Ex-Husband’s Love Dilemma
Chapter 47
âIâm here with you. I wonât disturb you. Iâll stay quiet and do nothing,â he replied.
He reached out to fix a few strands of hair on her cheek, but before his fingertips could reach her face, she dodged. His hand froze in midâair.
Her complexion was pallid, her lips lacking color, and her eyes incredibly faitit.
Orlando clenched his hands tightly and then let them hang by his sides. He elevated the bed for her while holding a bowl of oatmeal, saying. âIl feed you. Have something, okay?â
It was oatmeal, lightly salted to enhance the flavor, as she couldnât consume anything else at the moment.
However, Cassandra refused, stating, âI donât want to eat.â
âWhat do you want to eat? Iâll have someone prepare it,â Orlando offered.
âI donât want to eat anything. Can you leave now?â she replied, her tone resolute.
âCassandra. I ignored your wishes last night. I promise it wonât happen again, okay?â He lowered his tone, speaking in a
much softer voice.
âSo, you resort to physical punishment and then try to make amends with a kind gesture? Orlando, do you realize you almost..
Her emotions were intense, but thoughts of Baby made her halt midâsentence.
Yet, as she reflected on the previous night, she couldnât restrain herself. âI asked him to stop, but he didnât give me a chance. If Baby was harmed because of this, I would hate him and myself even more, she silently grumbled.
Orlando didnât set down the bowl. In a low and hoarse voice, he stated, âIâm sorry. You can punish me however you want, but. right now, you must eat. Otherwise, how can you recover?â
âDonât worry. I can eat it myself.â She turned away, leaving him with her back.
Why does he act so intimately toward me when weâre on the verge of divorce? Why is he taking care of me like at considerate husband? What does he want?â she pondered, wondering what kind of person Orlando was.
The more Cassandra dwelled on the matter, the more her irritation grew.
Subsequently, she chose to ignore Orlando, remaining silent no matter what he did or said.
The incident of Cassandraâs hospitalization in the middle of the night naturally reached the Quinn manor, prompting Peter and Gabriela to pay a visit. Seeing her visibly thinner appearance, they felt heartbroken, and, of course, they sternly reprimanded Orlando.
Peter expressed, âCassie, get well quickly. Once you recover, Iâll personally accompany you to divorce him. After the divorce, you can move back to the Quinn manor to live with us. Youâll be my granddaughter from now on. Youâre so beautiful, plenty of talented young men will be eager to date you. Weâll carefully choose among them when the time comes.â
Peterâs comfort brought a smile to Cassandraâs face. However, in just one night, her once beautiful complexion had noticeably withered, a sight that evoked sympathy.
Orlando, listening silently from the other side, sighed softly in resignation.
Cassandra spent two days in the hospital, during which Orlando took care of her and kept her company. However,

Cassandra remained indifferent, showing little response.
He refrained from pressuring her into anything.
During that time, Rebecca also paid a visit, but Cassandra declined to see her, and eventually. Orlando requested her to
leave.
On the day of her discharge, Peter arranged for a car to pick her up, and Orlando accompanied her back to the Quinn
manor.
Initially thinking it was just a meal, upon arrival, Cassandra realized Peter intended to assist her in choosing a blind date.
Peter had Gabriela compile photos of eligible and wellâmannered young individuals within the upper class society. Handing them to Cassandra one by one, he said, âCassie, take your time. Thereâs no need to rush. If you find someone you like, just let me know.â
Cassandra was uncertain, but she couldnât turn down Peterâs kindness,
As she looked at the photos he presented, one of them featured a clean and handsome young man. She inquired, âGrandpa Peter, this one looks promising. How old is he?â
âWell, this is Sullivan Garrett from the Garrett family. Heâs Dr. Garrettâs son and a typical straightâA student from a prestigious family with a medical background. Heâs one year younger than you,â Peter enthusiastically informed her.
âYounger than me? Thatâs not suitable. Cassandra shook her head.
âDating a younger boyfriend is quite trendy these days. Iâll arrange it right away. Tomorrow, youâll meet Sullivan and have a chat.â Peter promptly decided.
Cassandra pursed her lips and remained silent.
Gabriela also added. âSullivan is a bit younger, but heâs mature, considerate, and, according to his mother, exceptionally attentive and gentle. Cassie, I think youâll like him.â
âSure.â Cassandra nodded.

Gabriela asked again. âDo you want me to accompany you tomorrow?â
âMom, only if itâs convenient for you. Iâm afraid it might be awkward when we meet each other for the first time,â replied Cassandra.
*Okay, Iâll accompany you then.â Gabriela smiled expectantly and continued, âCassie, I want to thank you for letting me experience the feeling of marrying off a daughter.â
Cassandra was stunned, and her cheeks turned red.
The atmosphere was extremely harmonious.

Orlandoâs expression remained cold, his eyes lacking any warmth as he responded, âDad, although Quinn Group currently stands at the pinnacle of the industry, it is under constant scrutiny. If news of my divorce with Cassandra surfaces now, the companyâs stock will plummet. Therefore, Iâve carefully considered it and decided to temporarily postpone the divorce until after the conclusion of the current highâprofile project. We can discuss it then.â He spoke with an unchanged demeanor.
âIs this really what you think?â Frederick calmly inquired.

Of course. As the CEO of Quinn Group, under any circumstances, the interests and reputation of Quinn Group come first. 1 cannot allow my personal matters to compromise its honor and benefits, Orlando squinted slightly and spoke in a low, sincere voice.
âItâs good that you think that way. Since itâs for the sake of Quinn Group, go and explain it to Grandpa and Cassandra to avoid any unnecessary backlash,â Frederick said, giving Orlando a meaningful glance.
The meaningful glances exchanged between Frederick and Orlando carried unspoken implications and understanding. They could sense each otherâs thoughts, yet neither had fully breached that delicate layer of tacit understanding.
Orlando and Frederick headed to the hall, where Peter initiated another round of introductions with Cassandra. He remarked, âCassie, you are beautiful and kindâhearted. A girl as exceptional as you are hard to come by. Those chosen by you are indeed lucky,â
Cassandra felt a bit embarrassed by the exaggeration, but upon seeing Peterâs happiness, she nodded and playfully responded, âGrandpa Peter is right.â
Coincidentally. Orlando overheard the conversation.
He and Cassandra shared a glance, and she instinctively looked away.
Peter noticed Orlandoâs arrival and calmly said, âYouâve come at the right time. Come and take a look at this. Why donât investigate his character for us.â

Orlando examined the photo handed to him expressionlessly. The man in the photo was a wellâknown playboy in upper class society. He picked up the photo and casually tossed it into the trash can. His series of actions stiffened Peterâs face and he appeared on the verge of erupting in anger in the next moment.
