Chapter 28
Triplet Mommy’s Triumphant Return
Chapter 28
Soon, the results of the DNA comparison between Steve and Vanessa and Melanie
came out.
As Melanie guessed, Vanessa was indeed Steveâs daughter.
And she and Vanessa were halfâsisters.
âI donât understand.â
Melanie held the paternity test result in her hand and murmured.
âMelanie!â
âWhy? Iâm also his daughter. Why did he treat me like that? Why did he treat my mother like that?â
At this moment, Melanie wished she were not Steveâs daughter.
She even hoped that she was adopted, or even picked up on the side of the road by
Steve.
Seeing that Melanie was sorrowful, Angie took away the test result in Melanieâs hand and threw it into the trash can.
âIf I had known youâd be so sad, I would have changed your nail.â
In fact, Angie did have this idea, but Darrin stopped her in the end and let her respect Melanieâs will.
âSo what? It wonât change the fact.â
Melanie concealed the emotions in her eyes, stood up and walked to the window.
Looking at the bustling traffic and people in the distance, Melanie became indifferent.
Although Tracy had cleaned out Melanieâs and her motherâs stuff. Melanie felt that Steve must have put away some of them.
Melanie thought. And also the diary that Ryan has mentioned. Itâs supposed to be with my motherâs stuff. Why did it get lost?â
Chapter 28
Thinking of all this, Melanie was so anxious that she decided to go to the Robertson residence again.
At night.
There was a crescent moon in the sky, but the streets in Beloris were still so bright.
Melanie changed into a neat training suit and went to the Robertson residence with Darrin.
As soon as they got into the car, they saw Angie sitting in the driverâs seat.
âAngie? What are you doing here? Whereâs Roy?â
âMelanie, I let Roy go to bed. I want to go with you.â
âNo way. Weâre not going to a party.â Melanie was a little angry.
âTsk, I wonât go if itâs a party.â
Angie said that disdainfully and then begged.
âMelanie, just let me go with you. Iâm the one who takes care of you closely.â
Thinking of the possibility of going blind again, Melanie thought for a while and then agreed.
They came to the Robertson residence and parked the car in a quiet place.
âAngie, since youâre here, you have to do something. Last time you said that Steveâs home was not equipped with a smart home monitoring system. Deal with it.â
Angie immediately understood. âDonât worry, Melanie. Leave it to me.â
Angie took out her phone and blocked all the surveillance cameras around.
âSteve has been installing a full set of intelligent surveillance indeed, but it hasnât been completed yet.â
âDarrin, you can do what you want, and Angie will be with me. Weâll meet here in half an hour.â
Melanie soon arranged the action plan.
Chapter 28
âYes, Ms. Robertson.â
Darrin agreed and soon left.
Melanie and Angie entered the Robertson residence from the northern part.
This was the servant area. It was far away from the courtyard and cluttered, but it
was easy to enter.
It was the middle of the night when people slept deeply. The whole courtyard was. quiet, and the sound of moths flapping their wings in the flowers could be heard from time to time.
They quickly opened the gate of the servant area and entered the main courtyard.
Melanie went straight to the storeroom and found that the doorknob had been changed into a combination lock. She tried several passwords but all failed.
In the end, Melanie tried her motherâs deathday, but the door was opened.
Melanie didnât have time to think about it and got in immediately. As she expected, she saw many of her motherâs collections.
There were plenty of famous paintings and antiques. They were all rare and valuable.
âSteve has a good taste. He knows these things are treasures so he hasnât sold them.â
Angie looked at all the collections in the room leisurely.
âHe doesnât wanna sell them now, but it wonât be up to him afterward,â Melanie. said with hatred.
âWow, this Buddha statue is really here. Itâs a family heirloom of our Thomas. family,â Angie suddenly exclaimed.
âYes, this Buddha statue is indeed my motherâs.â
Melanie glanced at it and nodded affirmatively. She looked around the room. Her motherâs precious things were all here, but when she took a closer look, she found that none of her motherâs paintings was here.
Melanie thought, âI remember that during the years when Mom was ill, she still hadnât stopped painting. Sometimes, she even spent a whole day in the studio. But

why thereâs no painting of hers in the Robertson residence?
âIs it a coincidence or not?â
Melanie was lost in thought when Angie suddenly fell to the ground.
Then a shelf fell to the ground and a porcelain vase shattered with a loud noise.
This happened so soon that Melanie had no time to think about it. She immediately helped Angie up, put Angie on her back and went out of the
storeroom.
Almost at the same time, the whole Robertson residence was lit up. Tracyâs shrill voice sounded, âHelp! Catch the thief!â
Under such a situation, it was obviously impossible for them to get out through the gate. They could only get out from the way they got in.
Melanie thought for a while and then ran to the servant area with Angie on her
back.
When they were about to get through the door, the lights in the servant area suddenly lit up. Some people went out while cursing.
Melanie could only hide in the garden.
âAngie, Angie, wake up.â
Melanie patted Angie anxiously.
Melanie thought, âHowâs Darrin now? If he doesnât come, itâll be a little difficult for me to get Angie out alone.â
âAngie, Angie!â
But Angie slept so deeply that Melanie couldnât wake her up at all.
