Meeting a royal family, even though people don’t need to kowtow in front of the crown prince but they still need to bow down. Li Tianyan isn’t from Zidong Kingdom and a powerful cultivator, so there was no need to bow except basic respect.

Kowtow is kneeling then bowing down until your forehead touch the floor, that can only be done in front of the emperor.
