Ex-Husband’s Love Dilemma by Jean Oscar ( Cassandra Jackson ) Chapter 28
Ex-Husband’s Love Dilemma
Chapter 28
Orlando spoke grandiosely, but Cassandra couldnât help blushing. Even though they had seen each otherâs bodies, it still felt awkward when he asked directly for her help. with the shower.
She withdrew her hand forcefully and lowered her head, wanting to quickly flee the scene. âHurry up and take a shower. Iâm going downstairs to have someone wash the bowl.â
Orlando, however, refused to release his grip. Instead, he asked in a low voice, âCassandra, are you shy?â
Cassandra naturally wouldnât admit it. She looked up and met his gaze before she asked earnestly, âDo you really need me to help?â
âWeâre husband and wife. Isnât this normal?â Orlando remarked.
âOkay, then,â said Cassandra as she turned to face him and began unbuttoning his shirt. Her cold fingernails touched his skin inadvertently. The original bland atmosphere was tinged with a strange feeling.
Orlando stood there stiffly. Cassandra looked ahead, and her expression remained
unchanged.
It wasnât until she finished unbuttoning the shirt that he abruptly reached out to stop her. In a low voice, he said, âIâll do this myself. You can go out.â
Cassandra hesitated for a moment before withdrawing her hand. Then she walked out of the bathroom.
In fact, she knew Orlandoâs habits and what tricks would make him submit.
After leaving the bathroom, she raised her hand and patted her face. Then she came back to her senses and went downstairs.
After handing the housekeeper the bowl, she walked out of the living room and made a phone call.
The call was answered, and a female voice came from the other end. âCassandra? Why are you calling me at this hour?â
âIâd like to ask you something about the baby,â Cassandra briefly explained her situation and then asked, âWill there be any issues?â

If youâre worried, come to the hospital in the next few days, and Iâll do an examination If youâve decided to keep the baby, youâll also need a proper prenatal checkâup,â that person suggested.
âOkay, Iâll let you know after I arrange my schedule. Please make the arrangement for me. As I mentioned before, I donât want anyone to know for now,â Cassandra reminded.
That person assured her, âDonât worry. Iâll take care of it.â
âThanks
for your help,â said Cassandra.
âWhy are you being so polite to me? Letâs talk about the rest when we meet,â said the other person.
âYeah, sure. Goodbye. Cassandra hung up the phone and deleted the call history before heading upstairs.
Orlando had done showering, and Cassandra handed him a glass of warm water. âDrink more water and rest early. Stop looking at anything related to work tonight, okay?â
He stared at her.
It felt like they were back to the time before they brought up the divorce. She had always been patient and attentive and would never get tired of taking care of him.
Suddenly, an incredulous thought appeared in his mind.
Orlandoâs gaze grew deeper. It was as unfathomable as the deep pool.

It was late at night, and the bedroom was shrouded in silence. The two, who were fast asleep, were awakened abruptly by a ringtone coming from Orlandoâs phone.
He picked up the phone. âHello?â
âLandy, can you come over? Someone knocked on the door just now, and Iâm terrified. Could it be those who harmed me know that Iâve regained consciousness? Are they going to kill me?â Rebeccaâs voice sounded exceptionally clear in the quiet bedroom.
Cassandra also opened her eyes.
Orlando had already got up and was about to get out of bed. Cassandra asked, âAre you going to the hospital?â

He turned and looked at her on the bed without replying. Instead, he said to Rebecca, âWhereâs your care assistant? Have the care assistant keep you company, okay?â
âLandy, Iâm really scared. Iâm afraid that theyâll do the same thing as they did to me a year ago. I truly feel that theyâre watching me. I-â Rebecca exclaimed.
âRebecca? Rebecca?â The call disconnected, and Orlandoâs expression grew solemn. He looked at Cassandra and said indifferently, âRebeccaâs got into trouble. I need to go to the hospital now. You can go back to sleep.â
âDo you have to go, Orlando? Didnât you say your heart doesnât feel well? If youâre not feeling well, you should rest properly. What are you doing now?â Cassandra spoke extremely fast, wearing an apathetic expression.
Orlando, however, was already getting dressed. âThere might be someone monitoring Rebecca at the hospital. I canât let anything happen to her again, so I have to go.â
âYou must go, right?â Cassandra asked.
âYes.â Orlandoâs response was resolute.
Cassandra merely looked at him nonchalantly without a hint of emotion in her gaze. âAll right, drive safely. Iâll go back to sleep.â
After saying that, she didnât even spare him another glance. She lay down again and covered herself with the quilt before closing her eyes.
Her nonchalant attitude made Orlando frown. An inexplicable confusion crept up within him like a chill.
He didnât delve deeper but walked out of the bedroom after getting changed.
When she heard the sound of the door closing, Cassandra opened her eyes instantly. Coldness filled her eyes, and her heart turned icy as though it had been soaked in cold.
water.
Just because Rebecca told him that sheâs afraid, he doesnât care that he isnât feeling well. What should I be expecting then? Iâve failed miserably,â Cassandra thought.
His brief gentleness wasnât a sign that he was still longing for her. It was simply because she was still Orlandoâs wife, the Quinn familyâs daughterâinâlaw at that moment.
There was no other reason,
Cassandra reassured herself repeatedly, her hand on her lower abdomen. She felt sorry

yet guilty. âBaby, Iâm sorry, but I swear Iâll love you with all my might.â

The next morning, Cassandra went downstairs and was surprised to find Orlando having breakfast in the dining room.
Cassandra was a bit surprised and thought, âWhen did he return? Did he return just for breakfast?â
However, she didnât ask him but walked over, sat on her seat, and started eating breakfast.
The breakfast included oatmeal, salad, toast, baguette, and hardâboiled eggs.
She avoided eating most of them, but she felt uncomfortable because of the slightly bland taste.
Enduring the discomfort, she quickly finished the oatmeal and prepared to leave. However, Orlando asked, âWhy are you eating so fast? Have an egg and some of these pastries.â
âIâm full. Iâm not eating anymore,â she replied casually and was ready to leave.
âCassandra, are you angry?â he asked in a deep voice as he stared at her.
She was slightly taken aback and simply replied, âOf course not. Why would you ask that?â
âSince youâre not angry, just sit down and eat more. Iâll send you to the company later,â Orlando said.
Orlando seemed firm. He already picked up the fork and placed the food on her plate. He even peeled the egg before he handed it to her.
Cassandra didnât reach out her hands, but he continued to hand her the food.
This lasted more than ten seconds until she reluctantly took them.
Cassandra was almost forcing herself to swallow the food. Before she could finish her breakfast, she already went to the bathroom and threw up. She even vomited the oatmeal she had before.
Orlando noticed her pale face and asked, âWhatâs wrong with you? You look unwell these days.â

Shaking her head, she replied, âNothing, just tired. Iâll be fine after a good rest.
Although he wasnât entirely convinced, he didnât question further.
Later, they both reached the company and started their busy day at work.
At noon, Cassandra wrapped up work early and headed to the hospital.
Peter still hadnât regained consciousness. It had been two days.
Cassandra was
genuinely concerned. Despite the doctorâs reassurance, she was worried that Peter was still unconscious.
However, Gabriela offered a different perspective, saying, âCassie, let me be honest with you. Peterâs afraid that youâre divorcing Orlando. If you and Orlando can live happily together, Iâm sure heâll wake up soon.â
Cassandra could only bite her lip in silence. She couldnât provide an answer to that.
Gabriela sensed Cassandraâs hesitation and changed the subject with a smile. âCassie, you havenât had lunch yet, have you? Why donât we grab a meal together?â
âOkay.â Cassandra nodded.
Gabriela continued, âGive Orlando a call to join us. He probably has nothing much to do at the moment and can be our driver.â She gestured for Cassandra to call Orlando, and Cassandra could only do as told because of her situation.
After the call connected, Cassandra asked, âOrlando, Mom suggested having lunch together. Can you pick us up from the hospital?â
âNow? Iâm busy currently. Why donât you go with Mom?â His voice was low.
Cassandra told Gabriela, and the latter didnât press further. Only then did she reply, âOkay.â
âWell, enjoy your meal with Mom,â said Orlando.
Just as Orlando finished speaking, a sharp female voice gradually sounded. âLandy, shall we go for steak?â
Cassandra heard it clearly.
It was Rebecca.
She narrowed her eyes and ended the call before Orlando could respond.
Her face stiffened. Gabriela asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
