Ex-Husband’s Love Dilemma by Jean Oscar ( Cassandra Jackson ) Chapter 48
Ex-Husband’s Love Dilemma
Chapter 48
Before that, Orlando said in a low voice, âGrandpa, Cassandra, and I havenât divorced yet. By divorcing, not only will I be embarrassed, but the entire Quinn family will also be embarrassed.ââ
âHmph! Are you threatening me?â Peter retorted.
Orlando replied, âIâm just stating the facts to you.â
There was a sense of gravity in his words, accompanied by a slight frown and a touch of resigned indifference.
Peter said lightly, âDonât think you can threaten me with that. It wonât be easy to humiliate the Quinn family.â
âYouâre right, Grandpa. But when thereâs too much gossip, itâll mislead people, especially now that Quinn Groupâs new project has officially started. Many eyes are on this project, and numerous businesses are trying to bring us down. We must be cautious with our words and actions now, donât you think?â Orlandoâs expression was solemn, his gaze serious. He said all those not for himself but for the sake of Quinn Group.
He added, âTo avoid affecting the influence and interests of Quinn Group, Iâll keep things as they are with Cassandra for now. As for the divorce, we can only consider it after this project is completedâ
Frederick chimed in. âDad, I think what Orlando said makes sense. Quinn Group has been at the top for too long. While we may seem tough, itâs not wise to take unnecessary risks.â
Peter fell silent upon hearing that. He then instinctively looked at Cassandra.
Cassandra pursed her lips, her expression serious. She calmly stated, âOrlando and I never publicly announced our marriage. Only a few people know about it. Even if we divorce, it wonât have much impact, right? Besides, I donât want any shares from Quinn Group, so it wonât affect the company at all.â
Her analysis was methodical and rational.
The atmosphere quieted as a hush settled in. Cassandra glanced at Peter before fixing her gaze on Orlando.
Their eyes met. His gaze had a subtle gentleness, and his tone was even calmer. âNo secret can remain hidden forever. Although our divorce hasnât been publicly disclosed, can you guarantee the Jackson family wonât reveal it? Moreover, youâve said yourself that your family disagrees with our divorce. Can you ensure their absolute silence?â
Would the Jackson family be on Cassandraâs side?
The answer was clearly r

Evelyn did not want Cassandra to cut ties with the Quinn family, so she surely wouldnât cooperate with the latter.
Cassandra pursed her lips, and her expression darkened slightly. Suddenly, she could not find the words to refute Orlandoâs
statement.
Orlando continued to look at her, saying. âSince you can

guarantee, I canât take that risk.â
Orlando took out his phone and glanced at it. Then, he looked at everyone and explained in a low voice, âItâs a call from the office. I need to go there now. Cassandra, stay here and keep Grandpa company. Iâll come pick you up later, okay?â
Cassandra appeared solemn and remained silent. Orlando, not waiting for her response, bid farewell to Peter before leaving
Cassandra wondered how she and Orlando had transitioned from considering divorce to not divorcing in just a few.

minutes.
Of course, she didnât think he decided against it because he didnât want to, and certainly not because of her. Orlando did it solely for the sake of the Quinn Group and the Quinn family.
She pursed her lips and kept quicl.
Peter said softly, âCassie, donât take Orlandoâs words to heart. If you insist on divorcing. Iâm on your side. What he said is not important. Your decision matters most to me.â
âThank you, Grandpa Peter, Cassandra replied with a faint smile. Although she wanted to divorce Orlando, it was better for everyone this way. She couldnât allow Quinn Group to take risks, and certainly couldnât wield the Quinn family as if it were hers to command.
She took a silent breath, softly saying, âSince Orlando has made this decision, letâs go along with his wishes.â
Orlando delayed the divorce for Quinn Group, but he might seek one right away due to Rebecca.
She could also use this period to finish her projects.
Cassandra did not wait for Orlando to pick her up at the Quinn manor. Instead, she had the driver take her back to Dustmeadow Mansion.
Peter walked her to the car. Before leaving, he whispered, âCassie, if you have a change of heart about Orlando during the delay in the divorce, and you two decide to continue living together, give him and the Quinn family a chance. On the condition that you donât make it hard for yourself, give the baby a complete family, okay?â
Those words echoed in Cassandraâs mind until she returned to Dustmeadow Mansion.
Deep down, she asked herself, âIf that day comes, will I agree? Will Orlando be willing?â
Her complexion had a slight pallor from two days in the hospital. Despite that, she still looked beautiful.
Cassandra possessed striking features, delicately flawless. Her tanned, soft skin bore no blemishes or acne. Even without makeup, she rivaled any celebrity.
She slipped into soft slippers, ready to ascend the stairs. Just as she reached the staircase, Rebecca abruptly walked over from the hall, approaching her. Her eyes bore into Cassandra as she questioned, âWhereâs Landy? Did you forbid him from meeting me? Cassandra, why would you do this? I almost lost my life for him. How can you snatch him from me!â
Weakened and haunted by the recent hospital stay, Cassandra instinctively shielded her abdomen with both hands, preventing anyone from approaching or touching her.
She looked at Rebecca coldly and responded, âIf you want to find Orlando, just call him. You donât need to tell me whatever youâve done for him. Do you expect me to thank you as his wife?â
âCassandra, weâre both women. I hope you can step back gracefully. You know youâre not the person Landy loves. So, why must you hold onto him so tightly?â asked Rebecca.
Cassandra retorted, âMs. Spencer, I think youâve misunderstood. The one not seeking a divorce now is not me but him. Orlando told Grandpa Peter himself that we wonât be divorcing. If you donât believe it, you can ask him.â
After saying that, Cassandra smiled faintly, glanced at Rebecca, and ascended the
+ stairs.
While the divorce was only temporarily on hold, it wasnât good news for Rebecca.
In actuality, Cassandra didnât hold much of a grudge against Rebecca. It was just typical female rivalry. However, she genuinely disliked the latterâs hypocrisy.

Upon learning that Orlando and Cassandra wouldnât be divorcing, it felt like a heavy blow to Rebecca. She could not believe it so she immediately called Orlando.
Rebecca asked, âLandy, Cassandra said youâre not getting a divorce. This isnât true, right? Sheâs lying to me, isnât she?â
âShe didnât lie to you. We canât divorce for the time being, answered Orlando.
âWhy?â Rebecen got worked up and pressed on. âWhy canât you get a divorce? Did she say something to Mr. Quinn and force
you not to divorce her?â
Orlando replied truthfully, âNo. I proposed it myself.â
His answer sent Rebecca into a spiral. She exclaimed, âLandy, didnât you say you would divorce Cassandra and Why are you changing your mind now? Youâre lying to me, arenât you? Donât you know how much I love you? How could you deceive me?â

me?
âRebecca. Iâm not lying to you. Itâs just that, due to Quinn Groupâs current project, I must maintain my marriage with Cassandra for now,â Orlando stated.
His warm, calm voice held no hint of explanation. He simply stated his intended meaning with indifference.
However, Rebecca could not accept it.
She was agitated as she inquired. âLandy, youâve fallen in love with Cassandra, right? Have you completely forgotten how I almost lost my life because of you? Are you now completely enchanted by Cassandra?â
