Chapter 420: 319 - I Find You a Bit Annoying Here_2
Be a Good Boy and Marry Me
The two of them lingered in the hotel for most of the day. By the time they got back to the Mo Mansion, it was already past five in the afternoon.
Old Master Mo was practicing Tai Chi in the courtyard. Seeing them walk in hand in hand, he gracefully retracted his movement and took a deep breath. âGrandpa   â
âGrandpa, weâre back.â
The couple simultaneously greeted him.
Old Master Mo glared at Mo Shiting, then turned to Gu Li with a smile. The warmth in his attitude towards Gu Li was a stark contrast to his harshness towards Mo Shiting. âLittle Pear, youâre finally here. Letâs go inside the house and play chess.â
âAbsolutely, letâs go.â
Gu Li didnât decline. She instantly âabandonedâ Mo Shiting, took Old Master Moâs arm, and helped him walk into the main house.
Seeing this, Mo Shiting had no choice but to follow behind them.
Once inside the house, Old Master Mo ordered Uncle Guan to fetch an antique chess set from the study.
The older man and the young girl sat across each other while Mo Shiting stood behind Gu Li, watching her play chess.
Gu Li was not very good at chess, and lost to Old Master Mo every time.
But Old Master Mo wasnât any better, soGu Li was the only one he could feel superior to.
At the sight of both of them playing poorly, Mo Shiting couldnât stand it anymore and moved a piece on behalf of Gu Li.
This move effectively blocked Old Master Moâs retreat.
He was not pleased. âYou cheeky brat,â he fumed, âdonât you know that a true gentleman never comments when observing a chess game?â
Mo Shiting smirked, even as he brazenly refuted him, âGrandpa, I didnât say anything.â He had simply made a move.
âYouâ¦â
Old Master Mo was left speechless, his frustration manifesting in a slap to the table. âWhy are you so free today? Neglecting a business worth billions just to watch us play chess?â
Mo Shiting:
Gu Li burst into laughter, âGrandpa, letâs ignore him and play our game. Iâll take back our moves and start again somewhere else.â
She quickly undid Mo Shitingâs move.
Old Master Mo sniffed, âLittle Pear is considerate. Unlike that cheeky brat who only knows how to irritate his grandpa.â
âGrandpa, Brother Ting was just helping me because Iâm so bad at chess. If it werenât for him, I would have lost horribly. Please donât blame him. If you must blame someone, blame my poor skills.â
âYouâre always covering for him!â
After blaming Gu Li, Old Master Mo glared at Mo Shitingagain, âI think youâre a nuisance here. You should go and work.â
Mo Shiting:
âYeah, Brother Ting, you should go do your things. You donât need to keep me company here.ân/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Gu Li felt bad for Mo Shiting and suggested him to leave.
Feeling unwanted by both, Mo Shiting awkwardly scratched his nose.
Just then, Lu Yang called to report an urgent meeting that needed to be held immediately.
Mo Shiting ended the call and said to Gu Li, âI need to attend a meeting at the Other Garden. Iâll be back soon.â
Gu Li nodded eagerly, âAlright, go ahead with your work.â
âOff you go.â
Old Master Mo impatiently ushered him out.
Mo Shiting shookhis head, put his hand in his pocket, and strode off.
Once he left, the spacious main house was left with only the old man and the young girl locked in a chess battle.
The outcome was inevitable; Old Master Mo was sure to win.
After losing several games, Gu Li declared, âI canât do this anymore. Itâs so boring to lose every time.â
âHahaâ¦â
Old Master Mo chuckled and stroked his white beard, âIt seems like youâre eager to join that brat. Arenât you?â
âNot at all!â
Gu Liâs face blushed slightly, âGrandpa, do you think Iâm that kind of person? Iâm just tired of losing every game.â
âAlright, then. We wonât play chess. Would you like to chat with grandpa instead?â
âSure.â
Talking was far more interesting than playing chess.
Plus, she had always wanted to ask Old Master Mo about Brother Tingâs father. Now, she finally had the chance.
âGrandpa, I heard that Brother Tingâs father is a very important and impressive figure. Can you tell me about him?â
Gu Li brought up her question.
Old Master Mo packed up the chess pieces, his eyes deepening into a thoughtful state as if he was sunk in memories.
Gu Li patiently waited for him to speak. However, as the minutes ticked away, he still remained silent.
Gu Li started to feel apprehensive. Had she said something wrong?
âGrandpa?â
