Ex-Husband’s Love Dilemma by Jean Oscar ( Cassandra Jackson ) Chapter 53
Ex-Husband’s Love Dilemma
Chapter 53
Those words were directed at Lloyd, who immediately let go once he caught on.
âAlright, I wonât run. My bad. Lloyd uttered with a quirk to his lips.
Cassandra was stunned, her cheeks flushing subconsciously when she realized that Orlando was referring to Lloydâs hand, which was gripping her arm.
Rebecca reacted as well with the stiffening of her face, her formerly indifferent expression turning
sour.
Lloyd narrowed his eyes slightly. âWell, since your wife is here now, I guess thereâs rio need to trouble us anymore?â
Orlando offered no response to his question.
âRebecca. Iâm certain you havenât eaten yet, right? Come on, Iâll accompany you to grab a bite. Besides, you should have some rest. Leave the rest here to Cassandra,â Lloyd added,
At that, Rebecca paused. She subconsciously shifted her gaze to Orlando on the hospital bed, who remained silent.
Is that what he thinks, too?â she mused while pursing her lips and whispering, âIâll stay behind to care for Landy. After all, Iâm the reason heâs injured in the first place. I will feel bad if Cassandra takes my place.â
Rebecca intentionally mentioned Orlando getting injured on her behalf for Cassandraâs sake. It was so sheâd understand that he would sacrifice his life for Rebecca and give up her advances.
Much to her frustration, Cassandra didnât spare her a glance the entire time. However, Rebecca couldnât let her emotions show with Orlando present.
âCassandra, are you mad at me?â Rebecca clenched her fists. Iâm terribly sorry. It was all my fault, so please donât blame Landy. He wouldnât have met a car accident and ended up in such a state if not for me. I would willingly switch places with him and be the one lying here if given the choice. Cassandra, could you please cease your anger? Iâll take care of everything.
I
âAnd how exactly do you plan to do so? Am I supposed to run you over with a car so you become hospitalized like Lloyd, or expect you to bear full responsibility by allowing the Quinn family to exact revenge on you? While you keep claiming that youâre in the wrong, do you have any clue in what way exactly? You should have kept your mouth shut If you were truly penitent. Nonetheless, I can help if youâre genuinely guiltâridden by instructing someone to inflict wounds all over your body. Iâm sure that would free you of your guilt, right?â Cassandraâs words were harsh, her eyes shards of ice as they glared at Rebecca.
The whole sick ward immediately fell silent becoy of that.
Rebecca was so aggrieved that her eyes turned red, weling with tears that threatened to fall.
She opened her mouth to speak, but Cassandra had already looked away from her in distaste. Thus, Rebecca could only train her gaze on Orlando and whisper, âLandy, Iâ¦â
âLetâs go, Rebecca. Come, accompany me while I get some food. Youâve been busy all day.â Lloyd cut Rebecca off as he stepped forward and pulled her arm, leading her out.
The atmosphere in the ward resumed peacefulness once the door was shut agairt,
Orlando and Cassandra exchanged glances, neither willing to be the first to break the silence.
The awkward situation persisted for several minutes, whereby Orlandoâs unwavering gaze remained trained on her face the entire time. âAre you upset that I asked you to come? The emotion behind his baritone voice was indecipherable.

âNo,â Cassandra pursed her lips and answered faintly.
âIf not, why didnât you come back yesterday? Cassandra. have you forgotten who you are?â he questioned.
Cassandra retorted, âWhat do you mean by that?â
Orlando frowned and replied, âWe are married. Instead of waiting for your other half to wake up, you left the hospital straight after my surgery. Arenât you worried that I will remain unconscious forever?â
Cassandra couldnât stand his piercingly stony eyes on her and shifted her gaze.
âI was awake the entire night and slept late after returning home Inst night. You have Taylor to keep you company here. I also inquired about your condition with the hospital and learned you regained consciousness. Thatâs why I didnât return. Besides. isnât Ms. Spencer here with you? Since she was the reason you got hurt, I assumed you wanted to see her more than me.â Her tone was light.
âAre you
mad? Orlando ventured.
He observed her face. The sarcasm behind her words was clear as day, although she sounded perfectly normal.
Cassandra chuckled mildly. âOrlando, do you think I should be mad?â
His brows furrowed as he continued staring at her.
âYou claim that weâre married, yet my supposed husband met with a car accident while looking for another woman at midnight during a storm. Wouldnât you be angry if our roles were reversed?â she questioned rhetorically.
Orlandoâs face visibly turned cold and he subconsciously moved to sit up. Alas, his drastic movement pulled at his wound.
His features scrunched into a rictus. âOuch!â
Cassandra still couldnât bear to see him hurt and instantly stepped forward to hold him down. âDonât move.â
While the air in the ward was filled with the pungent scent of disinfectant, Rebeccaâs light and refreshing fragrance invaded his senses, enthralling him like never before.
He stared intently at her grim face. Rebeccaâs hands were pressing down on his shoulders, and the distance between them was almost nonâexistent.
âCassandra, are you jealous?â he asked hoarsely.
âNot at all.â There was no hesitation in Cassandraâs response.
He went on. âWhy did you react so strongly just now not for jealousy?â
Cassandra wondered to herself, âAs in my reaction to Rebecca?â
She said, âIâm only telling the truth. After all, we are still husband and wife, I also signed your surgical consent form.
Orlandoâs eyes flickered, his expression calm. âSince we are married, I should exercise my right as a husband, then. Please feed me the oatmealâ
He didnât feel embarrassed in the least.
Although he didnât sound authoritative, he would not be turned down.
Cassandra was slightly taken aback. She regarded his handsome face before her that had scrape wounds on his cheeks and couldnât help feeling pity since he had difficulty with his mobility.
Chapter 53
At last, she had no choice but to feed him mouthful by mouthful.
Both of them didnât say a word the entire time.
Orlando automatically said after the meal, âCassandra, the car accident was just something that happened by chance. There was poor visibility on the road as it was raining heavily. In addition, I was speeding. That was why it happened.â
Cassandra paused slightly, the gears in her mind turning. What does he mean by this? Is he hoping that I stop accusing Rebecca?! guess this means that he does indeed love her. She pursed her lips.
Despite that, she refused to respond to him.
âDonât be angry, okay?â Orlando said with his voice lowered, and his tone softened.
Cassandra looked into his eyes and pinned him with a silent question, âDo you love her so much? To the point of begging for mercy despite lying in the hospital bed yourself?â
She was convinced that Orlandoâs lengthy explanation was out of fear that she tell him to Peter.
âOrlando, you told Grandpa Peter that our divorce will affect the reputation and interests of the Quinn Group. Iâve thought things through carefully. Our divorce would surely be a secret like our marriage. As long as you will it, even todayâs incident will be unbeknownst to Grandpa Peter and the others. Thus, whatâs the difference if we divorce?â Cassandra queried.
Orlando looked aloof as he bit out icily, âPray tell how theyâre the same?â
