Chapter 678
She's My Sleeping Pill
âBoss, this is the place where I have located the signal and the IP address.â Tristan expressed while showing Stefan the map where Napoleone was hiding. âTwo of our men went ahead and scouted the place but they couldnât find any lodging or any house where someone can stay.â
Stefan studied the map and other details which could possibly help them. Since there wasnât any house where Napoleone can stay surely, there should be a place where he could hide even if it was not a house.
âDid they find some abandoned properties? Anything. It can be a warehouse, a house, an unfinished building, a car â anything.â Stefan inquired while keeping his eyes on the map. On the northern part of the map, there was a river that separated the place from another property. To the west was a private-owned land which has live wires as fences. The east side was a huge piece of land that the government-owned in order to build a new hospital.
The property where the signal appeared wasnât really a big area but it was enough for someone to hide and make a run to escape. They just needed proper planning.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âMartin, bring some people and guard the north side of this area. Erwin, help me guard the east. Rey, bring some of our men to the west. Tristan, monitor the highway for me and make sure that no one will leave this area. Iâll come and check the whole place.â
âAre you crazy?! What if he installed some cameras and heâs monitoring you?â
âI highly doubt it at this point. I have a gut feeling that he has no one by his side now.â
.....
âAnd what if you are mistaken? What if something happens to you? What am I going to tell the madam about it?â Tristan retorted quickly and at the same time, he tightened his grip on Stefanâs arm to stop him. âHow about I go on your behalf?â
âAnd what am I supposed to tell Elena if something happens to you?â
âNothing. Yeah, sure, sheâll be sad but she wonât mourn for me.â
Stefan frowned at his response and he couldnât stop himself from narrowing his eyes at his secretary. âI thought you two have been doing well.â
âWe were. Itâs just that, some things arenât meant for us.â
After arguing back and forth, they both decided to go and check the place themselves. Stefan was very meticulous when it comes to looking for hiding spots. He was very observant of every movement and he kept his eyes and ears sharp for anything suspicious.
He checked the dilapidated house, the abandoned car, and the old-aged barn which was no longer functioning. Tristan has searched for some information regarding this place and it was said that this was a private-owned place but there was no decent property that would indicate that someone was residing in this area.
The two of them continued to walk around with only the moonâs bright light as their guide. Not noticing the protruding metal on the ground, Tristan stepped on it and something on the garage wall has moved.
They immediately walked over but Stefan noticed a creeping shadow that was moving away from them. âThere he is!â without giving a second thought, he fired his gun with his aim on the manâs head. Sadly, the night didnât help him see his target properly.
âHeâs running to the east part. Get prepared!â Stefan commanded while chasing after the man.
Napoleone smiled when his lackey successfully baited Stefan to chase after him. He immediately got out of his hiding place and ran to the northern part. Unfortunately, Tristan hadnât gotten far from the garage and he immediately saw Napoleone.
âStefan, come back here! Thatâs a bait! Our target is heading north.â
Napoleone angrily pulled the trigger of his gun and shoot Tristan on his arm. He was confident in his running skills and since he thought that Stefan hadnât planned properly, he dashed straight to the north area where he could cross the river and get to the next property.
There, he met Martinâs men and bullets rained on him. He was quick to take cover behind the abandoned car but not quick enough to evade the three bullets which hit his thigh, abdomen and shoulder.
âNapoleone, just come out and face me.â Stefan calmly mentioned while waiting with his men. âWe have surrounded you and thereâs no chance for you to escape.â
âHa! If you think you are wiser than me then, think again! Did you really think Iâd go down by myself? Impossible! Iâll make sure to drag someone to hell with me.â
âNah, uh uh...that wonât do. Satan wonât be happy to see uninvited visitors.â
Napoleone peeked his head to see where Stefan was but a bullet grazed the spot right in front of him. He wasnât sure if the man missed him or if it was a warning for him to come out.
âCome on.â Stefan taunted in a bored tone. âI canât believe youâd be so cowardly.â
âShut up!â Napoleone angrily yelled and jumped out from where he was hiding. His gun was aimed to Stefan but when he managed to fire his gun thrice, bullets have made their way to him as well. Holes can be seen on his body from the bullets but no one felt pity while watching him slowly die on the ground.
âThrow him into the river. His life canât be compared to those innocent people that he killed. There no need for the police to interfere this time.â
Rey and Martin readily complied and dragged Napoleoneâs body to the river near them. The blood was trailing behind them but it didnât matter to them. When they have made sure that Napoleone would die from this, Stefan walked back to his car and everyone started leaving the place â not bothering to clean their mess at all.
It was already past midnight and Stefan wasnât home yet. Cayenne was wide awake while sitting on the porch to wait for him. Luiz already asked her to come inside for the nth time but she wouldnât budge at all. She was feeling distress that Stefan has lied to her again but she didnât want to blame him because it was for their own safety.
âLord, please bring him back to me.â Cayenne prayed solemnly with her hands clasped together in tight prayer.
However, when he arrived home later, she slammed the door to his face and crossed her arms over her chest. âYou are not allowed to sleep with me tonight.â
