At the crack of dawn, as the first sunlight shone into the bedroom of Dustmeadow Mansion, Cassandra was woken up by the alarm. She stretched but felt warm skin, which startled her and made her fling her eyes open.
What came into her view was Orlandoâs handsome countenance. He was still asleep with his eyes closed while she was leaning against his chest as his arm circled her waist.
Cassandra was stunned. Before she could react, he asked in a deep, raspy, and fairly amused voice, âYouâre
awake?â
âWhy⦠Why havenât you gotten up yet?â she inquired.
âI couldnât bear to wake you up since you were sleeping so well,â he said.
âWhat does it have to do with me?â She was puzzled.
He answered, âWhat do you think? Youâre holding me so tight that I canât get your hands offâ
Orlando stared intently at Cassandra, who was in his arms. His warm breath fanning her cheeks caused her face
to redden by the second as if the air had become thinner.
Orlandoâs smile deepened, and his voice also turned exceptionally husky. âWhat? Are you going to throw me away now that youâre done using me?â
âWhat nonsense are you saying? Unhand me.â She pushed hard, but his muscular chest was as hard as a rock,
rendering the attempt futile.
C
ly, it made him hug her even tighter.
Cassandra looked at him in a daze, pursing her lips lightly while at a loss.
Unbeknownst to her, she resembled a frightened fawn at present, and the more she looked like this, the more he
wanted to tease her.
Something seemed to dawn on Orlando out of the blue.
He knitted his brows and ordered lowly, âCassandra, do not casually get with men after the divorce, and do not believe their acts of goodwill to you. All of them are illâintentioned.â
This stunned Cassandra but she didnât say anything.

âAnswer me, Cassandra. Tell me you will listen,â Orlando demanded sternly.
âWhat if I donât?â she asked.
âYou have to. Iâm not joking with you,â he stated.

Cassandra found this ridiculous. âOrlando, if an employee of your company resigned, are you also going to meddle with what their next job is?â
âThatâs different,â he said.
She frowned, âHow so? Itâs just a different metaphor, but it means the same thing.â
âCassandra, this isnât a discussion. You must listen no matter what, you hear me?â Orlando said.
âNo,â she objected.
âTry disagreeing again.â He seemed to be furious as his face fell.
Yet, Cassandraâs stubbornness was also aroused. She looked up, overlooking how close they were to each other, and challenged. âWhat? Are you gonna hit me if I do?â
He looked down at her red lips with slightly narrowed eyes, saying meaningfully, âIâll kiss you if you still disagree.â
Cassandra was taken aback, musing, âDoes he know what heâs saying?â
It was the first time Orlando had expressed something like that so explicitly.
Cassandra felt especially awkward and uneasy, but she was still in his embrace and didnât dare to move.
âYou canât do that,â she replied, feeling jittery.
âWhy not? Weâre still married, so itâs only natural for us to do this.â He kept his gaze fixed on her. âIf you really donât want to do it, you can promise me youâll listen. But if you keep disagreeing, I may take it as that you actually want me to kiss you.â
âNo, I donât,â she denied.
âOh? Really? Then, why wonât you promise me?â Orlando quizzed.
âThatâs my business. Why should I still do as you say after weâre divorced?â she questioned.

âI say that for your own good,â he said.
âBut I donât need it,â she replied.

âHe doesnât know what I want at all and yet thinks heâs doing this for my own good, thought Cassandra, who
didnât need his unsolicited advice.
But Orlando was a man of his word, so he immediately rolled over and pinned her down.
Cassandra raised her hands and tried to push him away but to no avail. Instead, she heard him say,
the more you resist men at this time, the more itâll excite them.â
Helplessness washed over her. âWhat exactly do you want?â
âCassandra,
The next second, he lowered his head and closed the distance between them, letting the tip of their noses touch. She then felt his warm hand sliding past her waist.
