âWhat the fuck happened?!â Elijah stormed inside the room, darting his eyes to Adrian's before
mine.
My hands trembled above my lap. I stared wide-eyed at Adrian not daring to see the look on Elijah
nor Veronyka's face when they saw Adrian on the floor. Groaning in pain.
"What did you do?â Veronyka's words rang inside my head. Each word was firm as she narrowed her
eyes at me.
âI...I'm sorryâ I whispered.
âNo, you're not. Look at him!â Veronyka pointed her finger at Adrian who struggled to get up on his
feet. Elijah was quick to help him and he managed to get him to stand. However, as soon as he did
he shoved Elijah and he stumbled backwards.
My gaze fixed on Adrian's chest. It was sweating. His breathing slowly increasing its pace, making
me feel a twinge of anxiety as I stared at him now. He was gripping his arm while pushing his back
hard against the wall. The way he stood in an awkward stance let me know he was rendered a
broken knee.
Scrambling out of the bed, I rushed towards where Adrian was and reached my hand out to touch
his arm. I flinched back when he abruptly snapped my hands like he'd just slapped a fly that wanted
to fet on his face.
He lifted his head, glaring at me with his dark blue eyes. They were a shade darker than Alexander's,
and somehow in this moment as I took in his features, I noticed for the first time how different he
was from his brother. The murderous look he was giving me. The way his eyes glinted mysteriously
as he looked at me. The way his jaw clenched tightly when I advanced a step towards him. All of it
seemed to contradict all my first impressions of him the day Alexander took me in this pack.
And for a moment, I thought I'd saw his true colors, right before the corner of his lips arched
upwards revealing a sheepish smile.
"Donât worry about this, I'm okay. I just feel sad...â He mumbled, sighing.
âNo you're not okay, lan. Let me call the pack doctor for you,â Before Adrian could protest, Veronyka
hurriedly rushed towards the door. As soon as she opened the door, she staggered back as three
well-muscled men all wearing black leather jackets and black pants stood outside looking like they
were just about ready to barge in.
I squinted at the men and one by one, they walked in the room uninvited. It was then that I noticed,
they all looked pretty much the same. All having black spiky hair with matching lip piercings on the
same spot.
Two maids followed them closely and lowered their heads when they saw Elijah.
"We tried to stop them,â One maid said quickly.
Elijah immediately stepped in front of me, blocking me from the three bulky men who just barged
in.
"Who are you and what do you want?â Elijah asked with a firm, yet calm voice.
One of the men peered at me over Elijahâs shoulder, making Elijah let out a low growl.
One of the men then took a step forward before saying, âWe are from the Alliance, and we're here
for Eleanor Raven of Blue Mountains Pack.â
âSorry for the intrusion, we just need to ask a few questions concerning the beta.â The man on the
left also spoke.
Elijah glanced at me and threw me a meaningful look.
He nodded at the men and said, âAlright. Let's talk downstairsâ The bulky muscled men all
exchanged looks before spinning around to the door.
âYou go, I'll stay and wait for the pack doctor with Adrian,â Veronyka says, locking her arm with
Adrian's as she looked over at us.
I saw Elijah smirk mockingly at Veronyka, which earned him a sharp glare.
âSo you finally decide to make yourself useful for once, huh?â Elijah grinned at her whilst she rolled
her eyes. Before I went downstairs with Elijah I changed into my casual clothes, mindlessly choosing
the outfit Alexander picked out for me. As I was in a rush, I didnât bother looking at the mirror and
shoved in every piece of clothing to fit my body.
Without another word, we exited the bed room and sauntered downstairs.
The three men were all sat at the large table in the hall, waiting for us.
We walked over to the table before Elijah and I took our seats.
âShall we start?â Elijah spoke, breaking the silence that enveloped the air around us.
The man on the middle nodded. I noticed they were all staring weirdly at my face, or maybe it was
my pink hair that distracted them. I take a mental note to wear a bonnet next time 1 go out in
public.
"Before we start, let us introduce ourselves. I'm Devin, the one to my right is Louie, and to my left is
Sam, short for Samuel.â Devin stated while pointing his finger to each man beside him. Elijah and I
nodded to acknowledge their names.
My gaze landed on Louie. He avoided my gaze, looking at the other direction as though he didn't
want to look at me in the eye. As if things aren't weird enough, I suddenly get this feeling like heâs
familiar. Have I.seen him somewhere?
âMs. Raven, you claimed that your packâs beta, Mike Darcy, has physically assaulted you a couple of
times?â It was Devin who asked.
I was about to speak when I noticed my throat was still parched. Clearing my throat briefly, I took a
deep breath before opening my lips to speak.
âIt wasn't just a couple of times. It was a million times more.â I say softly.
They exchanged looks with one another again and one who I recall was named Sam nodded at me.
âMs. Raven, you are known as the wolf-less daughter of Alpha Victor, correct?â He asks.
I nod curtly.
"And that means when you receive an injury or wound, you heal slowly just like a human would?â
That made my body stiffen for a moment, and I paused, thinking. Then, several images of my scars
suddenly flashed in my mind and a newfound confidence burned within me.
"Yes, I heal slowly and I retain scars too.â I say as a matter of fact.
Devin and Louie squinted at my face, staring as though they don't really believe my words.
Sam leaned back on his chair, crossing his arms against his chest before saying, âShow us.â
I looked at him for a few more seconds before my brain was able to process what he said. My face
suddenly flushed and heat burned across my skin at the thought of stripping in front of four men.
"Yo-you don't understand. I have scars all over my body, and that meansâ"
âWe're not telling you to take your goddamn shirt off, we're talking about pictures.â Louie says
firmly, his tone sounding a little irritated and I blushed. The awkward silence after that fueled my
burning embarrassment for being stupid.
âDo you have any?â Devin asks, fixing his gaze on my flushed face when I shook my head in
response.
âN-no."
Louie suddenly slammed his hand on the table and growled.
âDo you think of us as fools?!â His chair made a loud, screeching sound as he rose to his feet
abruptly. His finger pointed at me accusingly.
His eyes were glowing, hair almost covering his whole face as his grey wolf peeked out.
I flinched back in my seat, whilst Elijah stood and growled dangerously at him too.
I hear Devin let out a sigh.
âLouie, enough. Sit. Down.â Devin shot him a look that effectively made Louie sit down. His eyes no
longer glowing, and his face looking like it's been shaved clean from his wolf's fur. Louie glared at
me and I stared hard at his face for a moment.
Yes, I've seen him somewhere before. With beta Mike.
