Book 2 Chapter 31

The Alpha's Slave Mate

Caleb's Point of View

I knew that the Moon Goddess had been smiling on me, because just as we took a break, I received

word from our border patrol that the women were headed back to the pack house. Daphne is

always able to settle the anger within in. She calms the beast when he roars out of control.

I waited rather impatiently by the front door until the vehicle she is in pulls up. I watch as her and

the other women get out chattering excitedly about the pampering that they had just received. Just

seeing my beautiful mate step from the car has a calming effect on me. As soon as she entered the

door I reach out and grab her hand pulling her to me in a big hug.

She giggles a little as I wrap her even tighter into my body. “I missed you too baby.” She says into

my chest.

“I just needed to feel you next to me for a few moments.” I say softly into her hair.

“Is the meeting not going well?” She asks me innocently.

“It is frustrating, but it is progressing. How was the spa?” I am genuinely curious if she enjoyed her

time getting pampered.

“It was good. The massage therapist worked wonders on my back, and I think that everyone else

had a good time as well. Overall, I think it was a good choice for the Lunas. We have the catering

company until tomorrow afternoon so there should be lunch that has been prepared.” I am so

proud of my mate. Not only because she has prepared everything beautifully, but also because she

also thought of us males too.

“Thank you, my love, for everything you have done. I do not say this often enough, but you are an

amazing Luna, and I am blessed that you are in my life.” My words ring of truth, and I am pleased to

see a light blush spread upon her cheeks

“Unfortunately, my love I do need to get back to negotiations soon. I am going to head to the

kitchen and grab a quick sandwich. Please grab at least something to eat, even if it is light.” I remind

her gently.

“I planned on it. Some of the ladies wanted to take a rest after we went to the spa. I asked the

catering company to set up some tables in the courtyard, and I figured we could have a wonderful

candlelit dinner out there. Then we have the summer end bash tomorrow night.” I was grateful that

my Luna had thought of everything. With a quick peck we both walked to the kitchen. I watched as

Daphne got caught up eating a few pieces of fruit and chatting with the girls. I quickly grab a

premade sandwich, and an apple before heading back to the den

It only took a few moments before the men were settled around the table. “Now that we have had a

quick break hopefully everyone has been able to look over their treaties, and we can move forward

with getting them signed.” Now that I knew that Daphne was back, I was hoping to get a few

minutes of her time.

"Actually, I have an issue with mine.” Of course, Alpha Noah would find something to complain

about.

"What is your issue, Noah.” Alpha Marcus was getting as anxious as I was.

“Ah Marcus I am glad that it was you that spoke up. I currently only have alliances with the Mission

pack and the Blue Mountain pack. I would like to also have an alliance with your pack, as well as

Alpha Coles, and Axles packs as well.” He sat back with a smug smile upon his face.

“Let me get this straight, you want to propose a treaty with nearly every pack in Eastern Oregon?”

Marcus asked him in disbelief.

"Yes, I do. Since Caleb insist on moving closer to my territory, I want to ensure that should he make

a move against my pack that the others will step in and help defend the area.” Noah thought that

he was going to get everyone to rally behind his demands.

“I am sorry Alpha Noah, but I am going to be unable to sign a formal treaty with your pack. You

simply cannot offer my pack anything of value that would want us to sign with you.” Alpha Cole

informed him.

“I am also going to have to decline your offer, Noah. Even though I am a young Alpha as Cole

already stated you cannot offer anything to my pack that would make us want to sign with you. Not

only that but our allegiance stand with Alpha Caleb. Should he ever make a move on your pack we

trust that it would be for a good reason. He does not have a history of acting rashly, or with malice.”

I was once again struck with how wise Alpha Axle was beyond his years.

"So essentially you all would agree with him if he chose to make a move against me?” He asked the

table. Unanimously heads nodded around the table.

“Enough of this nonsense Noah. Caleb has already said that if he wanted to take over your pack, he

would have done it when they attacked. My bones are getting stiff sitting here listening to your

nonsense. Now we should discuss the Mabon ball. If I correctly understand Caleb your pack is

hosting the ball this year is that correct?” Alpha Jerome has grown weary of Noah's grumbling, so

he launched into the next matter.

“If no one else is willing to sign a treaty with me than I will not renew my current alliances.” Noah

stood up and demanded.

"ENOUGH NOAH." This time there was no calming the beast within me. “Perhaps you should reread

the original contract you signed when you were placed in charge of the Sliver Moon pack. While

you may be acting Alpha, should at any time I deem that you are doing a job unworthy of ruling

that I have every right to take the pack over. By our own law you never challenged me for the pack,

it was generously gifted to you.” None of the other Alphas knew of the original arrangement except

Marcus. I had not wanted to embarrass him, but after his tantrum I had no other choice but to call

him out on his crap. I watched him sink back into his chair as the realization dawned on him that he

has no real power.

I turned when I heard chuckling and seen that Alpha Axle could no longer keep up his professional

demeanor. “Like Alpha Jerome stated earlier we need to move onto other matters.” Marcus

interjected.

"Yes, it is my packs turn to host the Mabon ball this year. Daphne has already started the

preparations for it. You will all be receiving invitations shortly.” After the announcement we were

able to easily wrap up any remaining business. Most of it was rather trivial and easily handled. Noah

was displeased, but we assumed that he would get over it eventually. Soon we decided to break the

meeting so that we may get ready for dinner.

I could not wait to hold onto Daphne for a few moments. I knew that we would get a few moments

together before dinner was ready.
