Chapter 49
Rejected Slave To The Alpha
Chapter 49.
Nellyâs POV.
We walked down the hallway, our laughter dying down as we grew further and further from Aishaâs room.
âThat was close,â Aisha said, her voice still shaking slightly. âToo close.â
âHonestly,â | replied, wiping the sweat from my brow.
ThWe finally reached Aishaâs room and closed the door behind us.
âAny progress?â Aisha asked, her eyes full of hope.
âNo,â | said, my voice heavy with disappointment: âIâm sorry.â
âIt's okay,â Aisha said, giving me a reassuring smile. âWe'll figure this out.â
I sank onto the bed, staring up at the ceiling. | absently twisted a strand of around my finger, trying to make sense of what had just happened.
my hair âMaybe we should try to get hold of her diary,â | said, my voice quiet.
âWhy didnât you grab it when you had the chance?â Aisha asked, sitting next to me on the bed.
âIt was locked,â | explained, my frustration evident. âIl was about to look for the key, but before | could even touch it, she burst into the room.â
â| have an idea,â | said, turning to Aisha.
âWhat is it?â she asked, eager to hear my plan.
âWell, | was thinking,â | began, âyou could help me ask Harry. Heâs been here with them for a long time, so he must know something about whatâs going on.â
Aisha hesitated, a look of doubt crossing her face. âI donât know, Nelly. We're not exactly on the best terms right now.â
| frowned, confused. âWhy not?â
âWe had a bit of a falling out,â she said, her voice tinged.
âPlease Aisha, you will have to put your fight aside for me. | canât sleep at night any longer. The fear that Emily might be my sister is eating me up,â | muttered, my voice Chapter 491 quivering. âHarry is our only hope.â | added.
Aishaâs eyes softened, and she said nothing for a moment, as if searching for the right. words. Finally, she let out a long sigh and reached out to place a hand on my shoulder.
âOkay,â she said, her voice gentle. âWe'll do it your way. We'll put our differences aside and figure this out. Iâm here for you, regardless of what.â
| felt a weight lift from my shoulders as relief washed over me. âThank you,â | whispered.
| stood up and straightened my dress. âLetâs go,â | said, my resolve strengthening with every word.
âWhere?â Aisha asked, a look of uncertainty on her face.
âTo Harry's place,â | replied, my voice firm.
âNow?â she asked, chewing her lip nervously.
âWe donât have time to waste,â | said, my eyes boring into hers.
Aisha seemed to consider this for a moment, then stood up and nodded. âOkay. Let's go.â
We stood outside Harryâs door, the tension between us almost palpable. | took a deep breath and knocked on the door. There was a long pause, then the door swung open.
âOh, Nelly,â Harry said, his face lighting up at the sight of me. But then his gaze landed. on Aisha, and his smile tightened.
âCome in,â he said, stepping aside to let us in.
As we entered the room, | noticed Alpha Kex sitting on the sofa, his brow furrowed with worry. When he saw me, his eyes narrowed, and his face darkened with anger.
âWhat are you doing here?â he demanded, his voice low and menacing.
â|-I-I,â | stammered, but Aisha cut me off.
âShe's here to settle the fight | had with Harry,â she said, her voice trembling with nerves.
The room went silent, the tension thick and suffocating. Alpha Kex stood up and slowly approached us, his gaze fixed on me.
My throat felt dry, and my heart pounded in my chest. Why was Alpha Kex angry with me? The last time we spoke, we were on good terms. Now he was glaring at me with so 80%
Chapter 49 much hostility, it was difficult to breathe.
| felt a wave of relief when he turned away and walked out of the room, but it was short-lived. | let out a breath | didnât realize I'd been holding.
âWhy is he so angry?â | asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Harry sighed, his expression pained. âItâs a personal issue. He'll come around,â he said, but | could tell he was just trying to comfort me.
âIs it about me?â | asked, my heart sinking.
âNot exactly,â Harry said, averting his gaze. âIt has to do with his late beta, Emily, and his mate.
âOh.â | said, curious to know what is it about.
The mention of Alpha Kexâs late beta hit me like a punch to the gut.
âWas the late beta from this pack? | mean, does his parents live in this pack?â | asked.
â| donât know,â Harry said, his voice sounding uncertain. âI wasnât born here, so | donât know much about him.â
The realization that the one person | thought could give me answers was just as clueless as | was left me feeling cold and empty.
How was | supposed to find out about Emily and the late beta if no one seemed to know anything about them?
Harry looked at me, his eyes searching my face for any sign of what was on my mind.
âIs something the matter?â he asked, his voice soft and gentle.
| glanced at Aisha, unsure if | could confide in her. But she shook her head, clearly trying to tell me not to say anything âNo, nothingâs wrong. | lied, forcing a smile. âIâm just curious to know more about Emily, thatâs all.â
He chuckled. âThereâs nothing special about her, sheâs just who she is. She couldn't possibly like you because sheâs always loved Alpha Kex.â
âOh, | see,â | said, feigning nonchalance.
âYes, apart from that, sheâs a nice girl,â Harry said, and Aisha snorted.
âNice, my footâ the exclaimed, and | couldnât help but laugh. Aisha was always so blunt and honest, it was one of the things |
loved about her.

Harry just stared at Aisha, his expression stony and unreadable. The silence was thick. and tense, and | knew | had to do something to break it.
âWell, anyway.â | began, clearing my throat. âI would love for the two of you to talk out your differences.â Aisha shot me a withering look, but | continued. âAnd Aisha, my friend, may be difficult at times, but sheâs one of the nicest people | know.â
Aisha rolled her eyes, but a tiny smile played on her lips. âYou act like you know me well, madam.â
â| do, and you know that,â | said, blowing her a kiss.
She picked up a pillow and tossed it at me, but | dodged it easily, laughing. | picked up the pillow and threw it back, but to my surprise, Harry caught it.
âOh, her lover saved her!â | teased them, winking at Aisha. She stuck her tongue out at me, and we all burst into laughter.
| left them, feeling like | had defused a bomb. | walked to my room, my mind racing. Why was it so difficult to get to the truth?
