlett quickly reassures her.

Hannah gives her an oh face and then quickly brushes it off. I shoot Scarlett a quick thank you smile.

"What if we had just an intimate dinner for the Alphas and Lunas that are visiting? Something that is

small but catered, semi casual, and will hopefully put everyone in good spirits.” I rush to ask.

“That would be perfectly fine, but I highly suggest that you extend the invitations to include the

Betas and family that may travel with the visiting Alphas.” Hannah throws into the mix. I look to

Scarlett for confirmation that this would be acceptable.

“I do not see a problem with this at all. In fact, it sounds perfect for their first night. May I suggest

booking the day spa nearby for the morning after for the Lunas to occupy them while the men are

meeting?” Scarlett is now on board with my smaller more intimate thinking.

“I think that would be wonderful. Everyone loves pampering and I know that as Lunas we tend to

put ourselves last, so I fully agree. Although I do expect both you and Hannah to be there as well.”

Both women look at me, questioning my judgement on this.

“Well, you said that there maybe families that have joined the Alphas for travel. Therefore, if there

are Beta's wives there, or Alpha’s daughters then I should be expected to have my family there as

well, right?” The truth is that I do not want to face any of these women alone, except maybe Lola.

Alma was always nice, but I do not really know her, and so it is still slightly uncomfortable.

To my relief both Scarlett and Hannah quickly agree with me. “I would not mind having something

slightly more extravagant towards the end of their stay here. I liked the country dance thing, or the

luau. Of those two which one do you guys think would work best?”

“It is still hot outside so personally I think the Luau thing would work best. Plus, we could set up a

few water activities and make it really fun for all of our pack members.” I had a sneaking suspicion

that Hannah wanted the luau so that she could showcase her new bikini. She did make good points

though about involving everyone.

“The only problem I see with that is finding the right supplies or decorations in time.” Scarlett

quickly pipes up. I had not thought of the decorations when I brought up the idea, crap just when

we were on a roll. “Actually, we would not need too much to throw together a little end of

summertime bash. We do not necessarily have to have a theme other than that. Then we can use

Hannah's idea on the slip and slides. It will get the pack members involved. Everyone can bring a

covered dish, so food would be covered, and we can get a few of the younger guys to rig up a

playlist and speakers so there can be dancing too.” Scarlett is so good at this Luna thing, sometimes

I wonder if she misses it.

"Ok so does that cover everything then? Hannah, can you get the word out and talk to some of the

guys about the playlist?” I was hoping that they would confirm that we were good. I was already

stressed to the max and trying to figure out how I was going to get through all of this when Caleb

and I were not in a good place. Thankfully both Scarlett and Hannah agreed that we should be good

to go with the plan we have made.

Once again Scarlett kind of jumped into the leadership role. She is going to book the spa for the

ladies and start getting the community involved in the summer bash dance. She is convinced that

we can wrangle up a few more games and seems genuinely excited about the food. Hannah is

going to call the catering company and get the first night's dinner catered in, and then she is going

to find a few guys that she knows are good with tech. I am going to let Caleb know what I have

planned, and then I am going to order in a few decorations. I have also secretly decided to get a few

small gifts for the visiting Lunas as well.

Scarlett announcing that she needs to get back to work pulls me out of my thoughts. Hannah chirps

up that she needs to get to training as well. I hug and thank them both as they gather up their

things and head out in opposite directions.

Getting the events in order for the gathering is at least one stress off of my shoulders. I am still

worried sick about Caleb and I but I am determined to find a way to fix us. Thinking of him brings a

pang to my heart but I know that we will find our way back. I just have to have faith.
